Alma is AMAZING and very nice!!! I contacted Ready4Achange and she was the one I spoke with. She was very attentive and understanding and answered all my questions. We talked about the different options, locations, and doctors and we together decided Dr. Garcia in Tijana, MX was the best fit for me.

I was sleeved on Oct. 30th with Dr. Garcia and I would highly reccomend him!!! The care coordinators that looked after me were Rosie and Melissa... Alma was not in Tijuana during my stay but Rosie and Melissa were wonderful!!!! The Dr.'s staff were very pleasant and always put my needs first. A couple of the staff there had the sleeve as well and so it was very nice to be able to talk to someone first hand that had gone through with it.

If you choose Dr. Garcia, you won't be dissapointed!

I'm doing great... was sleeved on 10/30 and as of today down 63.8 pounds! I only weigh in on Saturdays and have not seen a stall yet. Knock on wood! I've got about 40+ pounds to go to reach goal!!! So excited!

I definitely would encourage going through the coordinators... they help handle everything and all the reservations, drivers, etc. They are like your personal assistants and will help you with whatever you may need. Having a driver pick us up at the airport and take us across the boarder was so stress free.. I couldn't imagine going through all this on my own.

Learn to cook... its not that hard. Most WLS recipes I have used are pretty easy to follow.
For instance today I am eating...
5am Breakfast- oatmeal + Torani banana Syrup
    7am pre workout Protein shake
    9am post workout Protein Shake
10am Brunch- 2 scrabled eggs + 2 pieces of turkey bacon
    12pm Snack-beef jerkey
2:30pm Late lunch- 4oz grilled chicken + honey garlic sauce + asparagus
    6:30pm Dinner- 4oz steak + veggies
About an hour or two before bed I might have a late night snack which is usually a hard boiled egg or beef Jerky.
Everything I listed above is very easy to prepare. The above is usually what I eat daily and just mix up the Proteins between steaks, chicken, pork, tuna and salmon. I usually change up the marinades and seasonings of the Proteins too.
But like I said most of the weight loss recipes I have founds online are pretty easy to follow and I am no cook. I actually made a pretty awesome pizza last week from scratch.
Here are some links to check out... recipes look pretty straight forward and easy.

    Love this thread!!!
I too have felt as if I am a slow loser... My surgery date was 10/30/12 and I've lost 47 pounds. I've been seeing a very consistent weight loss of 1-2 pounds a week... sometimes I get a 2.5 or 3 lbs loss, but I would have to say 1-2 lbs is a very common weight loss for me. I have NOT had a stall yet... KNOCK ON WOOD... I can eat mostly whatever just at a very restricted amount. I do NOT get all the Protein and Water in that I should... but I try.
Thank you for posting such an encouraging post. I know I'm in this for the long haul and would rather lose slowly but surely. I do not regret my decision at all to have this surgery and I look forward to what the future holds for me.

I too was sleeved by Dr. Garcia in Tijuana at Mi Doctor Hospital. I did not experence ANYTHING like you've described. Thank god! I'm so sorry your experience was rough. I went through R4AChange and my coordinators were amazing and there for anything and everything I needed. I did not see any naked people.. thank god! Didn't wait very long at alll.. and yes their way down there is a little different but I would reccomend it to anyone.

Head hunger was the most emotional thing for me to deal with... and because you can only take a couple of bites of things... I struggled with wanting to eat more or finishing something, I wasn' t hungry, it was just the fact of mind over matter I suppose. But I'm about 4 months out now and can eat pretty much whatever I want... however I choose what goes in my mouth and make good decisions.
I too am the cook in the family... and that part is actually not bad at all. I kind of enjoy cooking more now than before and don't really have the urge to indulge... I just take my little portion of whatever I made and it's all good.
Just take one day at a time...

Hey there! I'm a 10/11/12 sleever and down a total of 79 pounds since highest (56 post-op) and made it to "one-derland" today! Soooo happy! Time to go down a jean size (finally! From size 18 to 16 took a huge weight loss to do it! Strange how some sizes go fast and others take a larger loss to get to. I guess that's why loss of inches is sometimes more important than the numbers on the scale.)

Reading this thread has me really excited to start my journey with running. I am going to take it slow and start the C25K program first. I am currently 3 months out from my surgery and I have been actively for the last 4 weeks training 3x a week with a personal trainer. Mainly focusing on strength training and building my muscle mass back up.
I have to admit though.. and maybe it's because of only being 3 months out... but I still struggle getting in enough Protein and Water throughout the day and worry about if my body can even handle running at this point due to the lack of nutrition. Any suggestions for that???
I'm in WI, so running outside right now isn't really the best, so I plan to start out on the treadmill... but once it warms up a little I'm definitely going to take it outside. I am signing up for a 5k on May 25th... it' s The Color Run, which is non-competitive and SUPER fun!!! So I think it's a good first run for me to set as my goal.
All of you on this tread are such an inspiration!!!
