Deb We all react differently post surgery. "we're" never supposed to compare ourselves with other sleevers in regards to anything
    ie if we are/were tired
i turned 58 the month after surgery - i was tired the first week after surgery - after that i was fine
"your/my age" MIGHT add to being tired, but i don't really think so
    tiredness??? this too shall pass
but for now - if you are tired still for awhile - go with "it" - pamper yourself and get plenty of rest after work
    take a nap, relax
you'll be back to your ol' chipper self in no time - won't be tired
"if" you forgot, you just had MAJORY surgery!!!!
otherwise, hope your recovery is going well
ahhhhh - big stretch and i'm yawning too
it happens to the best of us
    good night, sweet dreams
    take care

im 37 and 2 weeks out. im extremely tired. im usually that person that bounces right out of surgery. i had a hysterectomy in September and only took two days off.
mine was done as an emergency so i was very sick going in and there were complications. i also had to have a blood transfusion and spent 5 days in hospital so i guess it's all caught up to me. i told my surgeon this time kicked my butt

Just having had major surgery, your body has just started to heal. It takes a lot of energy to heal.
You may also need to take an Iron supplement.

I was super fatigued, too. Some days, I would have to rest after just taking a shower! I am 50, so maybe it was that. I also had a post op infection, so maybe it was that. I also was eating about 400 calories a day, so maybe it was that. I just don't know, but I think it was a combination of the above. It did get significantly better right about 4 weeks, though, so take heart, it does get better! Now that I think about it, that was about when I was able to advance my diet a little. Anyway, I'm almost 8 weeks out now, and I'm feeling pretty good.

Had the same thought, did some things like snacked on a spoonful or two yogurt early on or cottage cheese. I have been sleeping more and taking naps since excersising more and often, the first stages and weeks are ruff on the body, sleep was way out of kilter and added up to several naps consecutively allot of the time, and you may spend a day or some amount of minutes drained or dizzy a bit, rest is good medicine and help toward the diet to be fully rested once you can be better able to sleep.
as for the thought, ignored as a thought and put it into it's same category as pre op, acception, was it then my weight also ?

I was easily tired for about 3 weeks. For the first 2 weeks it was 2 naps a day then early to bed. But the next week was better (week3) and by week 4 I was back to my normal schedule and feeling energetic. You've been thru a lot surgery wise, adjustment of food, etc. Be kind to yourself, and you will soon be feeling better.

Hi Deb it took me 6 weeks to feel full strength. Most people I know it has taken them about one month to feel full strength. I am 49 years old. But I continually had to remind myself that this was major surgery. I know it's hard but, please try to be patient. You will get your strength back soon. Best Wishes Tina

I can't express how much I appreciate Jenny and the others who have responded to this discussion.....you have most likely saved my sanity. I was beginning to wonder if I had made the biggest mistake of my life.

If i remember correctly after mine was pulled out I had to wear a bandage over it for approx. a week. Give it a few more days and keep an eye on the color of the drainage.

Well tomorrow I am going to the gym for the first time since I was sleeved. (12/17/12)
I've lost 30 pounds, and I'm looking forward to doing the eliptical trainer. I hope I can do 10 minutes, and then I will walk too.
I also plan on starting a light weightlifting program.
    Wish me luck!

Is WLS good for everyone? I guess not BUT the majority are successful. If you are reading this thread and are considering it, DON'T let this person or iggy scare the (bleep) out of you! DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE and get busy saving your own life!
Tomorrow I will be 4 weeks post op. Here are my stats: I am a 35 year old male, 6' 3" tall. On 11/23/12 I was 445 lbs. I started my pre op all liquid diet that day and lost 49 lbs in 28 days before I had surgery. 12/21/12 I was 396 and had surgery. 1/17/13, and I am 1 day shy of being 4 weeks post op and I have lost 24 additional lbs for a total of 73 lbs in 56 days.
    In summary.....
11/23/2012- 445 lbs. BMI= 55 (Taking Metformin for pre diabetes and Lisinopril for borderline high blood pressure.)
1/17/2013- 372 lbs BMI= 46 (NO MORE LISINOPRIL, BUT still taking Metformin.....FOR NOW.......)
The bottom line.....I feel freakin AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! I can do SO much more then I could do just 2 short months ago! EVERY DAY is a new adventure of something new I can do, see, less pain, etc. I can eat ANYTHING! (I am making ALL healthy choices.) I have had NO complications. NONE. EVERYONE that sees me is saying "WOW, are you losing weight?" My response.....Why yes I am!
Bottom line........don't waste anymore good years/months of your life. My doctor told me I wasn't going to live very long pre surgery. Now I have a new lease on life. JUST DO IT!
