Bipass Or Sleeve - Now I’M Confused
It's true the sleeve has not been around as long as the bypass surgery, but I had read that it's essentially the same surgery that they've been using for decades for stomach cancer and ulcers. Anyone else read this?

I'm Out
Ill be very direct (as usual). Emily, if you didn't want us to talk you out of quitting, you would have just left without posting. Think about it. I backed out 5 years ago (and 35 pounds ago) thinking like you. And here I am pre-op, jumping thru the hoops again. Good luck in whatever decision you make - we wish you nothing but the best

Fmla (Medical Leave)
My doctor suggests 4 to 6 weeks. I want the entire 6 weeks. We have temporary disability insurance that we pay for out of every paycheck. I can use that for the entire 6 weeks. Yah, having it taken out sucks but getting some of it back when you need it is awesome

One Of My Weight Loss Goals!
My husband told me that he doesn't want me buying any more clothes until after surgery. This is a good thing - means he's getting used to the idea.

Non Food Rewards
Iffy chick - I will be halfway at 75 pounds hence the need for mini goals - I think it's gonna be a long journey

Nsv - Someone Finally Noticed!
Do you think there are people out there who will see your weight loss and not say anything due to jealousy. For some reason, they don't want to validate your decision? I've lost weight and no one said anything - it was disheartening. The worse thing is that even though the scale said one thing, my clothes didn't feel it either.

Friends- Can We Really Keep Them?
My best friend of 20 Years has remained my friend through most of my weight gain. She is a nurse and although she doesn't lecture me, we have talked about my health as it relates to my weight. When I told her of my decision she was very supportive. She is thinner than me and said that she can't wait until I'm able to do more stuff with her like we used to. When she said this, wow it hit me how much "life" I've been missing. I know she'll be my friend after the surgery and will probably be my biggest supporter as I go through this life-changing transition. I can't say that about anyone else in my life - I'm so blessed to have her!!!

Non Food Rewards
I've decided to set up a reward schedule for myself. Every 25 lbs lost I will allow myself to buy a non food gift to myself. What would your list look like? 50

Avwerage Weight Loss - What Are The Numbers?
I'm still scared but will go thru it anyways -- for my health. I'm trying to go thru the necessary appointments and not think about it too much - guess I'm scared of failing this. I've never been into exercise physically ( but in my head - I'm a runner LOL). I think I've just gotten used to being lazy and sedentary. Guess I'm not feeling too strong minded today.

Why Don't I Just Tell People I Had Sleeve Surgery
I've thought about this a lot. I've told my husband of course, my mom, sisters, brother and one best friend. Only one person knows at work and that's because she's in human resources and I wanted to find out if my insurance would cover it. Luckily she was supportive (knows people that it has worked for) and I felt good about having one person at work to talk to. It's hard not to talk about this - it will dramatically change my life! I didn't tell anyone else at work because they are "clicky" and I didn't want to be the subject of their lunchtime get-togethers! I think I will tell more after the deed is done, the weight starts to drop and my confidence and self esteem grows. I'm just not there yet.
