I hear ya!! I'm only 5 weeks out and I don't want to exercise :/ I've started taking the back door out of work just so that I will have to walk the full length of the parking lot.
For me, one of the problems is, it's winter. It gets dark at 4:45pm. I can't go walking at night. Once I sit down by the wood burning stove, that's it, I'm out.
I wish something would inspire me.

Aren't we all. I, too, have no motivation and do not get a thrill out of exercising. I can think of 10 million things I'd rather do than exercise-getting a root canal included. :-( I work 2 jobs...high school science teacher by day and college science prof by night. The LAST thing I want to do is take that precios half hour between points A and B and exercise. So I hear you and join my little voice to your rant. I would welcome any ideas or suggestions or tips or hints on equipment that a not so fat, lazy and busy girl like me could use. :-)

Congrats on being on the way! Don't stress over what's not done. Just get what you can done and the rest, just has to wait. Good luck to you.

Good luck...I so much like to see real people who have had success with this surgery and my Surgeon. Like Catherine said, you are helping others save their lives.

I expected to have my surgery this week. That was the plan. Did everything on schedule. Stayed on the diet. Did everything I was told. Surprise the insurance rejected because of the Psych eval. Said his recommendation wasn't definitive enough. My response? I still want this. My surgeon put in an appeal. I stayed on the diet and continued to lose more weight. I continued going to the life skills class. Just carried on as though everything was going to happen. Yesterday the surgeon called and the approval came. So I'm getting the surgery a few weeks later than initially planned, but I AM getting it. The bonus is that I weigh even less going into it so there's less to lose after. This will happen for you, too. Maybe not on your initial schedule, but in the end you'll find a reason for it turning out the way it did and you will still be a happy, much thinner bride. Just stay on track and continue to lose weight until things get processed.

@Taty thanks for replying, you have to let me know how the Spanx does for you. They have never helped me much, but I'd love to know how the newer ones are. I heard they did some redesigns a few years back so I'm interested in hearing how it goes.
@Cowgirl wow 123#! That is great!!! Okay so you didn't wear any. That's I guess my confusion because I wear girdles now, they aren't that uncomfy for me (probably because I've worn them so long) but I do wonder if they help with pain/saggy skin.

@Lez, after my c-section I went home with the staples and just about died every time anything hit my tummy, including nursing...cannot imagine injections after that ordeal. As for my hubby, he said he'd do it...but still that is a shot and he better not hurt me.
@Lisa's oh I would just about cry if I hadn't known in time to prepare myself. I am horrible with pain. I think it is the thought of a shot...I have tatoos and somehow my mind can take the pain of those but not the pain of shots...I may have a repressed childhood memory.
@Dooter nope, I have no history of blood clots but my surgeon is making everyone do it. Yes, the diets get down right confusing. One Dr, says this another that and the Nuts don't agree either. Lots of trial and error I forsee.

Good idea to eat a meal at lunch and shake for dinner.
There are about 34 carbs in the shake. That could be high. I normally do peaches (keep me full longer than strawberries my fave). I'll play around with not adding the fruit and see what happens.
My Nut told me to eat at least 3 servings of fruit a day so I've been trying to add them to something so I don't get bored.

Great first entry. I've heard lots of people talk about how people "change" after WLS. I've known a number of people and let me tell you how they've changed...

More confidence - not bad at all, most people just can't take it that they now stand up for themselves now and won't be pushed around or are no longer shy, etc.
Happier - not always but in many cases those I know are happier which means they don't allow drama into their lives any longer, so you know what that means to drama kings/queens...bye bye
More active - they are no longer the sit in the house and eat with me types, they move, have fun, travel, do all the things they didn't do before
Make more $$$ - not sure if this is a result of more earnings or less spent on medications, clothes, food
Take more risks - by this I mean they try lots more things that they were affraid/ didn't have confidence enough to try before, from new careers, to new relationships, to more self-love

The list really goes on and on. I guess what I'm trying to say is those that I know have really improved overall body, mind, and soul. So what actually I've seen happen is the OTHER people can't take seeing them so happy and confident.
Best wishes you to on your journey!

I can't really answer your question but I have seen little evidence that it makes much difference in the way you are mentioning. I do wear shapewear now, but that is because it makes such a difference in how I look and it is no longer uncomfortable! I am a 14 without shapewear, but more like a 12 with it.
Immediately post op i certainly did not wear compression garments and feel like it would have made me feel miserable. I was all about comfort during the healing process. My skin has tightened up much better then i expected, considering I have lost 123# and that is without daily use of compression garments.

ok so i dont have that great of insight on this but i will try. lol i had a c section as well and my father tried to drill into my head to wear a belly band. i never did. my friend however did and she looks AMAZING. you could not even tell she had a baby at all and everything is tucked in so nicely. im only 1 week post op and im going to my brothers wedding in a few days so i have to get some spanx. which i plan to wear daily. i am going to buy 2 sizes down as well because i no longer have incision pain. well i do but its minimal.
i think they help alot with keeping things in and formed lol. i only have one example of this working but hey why not try. i was watching those as seen on TV commercials and i wanna get the tummy tuck one. my friend swears by it as well. but i def have to push myself into some spanx this saturday in order for my dress to look decent lol

I had NO clue I would have to take shots after my surgery either until the surgery was done!! I got home and they called in my meds and I was told I had to give myself injections of blood thinners everyday. The first time was awkward. It really didn't hurt though. The needles are so small and they are prefilled syringes. You will be fine. It is a small price to pay for the benefits!!
