Mastiff_mama got a reaction from docbree in feeling hope slipping away
I can't imagine how you feel or how your depression effects you....I can tell you there are people here who will listen, offer advice and comfort you. May if us have suffered from depression to some degree or another. It's not easy being fat! Some of us are fat for horrific reasons! Probably a lot more than you could imagine! As a high school teacher I'd find myself talking a lot to my chunkier students trying ti get them ti understand why they over eat to avoid a lifetime of being fat. You would be SHOCKED how many confessed abuse and mostly sexual! I wouldn't be surprised if half or more on this forum have experienced this! I was. ..for years! I've been to therapy but never lost my protection! It freaks me out! My abuser is still a big part if my family and has been ever since over 30 years ago! I am only telling this because its a issue with us fatties!

But it felt like it! lunch today on preop was a huge bowl of ice cream! How? 10 oz of unsweetened almond milk, heaping scoop of ENS-Celebrate chocolate powder (ens has the Multivitamin and Calcium in it), a small splash of real vanilla, tiny bit of orange zest and 1 teas of Sobee SF chocolate Syrup. I put it in my oster counter top ice cream maker! It was sooo good! Remember I am on preop and not post! I assume it would be too cold for postoperative

Mastiff_mama reacted to FatMamaw in So mad at myself!
If you are on the Protein shake/ low carb low fat diet... Your body will go into ketosis after a few days and you burn fat at a very high rate. If you have to eat, make sure you eat protein
Like meat. Don't eat carbs,it will knock you right out.

Me too Betty! I started this process in April! It's a long one and gives you plenty of time to back out! I would be over the moon to lose 100lbs! I've been over weight since my teens!

Here's my solution....Isolate unflavored, Better Than Bullion...heat the broth and add powder. Let sit for about 10 mins for flavors to meld...reheat if necessary

I think it's probably a lot harder on the younger ones. I've has several surgeries and sort if know what ti expect (surgery wise) ....if this is your first experience with being put to sleep, recovery, etc it's scary! The waking up part is just tough. It takes 3 days to start feeling normal! I hate surgery, but it's such a small part if what wonderful things await us!

I'm a new grandma too! She's 4 months old and already too fat. I am on her mama all the time! She's one of those difficult babies and they stick a bottle in her mouth to stop the crying! I've tried to explain you're teaching her that food soothes her emotions! We've been spoon feeding her Cereal so she eats slower and stay full longer.

I honestly didnt think I would commit to the sleeve. It's not in my personality to do something so permanent. Somehow it changed as my boys started to grow up and I was on the sidelines. They are 2 and 3 and already I was missing too much. I've dieted my entire life, it was time to finally do something that was permanent and that would last. It was scary, I was terrified but I went through with it. It's been one of the best things I've done for myself.
My surgery was Monday and I feel great. There was some pain but as of today I am 95% back to normal. Even in the peak of my surgery pain, I never had a regret. I wish I never hesitated and went full force.

I thought about it for four years and came up with every possible excuse and delay that you can think of. I am 35 years old and have a 5 yr old and a 2 yr old. I made the decision that I wanted not only to watch the grow up but to be able to do things with them. I got sleeved on 1/3/13 And have lost 50 lbs so far. I still have a long way to go but already have more energy. It was a tough decision to make but I can tell you it was the best thing I ever did. The pain and the change in lifestyle is well worth it in my opinion if it means I am going to be there for my family.

I wanted to update everyone again. Surgery was on Monday, I went home Wednesday and today I feel 95% back to normal. The sleeve is amazing.
I have no issues with fluids or Protein Drinks, my taste didn't change. I can eat about 3 oz of yogurt, pudding, Jello and it's equal to 3 trips to a buffet, stuffed. ( these are on my full liquid diet).
The only pain is from my larger incision and that is almost gone. I've been able to walk 1/2-1 mile since Thursday.
I was so scared after reading a lot of stories on this site and there is nothing to worry about. Have faith, and follow Dr orders and you will do great.

I'm pretty proud of myself. I have fought the demons of candy, Cookies, and hamburgers. I have stuck to my diet. I feel that my relationship with food has begun to change. I eat to live not live to eat.

I am 50 too, but look at it this way: while all the skinny menopausal ladies are becoming unpleasantly surprised by their new little bellies, we are see our big ones go away. At a little over 5 wks out I've lost 16 lbs and feel so great! Like Orthoman said, if I'd lost this much this fast at any other point in my life it would have been a miracle.
