  1. Congrats and welcome. You've come to the right place for support, it's all been a great experience for me.
  2. protein shakes and any other liquids, water, gatorade, crystal lite, etc...
  3. search 3 week stall and read all about it, it's normal.
  4. Congrats! Hope you have a great Christmas!
  5. You will do great Ortega. I was sleeved on 12/19 and am loving it. I have no hunger, food has no interest to me at the moment, although I can't wait to be off the protein shakes and be able to eat some real food. Your new tummy will not allow you to cheat, and if you do it'll let you know. I wish you the best of luck and hope you have a quick recovery. Just some advice, roll your shoulders for any gas pain in the chest/back/shoulders...it helped me alot!
  6. I was told not to do protein shots because they are a different type of protein and that your body can only absorb so much at one time, so it's kind of a waste.
  7. I was sleeved 12/19, left the hospital on full liquids and was told I could add mashed taters, yogurt, soups, and cream of wheat on 12/26. But I'm having a spoonful of potato soup on xmas day. I weighed on 12/23 and was down 10 lbs.
  8. Hi Letty, welcome to the forum. It is great for support. I started a little higher weight than you and also tried losing it on my own for 10+ years and never could do it, not permanently anyway. So I did a ton of research and decided on the sleeve, then researched my surgeon. I was sleeved on 12/19, am down 10 lbs. already and am not hungry at all. It's nice to have control back. I would suggest having the surgery, if you've tried and failed time and time again...this is one thing that you can't fail at....at least not for a few years anyway. Good luck on your journey!
  9. Congrats. I was sleeved 12/19. For the gas, I would do shoulder rolls and rubbed circles on my stomach to move it around. You can also use gas-x strips to. Are you eating already?? I'm on liquids until Wed;, then I can have strained soups, cream of wheat, eggs, yogurt w/o fruit. Things do get better. I have no pain, no nausea, and haven't had any trouble. Just do the best you can and try to get all your protein and liquids in so you don't dehydrate.
  10. Congrats. I was sleeved on the 19th. You only have a gain due to all the liquids they pushed during your surgery and don't forget all the swelling. I weighed yesterday and was down 10 lbs. A word of advise, don't get on the scale everyday, you will drive yourself crazy. I wasn't planning on weighing until Wed. but couldn't resist. I will weigh again on Wed., then once a week afterwards. It's also a good idea to take measurements, because when you're in a stall your body will lose inches to adjust. Good luck!!
  11. I was told it would peel off on it's own and not to take it off....don't want your wounds opening. But if he said to use fingernail polish remover...that sounds like it'd be painful.
  12. There are several, but my Dr. said they aren't that great because your body can only absorb so much protein at once so it's kind of a waste.
  13. I only stayed 1 night. My Dr. didn't do a leak test; they can usually see it while they're in there. If they do send you home, just make sure and get your liquids in as much as you can, walk often, and when you're not walking do ankle rolls and stuff to keep the blood flowing. I wouldn't want to be sent home hours after surgery....that is too soon for my taste, but I'm sure you will be fine. Good luck!
  14. Look great. Good job on workin the sleeve...keep it up!
  15. Congratulations! Wouldn't you rather use a pillow than a tire? lol
  16. Hi there, I haven't noticed a problem with dilation, but I have noticed since my surgery I can see better out of my right eye without my glasses. Weird huh?
  17. It's true, just stick with the plan and it'll catch up. When you're not losing weight you may be losing inches because your body has to catch up.
  18. You taking all your vitamins?
  19. Hey girl, you need to force it. I am 4 days post-op and also have no appetite at all, but I drink my protein for breakfast and dinner and then focus on liquids in between. You just need to find something you can tolerate,...gatorade, crystal lite, fruit water, something. You don't want to end up back in the hospital!
  20. I feel pretty good! I had it very easy apparently, I didn't need any pain meds after surgery, was up walking within a few.. The gas pain was bad in my shoulders, but I did shoulder rolls and it relieved it fairly quickly. Not hungry at all either, which is weird, because whenever my family eats and I smell the food, my mind says "should you be eating to", but my tummy says, "not interested". lol Good luck on your journey, you will do great!
  21. men lose quicker than woman period!! lol They have more muscle which burns more fat
  22. I get a "cramp" feeling in my sternum or burp alot, so I stop and wait 10-15 minutes before having anymore
  23. Congrats! That is awesome! Keep up the good work. I'm down 10 so far, but only 4 days post-op
  24. Sorry your Dr. chastised you, that wasn't cool at all and very unprofessional. You've lost 38 lbs. in 2 months? I think that is pretty good, it's an average of almost 4 lbs. a week, which is more than you would've been able to do on your own pre-sleeve. I wouldn't worry about it, it'll start up again, and remember when you're not losing weight, your body is losing inches to catch up.
  25. Hi ortega. I was sleeved on 12/19 and did well. I didn't need any pain meds,, got in my walking and have been working on getting in my protein. Some advise, if you get gas pain in your chest, shoulders just do shoulder rolls, back and forth and squeeze together...it relieved it fairly quickly. I also would rub my stomach in circles to move it around, just lightly over the incisions of course. I was sent home the following day and as of this morning am down 10 lbs. Just keep your eye on the prize and try not to focus on what you CAN"T eat. I'm not hungry at all, so it's been pretty easy. Good luck!
