  1. My surgeon had no preop diet to "shrink" the liver. He said he uses his medical training and surgical instruments to position the liver out of the way
  2. 10 days out your stomach is not yet healed and is still swollen. You may not be able to feel that you are hurting yourself. Just because you can eat something doesn't necessarily mean you should.
  3. Follow your doctors plan. At only 3 days out I wouldn't worry so much about protein. Work on getting in your water. Congrats and good luck!
  4. Unfortunately they are carbonate
  5. I have nor rtd premiere protein drink in the morning. I use the vanilla add 1 tablespoon of instant coffee to 3 oz hot water and use a shaker bottle mixing coffee protein shake and ice. It is my daily treat and I look forward to it every morning.
  6. I have an older polar ft4 with the chest strap. The HRM is a great motivator when working out because you really push yourself. Don't trust those exercise totals on MFP it's total bs. I'm sorry but you don't burn 400 calories doing 30 minutes of gardening.
  7. In the beginning adding protein to regular yogurt is fine but when you get to the point where you want to lower your calories and stay full adding 100+ calories to regular yogurt won't make much sense.
  8. Some of us think after surgery we won't have to watch/count calories. I hate to be the bearer of bad news.....
  9. Try to shallow breathe your way through it. Had a similar experience yesterday. After my lunch I unconsciously reached for my water bottle and took a HUGE swallow. My surgery was 3/18/13 and I have never thrown up but I thought I was going to hurl. The feeling passed after 10 minutes and I was finally able to take normal breaths.
  10. Ensure has 11 gm fat, 50 carb, 18 sugar, and 350 cals
  11. Prior to surgery i worried about this a lot more than i should have. I have had lunch several times with co workers and no one notices how much or little I eat. They are too busy scarfing their own lunch down. I remember being worried people would notice by 15 pound weight loss after being off for two weeks post surgery. I quickly learned that 15 lbs off a starting weight of 270 meant I was still too fat for anyone to notice the difference
  12. Time, protein and more exercise. Do what you can do and each day gets better.
  13. Please measure your food. You are still healing and probably won't feel full until you move to dense protein.
  14. Completely Normal. It gets better just trust the process.
  15. How much are you eating and what are you eating? Some foods definitely go down easier than dense proteins.
  16. And what happened when we lost all that weight super quick..... ?
  17. You just have to do it. The body will remember what to do. Start a little slow and the energy will pick up.
  18. Seminar 6/2012, first visit with surgeon 9/2012 with 6 month preop diet and surgery 3/2013
  19. Hey hook you up to an EKG machine it's easy you just lay there. They may also have you walk and then test you again. Oh I also had to blow into a tube.
  20. Believe it or not not a lot of people are going to notice 15 lbs. tell them you had to take care of some personal family business and then look mournful. It worked for me
  21. I know the word diet is scary. The week before surgery I started devising ways not to do surgery after reading the forums and seeing what looked to be diet behavior. Counting calories and carbs was not what I wanted to do! The funny thing is that the surgery enabled me to "diet". I saw results quickly. This was nothing like depriving myself for six weeks and having nothing to show for it. I had almost instant results. This was so encouraging finally calorie cutting actually worked. The truth of the matter is if you want to lose weight you have to eat less and be mindful of how you are eating. My sleeve makes it easier. We should come up with another word other than diet it has too many negative connotations. For now I am so grateful to be successfully dieting
  22. You can point and laugh at it. What can I say I'm easily entertained
  23. You can have anything you want as long as you are willing to "pay" for it
  24. That is all
