Nobody is perfect. Everyone is gonna slip at some point, you just have to remember why you had the surgery and remember to stick with it... Tomorrows another day, so you lost a battle today you still have a war to win. Keep your chin up.

    First I want to say
Wow this has been quite a journey so far!!!! Everything that had to be done to get where I am at today is beyond being worth it!!!
Second I want to thank my partner in crime Karen for telling me about this surgery to begin with. I would have never known about it or gone to have it done without her!!! Thank you Buttercup!!!
Third I want to thank my husband for supporting my decision even though he thought I didn't need to have it done. He even stood up and said something to my family when they were being turds about me having it done. Thank you Pookie!!!
So to finish up here, this is what has happened so far & what is not so far away!!
    Surgery date: 5/22/2013
    Height : 5ft. 6"
    Age: 39
    Start weight : 218
    Current weight : 171
Only 3 pounds away from hitting 2 goals.
1st: hitting the 50 pound mark
2nd: hitting 168 ( the weight I was when I met my husband)
I also am only 36 pounds away from hitting my goal weight of 135!!!!!
Thank you everyone for being there even when I was whining & complaining!!!!
    XOXO

I have a blood clotting disorder and have a history of blood clots which is now managed by Coumadin. What I've learned is to just have it checked out. They will do an ultrasound. One thing to think about, Vitamin dificiancies will also give you leg pain. Check your potassium levels.

Sometimes it takes a while for your efforts to show up on the scale, you are losing inches and your body takes time to adjust. I understand about the stress eating, I used to do it myself, also if I was just bored. Now I have to go find something else to do besides eat. I lose slowly but it is coming off, we just have to be patient and work through the process.Good luck to you!

The final straw that broke the camels back for me was... My mother passed away May 18, 2013. She was only 55 and not morbidly obese but overweight with hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and MS. It was a massive stroke and heart attack that took her. If that was not enough to scare the crap out of me, her oldest sister who was 61 suffered a massive stroke just one week later, that eventually took her as well on June 3, 2013. My father also had a heart attack and open heart surgery in 2010. He is morbidly obese with HBP, Diabetes, and obviously heart disease. Given the fact that these are my genes, I have no option but to do everything in my power to try to get healthy.

What was everyone eating one month post op. I guess I might have a sleeve of steal because I can eat a packet of instant oatmeal no problem. Baked chicken tuna it all goes down fine. Kinda worries me that I don't feel the restriction.

Sleeved July 24. Trying different foods when I feel bored with my usual. Ate a Lunchable with turkey and cheddar. Took me two meals to finish it but it worked. Cottage cheese, eggs, Swai, American singles and refried Beans have helped spice up my Protein shake diet. All in 1/4 cup servings. Getting in Water is a struggle. I take chewable Centrum Silver. Curious about trying liquid multi Vitamins and adding to my shakes. Anyone try that? Heartburn every day-Dr put me on Prilosec. Pre-op 231. Today 216. Slow and steady it goes I guess.

I'm sure it will be part of my life from here out its a lifesaver and can relieve the pressure in your chest plus it's on 88 cents at Walmart

I had my sleeve July 29, 2013. So I'm only in my second week post-op. I'm really struggling. I feel hungry nearly all the time, which is not at all what I thought I would feel. Help! What's your secret words of wisdom??

We set up imaginary people in our minds with their negative reactions and then look at ourselves through their eyes. It's human nature to prepare for the worst. No doubt you will run into negative folks. Look at yourself through your own eyes regardless of what they "see".
Don't borrow shame, don't accept it at the hands of others. It is up to you to know what is right and wrong.
People that get this surgery learn to know themselves and defend that identity. Adversity is a university. You have a good list of reasons to be proud of you. Unload the self-doubt along with the fat. Give yourself permission to be extraordinary. From what I see you have good reason to be proud. But it is not what I see that counts, it's what you KNOW.

I am now almost post-op 9 months and I have exceeded my weight loss goal. My goal weight was 145 and my dream weight would be 138. I am now down to 125 and very thin. I have for the most part, had a great experience with this whole process and truly believe this was the best thing. However, I have felt even in the 130's that I was getting too thin looking and was trying to figure out ways to either maintain or gain.
I stick to a lot of Protein, then veggies, then starch. I have tried Keifer, Peanut Butter, etc and nothing is really helping me keep it on. I cannot stomach the shakes anymore, they make me sick, I have tried everything to make them better. Was fine before surgery but after surgery they have become my enemy.
I have tried pushing it with eating more and to the point where I was vomiting 2 of the 3 meals and they even did an emergency EGD to make sure no strictures or obstructions and I do not have either. So here I am, 9 months post op, I can eat maybe 2 oz of food at a sitting. If I go more, I got from a stomach pain level of 2-9 in minutes. Either I end up vomiting or try to work through the pain. I actually just decreased from 3-4 oz because I could no longer stand the pain/vomiting scenario.
Where is everyone else with the amounts they can eat? Is anyone else having these issues?
I know I have gotten really thin when my dad called me this weekend and said Beth, enough of the weight loss, you are WAY TOO THIN. Last week, I had several friends and even doctors tell me the same thing. When I look at all the scales of BMI I can technically go down to 115lbs before I am considered underweight, but really, when I tell people I am at 125 lbs they say no way, I look like I am 110. What would I look like at 115? YIKES.
I have spoken to the nutritionist about this, she is a nut case I think. She told me I am not thin enough yet and that was when I was at 134. So really, I am reaching out to everyone that has suggestions, or experiences that can relate to this and give me some feedback.
    Thank you everyone!!!

OMG that sounds exactly like me. I have that feeling of always being hungry and have that rumbling noise in my tummy. I'm six weeks post-op also and 25 pounds down. My dietician told me it may be acid reflux and suggest that I take Tums. I haven't started on this yet because I'm waiting to see if that hunger feeling would disappear. I sure do hate to add another medication to my daily intake.

I am 6 weeks out and every time I eat, I get a 'hungry' feeling afterwards? Is this maybe gasses in my tummy instead? I am definitely not one of those who lost the hunger hormone . I am the type of person who could live without eating if I didn't feel hungry....food just isn't that huge of a deal for me (especially now) but I seem to feel hungry all of the time. If I get full (and I do) it doesn't last long. I am eating Protein and trying to drink my shakes and my Water but trying to figure all of that out is a pain in the butt. Anyway, I'm down almost 30 pounds and I'm happy, I just want to stop feeling hungry!

You are not whining, so don't beat yourself up. And you're not alone, we are all here listening and sympathising. Many of us have been where you are...
Day 4 post op and I cried all day. Hormones all over the place, tired because I wasn't getting enough food or Water in and experiencing buyers remorse - what the hell had I done to myself???
Woke up on day 5 feeling more rested and just generally better and the corner was turned. Who knows why but you have just been through a major surgery so strange things happen. It's an emotional time - but all of this will pass, you will start to feel better, healthier and you will lose weight. Keeping up with your kids will get easier :-))))
So chin up, it's very early days, focus on doing what you can with your liquids and remember - u r most definitely not alone! Good luck, keep us updated....

you shouldn't fail with your weight loss as long as you follow ALL the sleeve rules
to me, Water rules are the most important
stop drinking 15-30 minutes before you will eat
NEVER, EVER, EVER drink with your meals (people have been shot for less )
do not drink for 45-60 minutes after you eat
drink as much H20 as you can (at least 64 oz)
    chew your food thoroughly
    eat veryyyy slowly
helps if you put your utensil down after each bite
    eat Protein first
    measure your food
85% of your tummy is now gone!!!! the sleeve will help you/assist you to be successful
BUT........you must work very very hard too!!!!
work with the sleeve and the sleeve will work with you
as far as gaining a couple of lbs here or there, there is always Water gain that should/will come off
measure yourself frequently - if you are not losing weight, its very possible/probable that you have lost inches
    "see" how your clothes feel/fit
everyone/most/all of us go through stalls, some stalls can last a few days
but i've seen them last much longer too (as in months )
don't frown and worry too much - you'll get wrinkles along with some "possible" lose skin!!!
    stay focused, positive and excited
i know you can do this
once you reach goal - remember.....your new eating/drinking habits are something you must keep forever and a day
thats the MUST DO plan so you remain at your goal weight!!!!!
and continue to live a healthier, happier, longer life
    28 lbs gone!!!! OMG!!!
    keep up the good work
    good luck
    kathy
    congrats
