Hello everyone , I am nervous because the count down has begun !!!!!! December 14 th is my birthday, December 15th I graduate with a dual degree and on the 20th is my sleeve day!

May 2012 at 254 pds had my surgery June 28, 2012 and now October 24, 2012 188 pds

I think it's probably a wrong idea to get it stuck in your head that everyone's life revolves around your WLS. He could say the same thing about the out of pocket money, if any, you paid. Having to do extra house hold chores that you can't do while you are recovering and taking care of you/kids if you are sick out. It does suck, don't get me wrong, but this is your journey.

It's an emotional time. Casting blame won't make anything better. You signed on for a life change, which also includes what goes on in your head. The only behaviors and thoughts you can control are your own. Your choice for vsg and changes since may have been stressful for your husband as well.

I'm also 3 months out and 52 lbs down and I live in Louisiana haha we have lots in common you look great!!

Jessica, when I found out I was approved I called my coordinator who then called and got the verbal approval as well. You don't have to wait on the paper! That could be a week or so. Anyway...CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Ok I couldn't stand it anymore so I called my insurance. I am approved!!!! Now just have to wait for Dr to receive the letter and call me.

Okay soooo, I am BARELY thirty (I still feel like 25 though) and my dream is to wear a bikini someday too! Or gosh, even a one piece would be nice. I'd love to know if anyone has been able to come back this with a smokin' hot bod. LOL! I know that's not what our focus should be on, but it definitely is a dream of mine.

Today is a great day!!!!!! My papers went to the insurance company 7 days ago and today I found out it was APPROVED!

Yes I understand I was originally denied I got approved on appeal... I prayed and I asked god you know if this isnt for me then so be it. I would just have to work harder. And I left it with him. Less then 24 hours later they called me and said I was approved. Dont worry just pray and leavint with god whats for you is FOR YOU!!!

I know it's medically necessary.
I have hypertension, sleep apnea, acid reflux, arthritis, pre-diabetic, fibromyalgea, ms, and other things. It is my plan that has been my nightmare. They want me to be at 40+ for 5+ consecutive years. I can't do that with the ms. My grandma passed away at 62 because she was morbidly obese with diabetes. She had congestive heart failure because of her weight and health issues. We sent all kinds of documentation and my personal letter siting medical facts, family history, and reasoning for why I want the sleeve. I hope it works and the IRO can get past 40+ for 5+ years..,.

Ok it took me all day but I finally got my PCP to send over the corrected weight. My surgeon's office will submit my file first thing tomorrow morning.

Quickly go to the doctor to check your blood preasure I am sure it is through the roof right now. Have them log it so it will show a comorbity

I'm so glad to hear things have gone smoothly with Dr. Jossart. I have an appt to see him for my consultation on 1/10 with the NUT and psych on the same day. I'm coming down from the Sacramento area and Patty has been a wonderful with helping me coordinate everything. I'm so excited for you that things are zipping along!! I'll be watching your progress and hope to be right behind you!!

I keep hearing UHC likes to deny up to three times before approving this type surgery. As soon as I have my latest denial letter I am sending in the request for an expedited external review.
Thought I had done that, but UHC wanted to tell me no one more time.
Jerks. But now it is outof their hands. Thank god for the IRO.

Good luck to you too! Guess maybe they do all this to stress us out and make us quit. Can't say I haven't thought about quitting..but its gonna have to take a little more than this hang up!

I have UCH and it has been so stressful.
My requirements are
Current BMI 40+
BMI of 40+ for 5+ years
Over the age of 21.
UHC has used the 40+ for 5+ years to deny me over and over. Finally made it through all internal appeals and went to external appeal. I hope I hear this week the final answer.
My fingers have been crossed for 5 months now. I just hope the external review does see this as medically necessary...
