Losing it!
I just had the best thing I have tasted in weeks! It's not something I will have on a regular basis and I would only eat a half cup but damn! I got some lobster bisque from Zoup, chewed the little bits of meat really well. It was SO good. Of course my husband told me I couldn't have it, I told him I know it's high in fat but I just want one thing that actually tastes wonderful once in a while. Other than that I haven't cheated at all since surgery 7 days ago. Last night he took my pictures for me. I hate them! Today I actually put on a shirt that I had to stop wearing. It actually fit. My fat roll under my bra is gone, my arms don't look like they are about to break the shirt open. My lower belly pooch is a lot smaller. Last time I wore it, the bottom kept rolling up and I had to wear a sweater over it with the bottom buttoned so people didn't see my skin. It's nice to see the difference!!!

Surgery tomorrow...ahh, the nerves!
Good luck to both of you!

Surgery tomorrow...ahh, the nerves!
I had the same worries but I decided that being healthy, active, being able to reach my feet, not having pressure incontinence and living longer were worth losing my hair, being wrinkly and having extra skin! Hair grows back, everyone gets wrinkly and there's always plastic surgery.

Okay, THIS is interesting...!
I think you are right about that in terms of where the probiotics work to help us lose weight but I am just afraid that it might be too much bacteria in a small space. I would like to ask someone with experience.

Psych Eval today
I had three! The first two were with the same guy a year apart. He barely asked me anything, he asked how long I had been overweight, why I wanted surgery, what my highest level of education was, how long I had considered surgery. He asked me how many diets I had tried. He asked about psychological problems and that was it. My third was with my surgeon office I ended up with. It was a two hour session. She told me at the beginning the only things that would make her deny me other unresolved addictions, suicidal thoughts or severe depression unrelated to weight. She really made me think and gave me a lot of good information too. It was like therapy. Good luck!

How much everyone lose in the 1st week?
The heavier you are to start with the more you lose. I lost 11 pounds, went in at 299 and was 288 one week out.

What did you tell people at work?
It's none of their business! I don't know why we feel like we are obligated to share intimate details of our lives with our coworkers. If you feel comfortable that's fine but personally I don't. I have seen people use personal information against me and other people and I'm not having it. If you were having a hysterectomy or something would you tell them? Why do you think it's any of their business?

Losing it!
Thank you! I did have a picture of myself from the day I started liquid, so 22 pounds ago. It's just my face and my torso....my god. I can see the difference now! I just had mashed potatoes and ate them waaaay too fast. I ended up getting painful hiccups and back pain; I had to lay down. So I guess cottage cheese is easy but not potatoes!

Beat thing i ever did!
You look amazing! Congrats!

Tomorrow is the day!
Good luck to you! I'm a week out, and I still in the back of my mind think "oh I need to do this or that before I have surgery". It took me so long I'm in perpetual pre op mode! I hope all goes well!

Why is wls soooo damn taboo to people?
Well I can sort of see her point in that. If I were you I would either tell them or leave the group. That's just me. You need to do what is right for you, not what is right for your sister or some stranger on the internet. But I will say that for me I would feel like it was unfair to them early on because at the beginning we do lose weight SO fast, and in a group setting women can be so let down if other people are losing faster. If they don't know it could upset them and make some of them really discouraged. Now if you were a year out and regained or wanted to lose the lady few, that's different. You are going to have to take a break at least for a while right?

Losing it!
I told my mom I've lost 25 pounds on two months and she just went "wow!" She sees me all the time, maybe she just doesn't notice it? Or maybe she didn't think it was that much by just looking at me. A lot is coming off my belly which I try to hide so of course people wouldn't know. I just had a half cup of cottage cheese and wolfed the whole thing down very quickly before I even realized what I was doing! Am I supposed to be able to eat so much just like that already? I did feel a pain in my back afterward right where my esophagus is. I'm just scared that my sleeve is too big!

What did you tell people at work?
I only told my husband and my mother. People at work think I'm having a hysterectomy. I am not interested in hearing everyone else's opinions about what I should be doing, nor in answering a million questions. Most of the women I work with are trying really hard to lose weight and although most are smaller than me, I'm just not interested in talking about it. That's all they talk about is their food and Zumba. I don't want people asking me what I'm eating and why. It could be that as more time goes on I feel comfortable talking about it but not now.

Okay, THIS is interesting...!
I tried to do this, I spent a lot of money on the exact probiotic strains that have been linked with weight loss and it had no effect on me. Maybe if I did it now it might since my diet has completely changed and I'm off diet soda. I think we need to be very careful. If you get serious live probiotics in powder form or in capsules, I would really talk to your dr first. That's a lot of action going on in a very small stomach. Maybe reduce the amount they suggest?

Losing it!
Thanks. I could kick myself!!!! I will have my husband do them tonight. I think the ones at my highest weight ever would just be too painful to look at over and over. Maybe I'll try on some old pants and see if they fit.

Why is wls soooo damn taboo to people?
It's just a tool, it's not a miracle. I'm sorry they are being obstinate. This is why I only told my husband and my mother! Honestly I think there's some jealousy from your sisters because they think you are going to be smaller than them without having to do any work.

Losing it!
I don't know what my problem is. I have lost 27 pounds in two months and it's like nothing to me. I hate that I'm feeling so sick I can't even be happy about that! I can't even bring myself to take pictures. I kept putting off the before pictures because I just don't want to be reminded of it. I feel like my shoes are looser. I can see it in my face. But I have lost weight and regained SO many times I just can't even feel happy. Especially when I know I have so far to go.

Losing it!
Thank you! I'm glad I'm normal. I went to the dr today and I'm on puréed food for three weeks. So that's good. They said my heart was racing but I couldn't tell, so they had me do more lab work. I think I was just mad that they charged me $20 for filling out FMLA paperwork. Like seriously? That five minutes is going to kill you? I see that as being part of their service as a medical doctor. It seems so petty and low class to me. So I was probably just mad at them. I'm hoping that's all it was. I ate a quarter cup of mashed potatoes and I was full. Now that I'm eating more normal food, I'm starting to worry about over doing it. I guess everyone does.

Losing it!
I'm feeling really down about not being able to eat real food. I have been hiding in the bedroom because I don't even want to see food. And I don't want to see people eating. I feel so crabby I just want to cry. I just want something with some substance to it. Just a few bites of eggs or something.....I'm dying here.

Unflavored protein powder, just started full liquids, how do you use it?
GNC has unflavored. I put some in broth yesterday and it was good.

March 2014 Sleevers
Oh that's really interesting. You should start your own thread. What is the process to get approved for the surgery there? I imagine it would be more of a lonely feeling in Japan. But again here in the US we are so overweight, and I feel bad for people who are overweight and those having surgery.

March 2014 Sleevers
I just want to say to the pre-ops, it might be difficult for the first week. Please keep in mind it's major surgery, you know what you are getting into. Don't beat yourself up mentally by regretting it or blaming yourself. This is part of the process and everyone's experience is different. Just because something is difficult doesn't mean it's not worth doing!
