I have a friend who was sleeved and within a week he was eating soft but real food and not liquid. I don't know if it is based in the surgical technique and whether you've been sewn in addition to stapled... but he did say that he chews until it is practically liquid in his mouth. He says that he has been able to appreciate the flavor much better and much more vs. being so focused on quantity.

Good luck to you!!!

Well firstly you are not starving. The hunger you have is probably head hunger. Slow down and enjoy your full liquids: shakes, yogurt, pudding, jello, cream soups. You will be moving on sooner than you think. You want to give your tummy time to heal and not rush it. Occupy your self with other non-food related things that you like to do, go for a walk. Hang in there, you will do this.

You might find it helpful to eat/drink your shakes, soups and other liquids in 2 oz quantities every hour. This allows you to eat something every hour and turbo charges your healing and metabolism. This is a recommendation from my NUT and helped me during first few weeks. Even today, I follow a similar pattern and eat 3 oz of protein solid every 3 hours. It works out really well and I only occasionally get hungry. Hunger usually comes on if I miss a 3hour meal like 3 pm because I took an afternoon nap on a weekend. Other then that, no issues with hunger, ever.

Green pea soup is very filling and feels like real food.

I had surgery on Oct 8th too!

Im also hungry..... my dr. let me start Protein shakes. Im also having a very hard time drinking my Protein shake, I usualy only have 1 a day and It takes me all day to drink. I know its not enough but what can i do? I Cant figure out the formula on how to drink H20 and protein? Im so frustrated.... I started to regret all of this. I had the cheese top of my kids pizza, it went dwn. k but i felt so guilty and was scared!! I also had a cigrette which prior to all of this I was a social a smoker but find my self wanting to smoke to take the hunger edge away... WTF

I had surgery Oct 8th....I'm super hungry and tired of the same old same....I cooked my family chilli tonight and tasted one kidney bean lol...

I had canned salmon today and it helped out a LOT. It may have been the fewer carbs I had today, or the little bit of healthy fat in salmon.

I cant drink the reg protein shakes like the atkins i have but i bought crystal lite and unflavored protein and its works ok

I had really bad head hunger the first two weeks as well. I was begging anyone I knew to bring me something to chew up swearing that I would spit it out instead of eating it. It's kind of funny now but it really wasn't then. I went to a restaurant and ordered French onion soup and ask them to leave out the onions and it actually hit the spot for what I was craving. During the liquid stage everything seems so sweet it's nice to have a break from that.

I was told by the Dr. that I could also have cottage cheese, low fat/sugar free greek yogurt and cream of wheat. BuT I've read about people eating tuna and eggs and chill, and all kids of soups. But she didn't want me eating any kind of soup other than cream of chkn. or Lentil soup. Anything low in carb high in protein. Im just FULL and I want real food :/

I have canned salmon often also. It is tasty, makes a great snack and has a high amount of Protein. trader Joe's carries a good wild salmon product.

Wish the salmon would work i cant stand seafood the smell makes qweezy always has but i am glad it works for u guys . I am way to picky it a wonder how i got chubalicious in the first place lol

I think it's pretty common to feel like that in the first couple weeks especially. I remember just wanting to chew something so bad! Mine was ALOT head hunger from boredom... also if you aren't already definitely talk to your doctor about taking a PPI. I felt very hungry when I was taking the Protonix that the surgeon sent me home with.. but when I ran out and started taking my Prilosec again the hunger STOPPED. No joke. I keep reading that alot of times what we interpret as hunger is actually too much acid in our stomachs.. just something to look into ;)
