  1. Syntrax Nectar, it's a yummy protein powder, there's tons of yummy flavors google and you'll find lots of places that sell variety packs so you can try different flavors before you buy a big container
  2. I am 8 days out and still learning. Tonight I guess i ate one bite too many of creamed soup and all of a sudden I was nauseous LOL like outta nowhere. Guess maybe I need to slow down even more and pay closer attention LOL
  3. we are the 3 amigos of sleeve sisterhood hahahaha seriously for everyone getting ready to get sleeved, it SO helps if you can connect with one or two people through the forums, especially if they are going to be staying at the same hotel. I was so lucky to have these other 2 ladies to bond over stomach gurgling and burping with me hahaha walk walk walk sip sip sip! and we are keeping in touch and comparing notes as we progress through post op diet
  4. yay!! excited for you! I just got sleeved by Dr. Ponce last Friday and it was a great experience!!!
  5. they make Gas-X strips that melt in your mouth.. that way you don't have to swallow anything!
  6. I feel like I am constantly sipping on something LOL my doctor told me to "eat" (have broth or soup) every 3-4 hours with Water in between
  7. because there's so much variation in our surgeons post op diets I thought I'd see what everyone else is doing post op day 7-14.. I am post op day 7 and basically still doing lots of Clear liquids with some full liquids thrown in.. one or two Protein shakes a day.. getting in about 60-70 oz Water (if you include all the broth lol) taking my chewable multivit and feeling good!
  8. I was sleeved on 9-14 so I'm 6 days post op and down 17 lbs since surgery LOL I have no idea how that is even possible and checked both scales 3 times LOL I'm doing full liquids and tolerating it fine, no nausea or anything. Been off pain meds since the night of surgery and the only thing bothering me is all the burping and the itchy incisions LOL that's a small price to pay for my health! I go back to work Tuesday so I'm resting up and getting in my walking!
  9. I'm doing great!!! no nausea or anything, getting all my water and stuff. Pre op diet is just 3 days yogurt and water. I didn't lose anything pre op LOL I had a great experience with Dr Ponce and Trish! if you haven't already check out my pics in the link in my signature, it really helped me to feel more comfortable after seeing a couple other people's photos on here
  10. I agree 100% about the wild variation in post op diets!!!!! my doc's diet says Clear Liquids for 10 days then full liquids for another 10. I am 6 days post op. I've been getting in lots of Water, broth, and sugar free popsicles. I also had some SF Jello but took really small bites and chewed the crap out of it LOL I also am tired of liquids hahaha the other 2 girls that had surgery with me in Mexico the same day went to 2 other doctors and have 2 completely different post op diets. One's says she has to do clear liquids for only 3 days then "home soft diet". After talking to LOTS of people on here and other forums and reading LOTS of other doctor's diet plans I decided to add in some Protein shakes yesterday. It really helped me with energy levels and today I feel basically normal. The only way I can tell I had surgery is because I'm not hungry LOL 3 of my very good "in person" friends all had to be able to tolerate a small amount of Protein shake before they could even leave the hospital! Basically I'm sticking with clear liquids and Protein Shakes for now and taking it VERY slow.. but I'm also very interested in what other people's doctors are saying. Something must be working though.. down 17 lbs already since surgery (blows my mind!)
  11. I had surgery on the 14th and 6 days later I don't feel like I had surgery either LOL I'm off work until Tuesday the 25th but I really believe I could already be back I am a nurse in a busy Operating Room in a trauma hospital so the trick is gonna be not lifting anything. DEFINITELY doable though because I plan on just asking all the residents and med students around to do any lifting for me for a few weeks. My only real worry was that I work 12 hr shifts so we will see how that goes. Fortunately during long surgeries I get to sit a lot
  12. loved this article, thanks for sharing!!! lots of good info for us who are new to being sleeved. I'm only 6 days out and wondering what the future holds. LOL I had THOUGHT I had a pretty good idea what to expect before I had the surgery but now I think I really couldn't have understood what this would be like until I'd done it.. for me at least.. for example I can't believe I'm not hungry, like not at all. It's weird but it sounds like once the swelling goes down and I'm healed up that physical hunger will come back to some degree. Thanks for sharing this!!!!
  13. it WAS fun!!!! who woulda thunk it?! hahahaha great meeting you guys too! so glad I've got some sleeve sisters to compare notes with! oh and I would LOVE a reunion!
  14. that's EXACTLY how I felt when I was trying to decide where to go and whether I even wanted to go to Mexico LOL that's why I decided I was gonna take lots of pics and figured maybe it would help someone else to feel more comfortable about whatever decision they make. I am feeling great today... no pain since Friday night except some soreness when I roll around in my sleep (from the incision sites). Tolerating Clear liquids and just tried sipping a little bit of watered down Protein shake and so far so good. I am completely baffled that I don't feel hungry. It's weird! LOL I feel very full after just a couple ounces of liquid too so I am having to keep Water and other liquids with me to sip all the time but that's no big deal. My doctor told me that it would be a little tougher right now anyway because there's of course some swelling to the stomach tissue still..
  15. oh thanks guys SOOOOOOOOO much for this input!!! we all know that Protein is HUGE for healing and energy as well as basic body function so I was pretty surprised that I wasn't encouraged to try it until 10 days out!! then again, every doctor is SO different. I just made a very thinned out vanilla nectar shake with Water and it is SO wonderful LOL I'm going SUPER slow with it. I've noticed that if I have even one sip too many my mouth starts watering uncontrollably.. so far that's my only cue that I'm "full". I've been making sure I don't take in more than like 2 ounces in 20-30 minutes just to be safe especially since I'm only day 5 post op.. Again, thanks for the feedback!!! I'm grateful to add in protein to all the broth and water and juice I've been sipping!
  16. I had my surgery on Friday September 14th in Mexico.. came home with a post op diet that doesn't mention protein much LOL anyway I've noticed that post op diets vary incredibly from one surgeon to the next and I'm wondering if any of y'all were allowed full liquids (protein shakes) in the first week after surgery? I'm still doing clear liquids as suggested on MY doctor's paperwork.. thanks!
  17. hi everyone!!! I just got home from being sleeved on Friday September 14th by dr. Ponce de leon in TJ. I had a great time with my mom there and am doing great!!! here's the link to my shutterfly site I made just for this adventure.. there's lots of pics of our trip and the hospital!! http://wlsherewego.shutterfly.com/pictures
  18. I'm SOOOO glad that is behind me!! LOL anesthesia gets me every time doing great today though!
  19. I just got sleeved on Friday 14th by Dr Ponce de Leon! I am sitting in my hospital room at INT waiting to go get my leak test and then I'm getting discharged! yay!!! I have had a GREAT experience and definitely recommend Dr Ponce and his coordinator Trish! I was VERY nauseated the first night but that is typical for me from anesthesia.. the other ladies here were totally fine and came to check on me LOL the nurses are AWESOME! they are so encouraging and were here around the clock with whatever meds I needed. I only needed pain meds the first night and haven't had any since! Anyway I'd be happy to answer questions, will be home on Monday and have a bunch of pics I'm going to share of my experience
  20. oops that should say 2 dollars.. stupid autocorrect lol
