Started my liquid diet yesterday and it was much easier than I thought it would be! I will try to keep the positive attitude throughout the 10 days. So happy that the scale will now be moving in a downward direction....

@LBM - You are right about not having enough Protein and adding cheese and egg. But I also selected shrimp and crabmeat. For me I make sure to get at least 35gm of protein (with shake) during Breakfast. Then between two Snacks and dinner I'm getting in at least 25gms. so it doesn't hurt to have spinach salad for lunch you will at least get in 10gm. like I said if you add shrimp/chicken/tuna etc and eggs. what works for me is getting that protein in my shake in the morning. The rest I do through regular meals.

This is totally off subject but have you ever thought about writing? As a career? You have a way of reaching your reader that very few writers possess. As I read your posts I'm literally enthralled with the story. It is akin to watching a suspenseful movie and sitting on the edge of your seat in anticipation. I do hope you continue to keep us updated on your health and appreciate such an eye-opening account of what can go wrong.

They took an x-ray to check if any leak.
They gave me some medicine to drink during the x-ray that was the worst so far.
    I felt nauseous and pain.
But things went fine afterwards. They are keeping me in the hospital.
    Tomorrow will start drinking.

I do know how to sew too....but I do not have the time nor the machine that will handle very thick materials...I bought a cheapo machine while waiting for the arrival of my daughter and I did sew most of her birth clothes but since she came home almost 6 years ago I do not even have the time to think let alone sew...plus working in Real Estate on top of that and owning my own Scrapbooking embellishment company keeps me way too busy to even start a project. On the good end of things my husband is getting a littlle inheritance from his grandmother and he is giving me some of the money to go shopping for clothes.

I bought this really cute dress in a size 10 last week. Been eyeing it since it came to that store but a). Didn't feel the desire to spend $120 on it and . Didn't want to buy my current size (18-20..I'm pre op) if I wasn't going to stay this size longer. Well summer is almost over and they put this dress on clearance for$20!! They only has size 18 and size 10 left..so I scooped up the 10 I have been buying more clothes in mediums and large instead of 2xl. Also gives me motivation to fit it them :-)

I just wanted to let you know that I know a lot of you are worried about pain after surgery. And I am here to testify that not EVERYONE has pain. Whether it be gas pains or incision pains some people do not have any problems what so ever. Everyone is different so don't base your nerves on what youve read from someone else's experience. I came out of surgery and never once had gas, nausea, or any sort of pain. I am 3 wks post now and I do have an occasional muscle ache in my abdomen but this is the first an only time ive had any discomfort. So cheer up!! You're gonna be great!! You are taking the first step into your new lives. GO GET U SOME SKINNY!!

I told my sushi waiter I was on a low carb diet and requested the mixed crab filling from my favorite roll and they served it to me in a bowl with a bit of spicy tuna on top. It was awesome and one serving was 3-4 meals. I've been twice this week but need to watch the salt intake from the soy sauce.

addiction transference happens. It does. However, it really depends on whether or not people deal with their addiction or if they just go through the motions of the surgery.

Oh, and they didn't need the machine, just the mask.
As a funny little aside, I forgot the cap to the mask because I had washed it in the morning and left it on the sink to dry. I couldn't believe my stupidity! I asked a friend (who had just left me 45 minutes before) if she would get it for me. I told her I thought I left it on the sink. She agreed and drove the 40 minutes (in torrential rain) back to the hospital.
I was relieved and oh so grateful because I was already so anxious post surgery. Well, she took out the cap and to my complete horror it was a bottle cap from a water bottle she held out to me (obviously she's not a Water bottle drinker). At first I thought she was kidding, but when I saw the look on her face I knew she wasn't. This wonderful friend went back to the house (in torrential rain again) She found the cap under a washcloth I had thrown on top of it and brought it back to me (in torrential rain again!) What a nightmare, though we laugh about it now!

One could also argue the reason that these studies seem to center around gastric bypass patients is because gastric bypass has been around for years and in terms of studies regarding any weight loss surgery, most of the studies are on gastric bypass. The sleeve is a relatively new surgery in comparison, we still don't even have many studies available to us on the long-term effects of the gastric sleeve.
Personally, I know alcohol has a much greater effect on me now than it did before my surgery. I also believe that based on initial recent findings, it is wise of surgeons and nutritionists to advise their patients of the possible risks regarding alcohol to any and all bariatric patients, regardless of surgery type. I wouldn't use the excuse of a lack of published studies specifically on gastric sleeve patients as a pass to go ahead and drink too much alcohol.
Everything in moderation, my friends, everything in moderation. Be aware of what you put in your body and how your body responds. Over-indulgence is never a good practice.

I don't think it is nonsense. I think the reason why any data has come out is based on the fact that the lapband and gastric bypass have been around longer. There is very little data about the long term affects of the sleeve since it is still very new as a means of WLS. Hence why most of the articles are revering to the gastric bypass. However, it is an interesting correlation since many on this site alone have expressed a new found addiction to shopping. And there have been studies about people going from alcoholism to other things, so the argument can be reasonably made to suggest why not WLS too. We have addictions to food, why can there be no transference.
All and all, I agree with IrishEyes that they were merely trying to share information with fellow Sleevers and give food for thought (pardon the pun). I know that it will keep me on guard once I get sleeved since alcoholism does run in my family. So I, for one, say thank you.

You know what they say: Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones that don't.
I can't say that I understand others need to be "catty" but I see it all the time myself. It amazes me that people cannot just be happy for each other.
I say CONGRATULATIONS to all of us because we found our "way out." Let us leave the nay-sayers to themselves and enjoy our new found freedom!!!

The kindest comments I have received were from the maintenance and janitorial staff. Just yesterday one dear lady said, "You have lost so much weight. You are simply beautiful. Good job!" I could have kissed her.
Other, more gentile coworkers are uncomfortable with it and won't mention it.
Take the nice comments to heart and consider that the petty comments are from petty people and let it go.

I am a teacher - and they can be the best support group in the world - and the most critical! I told my team I was having the surgery this summer - and they are 100% supportive. There are also others who were not so supportive - calling it a crutch, easy way out, etc.... We had an aid that lost 100 pounds over 2 years, they all got together and gave her a $100 gift certificate for new clothes....I have a feeling that won't be the case for me
I just remind myself that I did it for me and my family - not anyone else
