sublingual b12 and calcium crystals
I hate the crystals too! I bought a box of 100. That was dumb! I just got calcium chewables from the hospital pharmacy and they are much better.

Nutritional yeast?
Thanks wind fairy!

Nutritional yeast?
Has anyone tried this? It apparently is a great substitute for cheese, has a ton of protein and a lot of b12.

March 2014 Sleevers
I would call your nutritionist and ask them. How many calories do you eat a day, how many carbs and how much protein do you get? Are you measuring your waist to see if you are losing inches?

March 2014 Sleevers
Hi chan! What was your surgery date? Mine was 3/25. I was at 315 at my consult, got to 299 on surgery day due to nerves and liquid diet. I'm at 275 right now. I can't believe I've lost forty pounds. It just seems so unreal. I have my month check up tomorrow and hopefully I'll be cleared to eat more regular food! How many calories do you usually average a day? I found out yesterday I have two middle ear infections and I couldn't sleep last night because I kept feeling things move and itch and hurt on there. I just hope this clears up before I go back to work on Monday! Good luck to you!

what is the real reason I became obese?
I was sexually, physically and verbally abused by my father. Addiction and obesity run in the family. I grew up watching my parents yo yo diet and obsess about it, always trying to find the latest and greatest way to lose weight. I got so sick of hearing about it I just couldn't bring myself to be like that so I rebelled. I had a lot of magical thinking and disconnect between what I ate and my weight. I was in denial. For years I tried to convince myself that I was just fine being fat and I needed to love myself the way I was. I finally realized I was never going to be ok with being fat. I just didn't care what I ate. People say food was their best friend. I just didn't care, didn't want to plan and count and measure. I failed so many times I just gave up.

How long till you feel normal
My four week anniversary is tomorrow. Today I actually felt normal for most of the day. I can actually take some what normal drinks of liquid instead of tiny sips.

March 2014 Sleevers
Thank you. I am going to try hard to keep up with my water. I am losing steadily so that's good. I just want to feel better in the process! I'm going to aim for 800 a day and see what that does. Thanks.

March 2014 Sleevers
Hi everyone, I'm at my four week mark tomorrow and I am still having days where all I want to do is lay around and sleep. I feel so tired. I have to go to work next Monday and I am hoping to have more energy by then. I am getting about 600 calories a day. I'm wondering if I should try to increase that in order to get more energy. I'm going well with getting my protein and vitamins in. If I can't get back to a some what normal energy level I don't know how I'm going to make it at work. You have to be 100% to do my job, and then there is the hour in the car a day, dealing with all the house hold stuff and helping my d with homework and spending time with her. How is everyone doing?

Addiction Help
If I were you I would find a therapist who works with bariatric people. There are many reasons why you are still wanting sugar. Old habits are hard to break. But also there are I believe a lot of people who gain weight as protection and use food to soothe themselves. If you have trauma in your back ground that could be a huge part of it.

Help with Protein 'shots'
Usually clear liquids includes protein drinks and shakes. I can't stand Isopure, but it could he because I associate it with the hospital.

Died and gone to heaven!
Usually jerky has sugar as one of the first ingredients so I avoid it. Does this?

Really having doubts now
It depends on how tall you are. You are having major surgery, of course you are nervous. It's normal, I felt the same way! Good luck tomorrow!

Good sites for before and afters?
Sorry I meant before and after plastic surgery.

Good sites for before and afters?
A lot comes up but it's a lot of disconnected pictures that are missing their before or after.

Good sites for before and afters?
Trying to find some. I don't want to watch videos. The vids on YouTube are SO long, I just want to see pics of the different lower body options. Surgeon's sites are so limited. Thanks!

Holy Easter Candy Batman
It does suck but stay strong. if I were you I would have the kids put their candy away some place you won't have to look at it tomorrow. And then if there is extra candy take it to work or give to neighbors or throw it away.

Chew and Spit
Would Jello help you with the chewing issue? I don't think that's a good habit to get into but we all have our food issues or we wouldn't be here. I follow a woman on YouTube who is over a year out and still chews and spits bread.

Weighing in on surgery day....
What was your starting weight? Some times your body goes into starvation mode, sometimes you retain water like crazy due to stress. I wouldn't worry about it.

Weighing in on surgery day....
Five pounds is great! From what I was told, if you gain weight on the liquid diet they might postpone your surgery. I guess they have had people come in 15 pounds heavier. It's nearly impossible to gain that much on a liquid diet and they won't do the surgery because obviously the person cheated. Did you have it for two weeks or one week?
-
Do u ever wonder how people here eat such a perfect diet - all the time?
If the surgery were enough, no one would ever gain their weight back. But many do. It is very possible to stretch your pouch or sleeve, it is very possible to graze all day, to eat too many slider foods. I hope your strategy works for you but obviously it doesn't work for a lot of people who end up gaining their weight back. I don't think people are trying to be perfect, they are trying to be healthy, to get past food addiction, to be sure they take advantage of the honeymoon period, and be sure they get in enough protein and liquid every day. I would hope that you discussed your mindset with your nutritionist and your surgeon when you were pre op?

Plateau
Keep measuring yourself with a tape and sometimes you will lose inches even though the scale is stuck.

what was your first pureed meal?
The first thing I had was Taco Bell refried beans. I couldn't finish half of it. I eat a lot of Greek yogurt with PB2, cottage cheese, smoothies, protein shakes, and soup.
