  1. I'm really not sure if they take Medicaid, I know woman's takes it but I'm not sure if the bariatric doctors do-- I don't see why not though. Definitely give them a call
  2. I know several people who have had it done at Woman's in Baton Rouge, have you thought about BR? I know Vacherie isn't right down the road but its not that far considering the care you would be getting- some of the top in the state are there.
  3. Just left his office I LOVE HIM
  4. I was self-pay with a wonderful surgeon just 2 hours from me in Louisiana. 9800$ total which included surgical center, 2 surgeons, all Pre and post op visits and anesthesia. Much more comfy to me than going to Mexico, but everyone is different I used a personal loan to pay for mine.
  5. So glad there's hope ill try lactaid milk and see what happens! Thanks everyone!!
  6. 3.5 months :/
  7. Okay so I'm definitely not lactose intolerant because I can have yogurt and ice cream, BUT milk makes me feel horrible.. What gives??? I was a huge milk lover Pre surgery and now I've tried it twice since surgery and can't stand it, nor can I stand almond or soy any ideas or suggestions?
  8. Your body doesn't feel hungry anymore post-op... No you won't be eating but in general you really won't care (aside from head hunger).
  9. I boohoo'd my way all the way into the OR... My mind was a crazy mess so I completely understand where you're coming from... I can't offer any advice to you other than I worried myself to death for nothing, I'm now 3 months out and couldn't be happier!
  10. Thanks ma'am! I do use it but haven't been tracking meals like I should, I will send you my username and maybe you can help hold me accountable I've been logging my weight and that's it lately (I know, I know!) add me and I will start logging tonight!
  11. Just take it slow and steady! Don't stress just try your best and you'll get there
  12. I would say its a possibility.... No way to know unless you ask your surgeon.
  13. Sometimes it's to clean out your system also, my dr didn't have me do a diet at all BUT he did make me clear my system for like 2 days before surgery, i would take the liquid diet ANY day... (Surgery weight = 240)
  14. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com It's a blog with lots of WLS recipes and advice
  15. My fiancé keeps commenting on how my bellybutton changed (he's weird okay??) but he's right! I think it's because my dr went through my BB for something (I only have 5 incisions). I guess I'm just wondering if I'm the only one whose BB changed? Or am I crazy? Haha
  16. In that case... In general, most people are able to do that, but everyone is different on what they can and can't tolerate so I just want you to understand that there is a possibility that even though you love a certain pizza or anything for that matter right now you might be giving it up depending on your tummy (and you may only be giving it up for a little while because sometimes they change their mind over time). You will most likely be fine though
  17. I think you're missing my point but I also think that until you experience this for yourself none of us can tell you how YOUR body will react to things. I'm 3 months out and a chicken tender (one of my most favorite things before surgery) will make me sick after one bite. What makes me sick may not make you sick etc etc. so no, I don't think it's possible for any of us to tell you if you will ever be able to have a burger again- anything greasy makes me instantly ill- so I'm pretty sure i'll stick to my fish and veggies. This isn't some random diet and it shouldn't be taken as such, your tummy will be gone and won't be able to be gotten back so yes, there is a possibility your "favorite" foods will be out of the question afterwards. Carbonated drinks taste disgusting to me now, I tried a sip, just to see, and I still can't drink them even though I'd kill for a diet coke right about now.... You just never know.
  18. Thanks so much everyone, I really can't express how amazing it feels to be able to look in the mirror and see less of myself! I still can't believe my new wedding dress is half the size of one I ordered just a few short months ago! This is so surreal! And amw, you are so right...I am WAY happier with myself these days!
  19. Honestly I didn't really try protein that early, my doctor ordered broths and strained Soups at that point just so I Could get something down... Protein came the next week. If its not agreeing maybe try a different type?also there is an unflavored protein that I use by Isopure that you can mix into your soups and broths. I remember feeling terrible on days 3 and 4 even though I had a great recovery it does absolutely get better but I know you're not seeing much past your pain and discomfort right now. Days 5 6 and 7 I woke up feeling remarkably better even going back to work on day 7. Good luck and I hope some of what I've said helps I'm rooting for ya!
