I Need To Leave This Forum Until I'm Post Op
If you have to.. Do it! I let it freak me out too haha i was crying my eyes out being wheeled into surgery (1 month ago next week!) and I had every scenario bouncing around in my head... I woke up and I was fine! There are definitely a few horror stories but most aren't! Be prepared, but in all honesty I wouldn't sweat it easy for me to say now, but I wish I wouldn't have been so upset before..

I Want My Stomach And My Money Back! (J/k)
I'm in week 3 and also haven't lost anything jn a while, I'm 18 lbs down and it hasn't moved in soooo long but I think it could be because my body is learning to react to this new lifestyle so I'm going to wait it out (what else can I do??) good luck! I hope we all get jump started back on that loss!

Theresa's Story...scared But Desperate...
I live in louisiana and I was self-pay as well (thanks BCBS of Louisiana!) ha! I literally had my first appointment on Aug 22, and had surgery on 9/4- I didn't waste any time... Sometimes I wish I had thought more, but I'm fine now I went back to work after one week and have All of my strength... Every person is different though, I had an excellent surgeon and he was cheaper than most I am very happy with my decision, the only hard part for me is realizing what I can't eat-- sometimes too late haha it's okay though, I'm learning and will continue to do so! I am on my 3rd week (as of Tuesday) and I'm on vaca in Miami... I took a 3 hour nature tour earlier and I'm fine. I think you'd be okay to have a good time on your trips. But that's just me I guess, there are risks of complications, but there are also huge risks with diabetes- I think you'll have to pick the lesser of two evils there :/ good luck to you!! I'm from outside of Baton Rouge, if you need anything let me know

Can Anyone Tell Me.......

Time In Surgery?
For my surgery he was allowed in once I woke up

Same Day
It was just fine for me, personally I prefer to heal at home- hospitals freak me out! My dr was about 2 hours away so he asked that I stay at a hotel near him for 2 nights just in case something went wrong-- which I did and it was fine. I love my dr and would use him a million times over. He saved me SO much money by doing that. My surgery was $9800 total and that was all appts included- he even came and checked on me at the hotel

Same Day
By same day you mean left that day? I was at a surgery center for 5 hours total and left that day...

Fever 9 Days Post Op
My dr said a low fever may happen (I ended up having one a few days out) but anything over 100 to call him. Just FYI

Sleeping On Stomach Or Side
Might depend on the type of sutures your dr uses, my incisions aren't open so I think that makes it easier
-
Sleeping On Stomach Or Side
I've been sleeping on my side and tummy since day 4.... No issues at all

Cramps?
Yep all yogurts and puddings are fine, pretty much anything cold is okay, I may try to purée some chicken based soups-- thanks for the idea
-
Cramps?
I'm on week 2 and "creamy" liquids.... Problem is I can't seem to tolerate any sort of creamy soup..? Any other suggestions of something to eat at this point? I can take pudding no problem and even watery oatmeal (dr ok'd that) but no potato or broccoli or any type of cream soup- it makes my stomach cramp sooo bad, like I swallowed razors or something (sorry, I know thats harsh, but the pains suck!) my dr wants me on soft food next week and I just don't see it happening.... Any ideas?

Is There Spice After The Sleeve?
Unfortunately I cannot tolerate spicy food right now! I'm 9 days out and anything with spice makes my stomach hurt super bad, I cannot wait til it starts feeling better
