I'm so excited and had to share. I have been in a stall for about 2 weeks now...been teetering over 200 and going INSANE to the point where I was questioning whether the surgery happened and/or if I was the ONE person it wasn't working for....
Well, this morning, I hopped on the scale and I was 199.2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't been below 200 in over at least 15 years! I actually did a Julie Andrews spin around my apartment (Referring to "the hills are a live...with the sound of music").

I thought that Christmas was going to be a challenge for me because i went to Grandma's house. EVERYONE should have a grandma like mine, unless of course they have issues with their weight... LOL! I had a great time, though! Before I left last Friday, I went to the clinic just to be weighed. The lady at the counter thought I was nuts for asking to use their scale, though. haha! I don't trust my scale, so it was worth the trip and skeptical look! I had lost 93 pounds since 9/9/12 at the start of my pre-op diet. 43 of those pounds were since my surgery on 10/1/12. I got home last night and before showering this morning I hopped onto my home scale. Even though I don't 100% trust it (I should really go get me a new one...) the scale reflected a lower number than when I left! Unfortunately, I don't have another clinic visit for about 2.5 weeks. I am going to have to just suck it up and deal with waiting! Hopefully I will have lost 100 lbs by the time I go!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! We have so totally got this!

I am so glad you acknowledge God to be your source of help through this. Your relationship to Him is your strength. He has been mine through cancer, surgery, and many a conflict.
I will tell you something now that I seldom talk about. I am so not proud of this. I left my wife for a 5 year period many years ago. It wasn't over her weight, the young woman I had during this period was heavier than her. I left her because I wanted to be bad, I was mad at God because I thought He was not backing me up in the battles that I was having pastoring churches. I blamed God for letting unruly church people rip me up and wanted to get back at Him.
My dear wife was devastated but kept her faith. All during this time my heart ached. I could never find complete happiness, never get drunk enough, wild enough, never eat my way out of feeling bad for my wife and daughter. I drew up divorce papers with a lawyer and gave them to her. She signed them but I never turned them in. I loved my girlfriend but not enough to overpower my conscience. When my daughter became pregnant it was my wake up call. I left my girlfriend and asked God to forgive me. He was right there with open arms. I am in tears right now thinking about it.
My wife took me back very soon after she realized that I was sincere. We rebuilt our lives and our marriage became stronger than it was before. My daughter had a beautiful girl who has been a great joy to me and everyone she meets, a special girl who loves God and has a heavy calling on her life. My wife and I went through WLS together and are enjoying our new slimness in Florida, serving God with my daughter and her daughters.
Kentucky Girl, I've shared this with you to encourage you to not lose hope. I put my wife through hell. Her heart broke a hundred times while I tried to harden mine. God never let loose of the vision He had for our marriage. She never lost her faith and down deep I never lost mine as hard as I tried to.
Please don't let your circumstance keep you from eating and taking care of yourself. Take care of the body God has given you and nourish the new body He has in store for you. Take care of yourself as a service to Him, let Him bless you. Remember, He loves you more than your husband ever did or ever could.
My wife and I will take you to prayer every day. Stay in the Word, my dear sister. You'll get through this dark time.

I think it is fine if it is one cup a day or something like that. And I, too, use my Protein Powder as my "creamer" now. I LOVE half and half and would never "adulterate" my coffee with any type of milk or fat free "half and half" or whatever and I find that the Protein powder gives it enough "creaminess" to substitute for my half and half. But if I wasn't having the protein powder for Breakfast I would use a little half and half in my coffee.

I use Protein when I drink my coffee. I make sure the coffee is under 140 degrees, I like to use chocolate or vanilla protein (usually only one scoop) and sometimes I use the Torani sf syrups. I love raspberry and hazelnut. I even use those syrups in my protein mixed with Water and it tastes like iced coffee

I don't know if I am just having dumb luck or what, but I lost 50 pounds pre-op and have lost almost another 40 since (10/1/12)! I don't feel like I am ever doing it right, but I seem to be putting some numbers up there! I go to the NUT tomorrow for an official weigh-in! Granted, I started out with a lot more than some people here, but I just feel so good about what I have seen so far!!

I am 6 weeks post op and I have a Protein Shake every morning to give me 30 grams of Protein. Mid-morning, a Greek yogurt with fruit (Chobani). Ill drink a 32 oz water bottle with Crystal lite and 10 grams if unflavored Protein Powder between meals. lunch is about 2 tbls. mashed potato w/shredded turkey or chicken, soft cooked veggie-total about 1/4 cup food. I can eat one large egg with laughing cow lite cheese added-without the soft cheese, I can only eat 3/4 of the egg. Although I no longer have restrictions (except to avoid bread!), I am taking it slow trying foods out slowly and staying with soft textures. For dinner tonight my family had pizza and my husband brought me back meatballs. I ate about 1/2 of one- I used to eat a slice or two of pizza plus 1/2 a meatball hero. What a difference a sleeve makes!

Almost the entire day went by before I realized that my surgery was one year ago today!! It's actually nice not to constantly be thinking about my weight and food all the time. I'm just enjoying my life sooooo much I don't have time to think about that stuff anymore!!! And I can honestly say, this has been the BEST year in my 43 years on the planet!!! it hasn't always been easy, but "The hard is what makes it great"!!!
I have fulfilled a 5 year dream to become a triathlete!! I did 3 triathlons this past summer and am planning on doing 5-6 next year. My goal now is to begin to do longer races and eventually do an Ironman (2.5 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, ending with a marathon). It sounds crazy, I know.....but I just having a burning desire to see what my body can do!!
I still have about 40 pounds to lose and I imagine it's going to take me some time to lose it as I'm consistently losing about 2-4 pounds per month (which I'm totally ok with). I can pretty much eat anything at this point....but the amount depends on the food. meat and raw fruits and veggies still fill me up super fast with just a few bites. My relationship with food has completely changed....I now eat to live instead of living to eat!!!
I absolutely LOVE my sleeve and i 100% recommend this journey to those who are still on the fence about it. I've heard a lot of people say that they don't want to "take the easy way out"...in fact, I was one of those people for many years. I always thought I should be able to "do it on my own". Well, I didn't because I couldn't. I needed help. And this journey has been anything BUT easy!! It's the hardest thing I've ever done, but it's also the best thing I've ever done!!!!
So, here are some pics. The first one was taken 3 months before my surgery. There is also one of me with both of my legs in my BIG GIRL pants (which I used to fill out completely!!!).

All the responses are appreciated. Logic tells me to be patient, but my desperate heart who has wanted for so long to conquer this weight problem is just so excited I get frustrated when I don't see results. I know it's fear. Fear if failing AGAIN in losing weight and keeping it off. It's amazing how many negative and deep seeded emotions come up during this journey. Thanks for all your encouragement and words of wisdom.

suejersey reacted to nomorfat in Sleeved 9 Weeks Ago And So Far Lost 29 Lbs.
I've waited 2 years for this surgery. Had a lap band about 5 years ago and developed the usual problems with it that many did from keeping the band too tight, and so the pouch over-expanded and caused painful reflux. The Dr. had to remove all the Fluid from the band, so there was no limitation on how much I ate, and I gained the weight back again. My ins. co. wouldn't pay for a re-do on a lap band, so I had to wait till I was 65 and Medicare kicked in and till it approved the sleeve, which it finally did in July (YAY !). So, 2 months before my 66th birthday, I got sleeved! So far I'm ecstatic! Some bumps in the road for me:
1.Seems I have some temporary lactose intolerability. No problem. I just take Lactaid when I drink or eat anything with dairy in it, including cheese. I think this will pass. If it doesn't, I still have the Lactaid. 2. I need to learn to stop eating before I feel full. Had the same problem with the lap band. If I eat till I feel full, it's already too late. That food will mix with gastric juices and expand more, after I've stopped eating, and then I end up losing some of it, if you catch my drift. Other than that, and making sure to drink my Protein Shake @ least once a day, preferably 2X a day, and I haven't lost any hair!

You are going to amazed how quickly the amount of exercise that you can increases as long as you keep with it. It's all about training the body to do things that's it's capable of doing but has forgotten how to do. That muscle memory will kick in and you're going to go faster and farther than you ever thought you could. Just keep sticking with it. Sounds to me like you are doing a great job. Keep with it!
