Delena2/11 got a reaction from Daydra in What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
    Greetings All,
Boy there have been many straws that have been stacking up on that poor camel's back.
    1. Went to see the show. I could not fit comfortably in my seat. My hubby and I stood in the back.
    2. I had a nice gelding that I ended up selling because I could not ride anymore. I had him for 12 years and it broke my heart.
    3. I love to travel but I wont because I am embarassed to deal with the seating.
    4. Went recently to a horse training thing to be certified as an equine facilitated learning equine specialist. One of the participants asked me if I was comfortable around horses. They assumed that because I was heavy I wasn't a horseperson.
    5. I am embarassed because I take the elevator up at work. I walk down but huff and puff going up so I rarely do. I pass much older folk taking the stairs up to get to the elevator.
    6. Seat belts!
    7. My son realizing I am heavier than many other adults.
    8. I want to go riding with my horse friends. They go to sweet camping trips and trail rides that I cannot do anymore.
    9. Clothes!
    10. chaffing!
    11. aching ankles and knees.
    and the list goes on!!!
Looking forward to starting my processes!

Went to the doctors and my blood pressure was 98/58. Way to low! So I am no longer taking blood pressure meds. Something I have been looking forward to, but didn't expect for it to happen only 3 weeks out of surgery. So glad I decided to go to the doctors. :0)

You could have several things going on with you. 1. your blood count could be low 2. you can have a Iron deficiency or 3. you need to come off your blood pressure medicine or your blood pressure medicine needs to be changed but make sure you go see your doctor.

I've been on blood pressure for almost 7 years.....one of the reasons for having this surgery. My blood pressure meds did change after my surgery. I will be calling my doctor today.

Delena2/11 got a reaction from Chaparra in So frustrating. Gaining? On week 3
I'm a month out and I had the same thing happen to me for a week. I think we just shocked the hell out of our system and it is trying really hard to keep things as they were. Not gonna happen! Don't worry, it will come off. I am now drinking drinking drinking btwn meals and I only "eat" three times a day. If I'm hungry before bed I'll have a fudge sickle or a Greek yogurt but I try to eat nothing but "protein and produce" at my meals. I read that in a book. I think I was eating too much (still not much) but not drinking enough. This has really helped me and the scales moving again.
I know I should not be so obsessed with the scale but I cannot seem to help it! It's like heroine! It calls to me. Good luck you will do just fine!

Compass, that is just how I felt! Even sitting on the stretcher waiting to go back. It was a peaceful and easy decision and I never waffled. That is amazing for me as I am sooo indecisive about a lot of things.
Best of luck to you tomorrow! If you have a family member that can stay at least over night with you take advantage of it. It was so hard to get up to walk or go to the bathroom! Can't wait to hear about your successful journey! Delena

Good for you Star! I would also keep practicing not drinking with meals. I wish I took that a little more seriously because I'm finding it really hard. Not that I have much solid food yet at about 2 weeks out but still. I find myself constantly having to be reminded before grabbing a drink. Best of luck to you!

I've been honest when people ask about my surgery so far but it is uncomfortable. Just trying to come up with a good way to explain it to a lay person. Most everyone has been very supportive though. I will continue to tell people because when I start to really look as though I've lost a lot of weight I will have to say something and I am a horrible liar. One way or the other it seems to be an uncomfortable moment either way...

Delena2/11 got a reaction from Babysteppin in Fears?
Brandy, Maybe giving them some information would help them understand? Even seeing some YouTube videos. They are just worried for you. I was really afraid my family would react the same way but they have been just great. Those that have not been as supportive have just been uninformed or they just are not really going to be their for me.
Maybe you can take them to an informational seminar with you? You look very young. I have not looked at your profile. I have struggled with wt all my life and am 40. I just don't see how I could have done it on my own, ever. If we had centuries to figure things out that would be one thing. It would be great to be able to to it ourselves but the scientific data does not support that either. IMO if you have not been successful controlling your wt you should consider this option. You are NOT being selfish you are investing in yourself. You are making sure you will be there for those precious children. Best of luck to you!

Delena2/11 reacted to jenniesue in 45lbs, 6 weeks, and HUMMUS! :)
Cannot believe it has taken me this long, but I think I'm finally getting over the nausea hump. It's still there and I still have a hard time stomaching my own saliva. Either have to swallow it with Water or spit it out. My sleeve is a little wuss right now. LOL. However, the nausea is only there half the time... Woohoo!!
I feel that I can finally Celebrate my weight-loss.. 45 lbs in 6 weeks! I stayed the same for about a week, but that's likely because I was in starvation mode. Literally no food or Protein drinks since about 5 days post-op will do that to a person. That's 5 straight weeks no nutrients. I kept asking asking the doctors how I was alive. The 3 ER visits for IV fluids were basically keeping me afloat plus I got more fluids when they did another endoscope. (BTW, the official prognosis was that I'm fine, just a slow healer & my stomach is more swollen than most.)
Now to the exciting part!! I ate actual food yesterday! On a whim I bought 3-olive hummus, and no nausea after eating! I was able to eat about a tablespoon. I basically just licked it off the wheat thin mostly. But, did get about 3 wheat thins in, too. I'm so energized! This is the push I needed.
Here's to my new life finally beginning!

So I did it! I just signed up for a spring co-ed slo-pitch softball league, starting in mid-April!
I haven't played softball since I was 17 years old (I'm 43 now!), but I love the game and I've missed it alot! I decided last year when I had my VSG in the spring, that this spring, I would be playing again.
And now I am all set to go!
I finally hit onderland a few days ago, so I am confident I will be able to play fairly well and not get too winded or injured due to my size (the main reason I haven't played for so long).
So exciting! I can't wait for April 15!
    WOOHOOO!

Hi There Takingachance. I am also about a week out. My sleeve seems to like warm Protein. I have warmed up EAS Carb Advantage (even though it tells you not to) and it tastes better to me. I also found some hot chocolate that I like online from New Life Bariatrics. They have a variety pack that is nice with a bunch of flavors in it. Good luck to you sleeve sister!

Some of my family have said this to me, I just explained to them that I am tired of all the yo-yo dieting, and that this will help with that and if they don't like it don't let the door hit you on the way out.....

Best Wishes for you Susie. I was sleeved last Monday and I am so happy already! I am hopeful for a bright future for the first time in forever and cannot believe that I am finally done. I know it is scarey but it is so worth it. I remember waiting to go back to the OR. I thought I would be scared and nervous but I was just ready and excited and ready for the new chapter in my life. I gotta say that I am soooo tired of my clear liquid diet but I can hang in there because I am NOT hungry! I have to remind myself to eat already. Best of luck to you and see you on the losers bench!

Lets see, could it have been the same inconsiderate person asking me on 2 different occassions when I was 'due'? Or distant relatives saying "well if you are happy at that size then it shouldnt matter what others think"? Or always having to squeeze into a restaurant booth? Or being ashamed to even eat in front of people for fear of being judged? Or always having to shop in the big girls section at any store and only fitting into clothes my gramma would wear? Or not being able to reach to shave the back side of my legs? Or having to be a contortionist to wipe my ass? Pick one. I lived with constant humiliation and shame. Now I dont shop at the big girl stores, no one asks if Im pregnant, people are amazed at how little I eat at one time, I can fit in any booth, shave my legs and wipe my ass like a champ I love my sleeve. I have so much energy, I sleep great and most importantly, Im proud of myself.
