Dr Ponce Deleon?
I am scheduled for surgery with Dr. Ponce on September 14th.. I was told pre op diet is yogurt and Water for 3 days and then of course nothing after midnight the night before surgery.. nice and simple. Was thinking I bet all that yogurt helps to keep our intestine nice and healthy with lots of the good kind of bacteria I am using Trish as my coordinator, she's been wonderful. I've spoken to MANY people through this forum as well as obesityhelp forums and have yet to hear one complaint about Dr Ponce. At this point I feel confident with my decision to use him. I will be at INT hospital in TJ for 2 nights and then at the Lucerna (hotel) for 1 night. I can't WAIT! one thing I've noticed is that it seems like most of the doctors in Mexico give you a kind of generalized post op diet to follow.. so I've been researching through forums as well as googling to find out what other people's docs and nuts are telling them to do for post op diet, and even those seem to vary quite a bit so I've decided to just stick to one of the most strict/careful diets and play it safe. I am also going to find a nutritionist here local to me before I leave for surgery so that I have someone I can see at least a couple times.. Good luck to you!

Fast Track To Sleeve
I understand the feeling like you are rushing or something LOL I decided on July 5th and had a date scheduled by July 26th.. I scheduled my surgery for September 14th but would have done it waaaaaay sooner if I could have gotten the time off work.. had to wait til I could get 10 or 12 days off in a row because I'm a nurse and work 12 hr shifts on my feet & figured I'll need some time to heal before I have to go back LOL

Chantix
it made me VERY depressed and restless right about day 10 or so.. but also that same day I suddenly didn't care about smoking anymore.. so I quit smoking and immediately tapered back off of it over a few days

Damn U Ambien
I've never taken it but I know 2 different people who took it just before climbing into bed.. unfortunately they both woke up in their cars.. and neither of them remembered getting out of bed let alone driving! One totaled her car and was injured, the other gal fortunately 'just' ended up on some random person's lawn.. besides the addictive nature of it these stories also scared the crap out of me. Scary that docs prescribe it to people who don't know about it and for the most part we trust our doctors..

Saving Up
I gotta jump in on this one LOL I am an operating room nurse with great insurance except it will not cover ANYTHING weight loss related!! can you imagine?! in this day and age? LOL so I am going to Mexico with Dr Ponce next month. It costs 5500 and I am financing about 4000 because I didn't want to wait any longer to change my life and better my health. Also I just bought my first house this year so my savings basically all went into closing this house. Anyway I know I can work extra here and there or use a tax refund to hopefully pay it off sooner than the 3 yrs they gave me. Honestly I believe this is a smart move for me. At work I see (on a daily basis) what strokes and heart attacks and diabetes do to people.. I'm done! Basically it is SO worth it to me to pay crappy interest if it means I can do this right away. I'm not suggesting that everyone should just run out and take out a loan for this.. but for ME it was a valid option and I'm grateful the option was there!

Border Parking At Tijuana?
ahhh ok LOL I had my gall bladder removed laparoscopically years ago and all I remember of it was of course the gas pain... but also the drive home. hahaha at the time we lived way out in the country off of a bunch of poorly paved roads and then a couple miles of dirt roads and every single bump made me go "ouch!!!" hahaha I'm definitely bringing my own pillow for 2 reasons.. #1 so that I sleep better while there.. and #2 so that I can hold it over my belly if I need to while we are driving

Border Parking At Tijuana?
have any of you used the border parking on the US border? I am going to TJ but was told it might be cheaper to park at the border parking lots than it is to park at the airport.. wondering if anyone knows what the going rate is? TIA

A Few Questions..
- 10 Days Post Op Not Feeling Well
wondering how you are doing... I'm glad you went to the hospital because it is NOT normal to have red blood in a drain again 10 days post op! saying a prayer that everything is ok for you! hang in there!- Sept 17!
- Incisions
it just depends on how many instruments they need in your belly at the same time.. each incision allows a port to be placed in it and they slide an instrument through each one- Girly Stuff In Mexico
LOL I am SO right there with ya on not wanting to go into surgery looking like a hairy ugly nail girl hahaha I am an OR nurse and this is in NO way medical advice, just my experience. I have not had any patients that I know of in a LONG time come to the OR with those instructions... but I am sure it's prob based on the surgeons' comfort level. I would definitely check with Dr. Kelly. We shave people IN the operating room after they are under anesthesia all the time.. but we also immediately prep their skin right after and we use a combination of any or one of the following based on surgeon preference: betadine, chloraprep, hibiclens, rubbing alcohol. We do realllllllly like having a fingernail we can put a pulse-ox on so we can see how your oxygen saturation is throughout surgery, but I work in a major trauma center so we get people all the time rolling into emergency surgery after car accidents and gunshot wounds etc with fake nails on and there ARE other places to put that probe so again, just ask your surgeon's office and it's typically up to your anesthesiologist's comfort level as they will be the one monitoring that throughout surgery. Anyway that's just some info... and I hear Omar is super nice so I'm sure he won't mind you giving him a call! My advice is just follow whatever they recommend- 3 Weeks Post Op Pic
WOW!!! amazing! you look great!- Bummed At People's Reactions
