6 week post op hunger?

Recommended Posts

I am 6 weeks out and every time I eat, I get a 'hungry' feeling afterwards? Is this maybe gasses in my tummy instead? I am definitely not one of those who lost the hunger hormone :(. I am the type of person who could live without eating if I didn't feel hungry....food just isn't that huge of a deal for me (especially now) but I seem to feel hungry all of the time. If I get full (and I do) it doesn't last long. I am eating Protein and trying to drink my shakes and my Water but trying to figure all of that out is a pain in the butt. Anyway, I'm down almost 30 pounds and I'm happy, I just want to stop feeling hungry!

hmmmmmm... hmmmmmm... This is a puzzler?! OK so ghrelin ain't doin it... the other help is to "feel full" (satiety). This will Not happen on Protein Shakes. This is the dense Protein, with NO liquids before, during, after the meal. Does that help at all???

Funny thing is....when I manage to get in a full Protein Shake, I feel miserably full! But just a few minutes ago I had 2oz of meat (pastrami) very low fat, high Protein, and 1 egg. I was very full and knew it because of the sneezing lol but my tummy has not shut up since and feels hungry. Hungry and grumbly.

I don't feel like I have acid reflux, not in the normal sense anyway. What is ppi? I really kind of hope that is what this is!

Yep sounds like acid...

Ppi= proton pump inhibitor, read this it will tell you about the meds, I would call your doc and tell him your symptoms he may give you a prescription or tell you to buy over the counter strength..

Do u take gas x? DDo you take gas x? it works great, if you haven't, you should... not sure if it will stop your hunger, but I take one with each meal... seems to give a bit more room and removes gas.

OMG that sounds exactly like me. I have that feeling of always being hungry and have that rumbling noise in my tummy. I'm six weeks post-op also and 25 pounds down. My dietician told me it may be acid reflux and suggest that I take Tums. I haven't started on this yet because I'm waiting to see if that hunger feeling would disappear. I sure do hate to add another medication to my daily intake.

I went and bought Prilocect (spg) and gas x. Will let you know if it helps. That hollow grumbly feeling really sucks so I am crossing my fingers that this helps! Thank you everyone for your comments!

I am 7 weeks out and I have not lost my hunger either! I have to eat every 2 hours. One cheese stick here, some yogurt, a few bites of turkey, lick of Peanut Butter. Works for me! I have lost 37 lbs!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
