Stupid Question Alert! Why Remove 80% Of Stomach, Why Not 65%
Think of it this way ... holidays come around you'll be able to get up from table full, feeling satisfied and not "stuffed to the gills". Everybody feeling miserable and you feel well PROUD. You accomplished what you wanted to. I know this holiday season will be a challenge for me b/c I could easily eat 2 plates of food and still have room for auntie's freshly baked goodies. What motivates me is knowing that by these holidays I WILL be in "onederland" and that is more satisfying than that piece of freshly baked goodies. I asked my dr the same questions about % of stomach removed. I wanted to know if there was a difference between bypass pouch & sleeve pouch. Not much except the separation from the stomach to make the pouch bring lower intestines up wrap around new pouch ect ect ... well after hearing all that I asked why leave all the stomach in there to do nothing but "hang around"? After he stopped laughing he really couldn't come up with an answer. The sleeve is vertical. Bypass is circular. I reckon if you roll up the sleeve you'd get the bypass pouch. Personally, I had no problem choosing to be sleeved b/c I just didn't want all that stomach "hanging around" inside of me. The % left he said will increase but it will be up to me just how much of an increase it'll be. Give yourself time ... and patience. It'll all work out for. Just think of the end result - A NEW YOU CoolBreeze

Cheez it has more fat in them than my dr would want me to have. It does have protein but its negated by the fat/carb #'s. I would not eat them, but do check with your dr.

How Many Nights Did U Stay At Hospital?
I stayed 3 nights, I had some trouble keeping fluids in so I was there the max my insurance allowed. My friend told me his sister went in on a Mon. and was out Tuesday evening. So it will depend on how you are after surgery. But you do have to hold in your liquids before they will release you.

Can You Believe This? Another Reason I Can't Wait For The Sleeve!
You said what a lot of us (I'm sure) were really thinking ... of saying but did not. Personally not offended. The sad thing is you're probable not the first, and unfortunately, may not be the last.

Can You Believe This? Another Reason I Can't Wait For The Sleeve!
I had a similar experience once on a plane and I wanted to toss her out the plane .. at 33k feet. Ok, I digrest. But, she ask me if I need an extention (which at the time I didn't know it was to extend the belt. I was mad, hurt to say the least. I did not want to take it but I would have cut off my own circulation so I did - reluctantly. Yet one more inspiration for me to have been sleeved. Can't wait for my next plane ride!

Oh yeah, Dr. Brebbia also said to wait about 3-4 months. Now that I'll do.

Beer
I asked my dr. the same question and he told me beer has no nutritional value so if you're going to have one at least make for something rewarding. As in, as he told me, you lose 10lbs by our next visit and you may have one...just one, to reward yourself. He also suggested (strongly I might add) that the beer be non-alcholic - if at least make it lite. So I would say if you are gonna drink a beer, make it count...as a reward. I am half to that 10lb reward he talked about...I see him on the 27th of Aug. Heineken here I come! I hope this helps with your decision. BTW, my dr also told me not to make it a habit. lol He knows I love my Heineken

Getting A Resistance Band..set
I am planning to buy a resistance band for exercise. I am trying new things and with back problems it seems better for me to use the band instead of weights. You can use it so many ways to exercise. Do y'all think that's a good idea. I need something other than walking.

New Here
Congrats on being sleeved. When you walk it will get better. It will get better.

New To This Site......
hi Christi. we all at some point new this was the last or only option left for us (at least for me it was). when i made the decision to get sleeved, i didn't want to hear negative chitter chatter so i told only a hand full of people what was going on and why. a decision i do not regret. it was hard, scary, and nerve racking but i wanted it, i needed it and i knew this was for me. thats not to say it was an easy decision...it was not. i took a year to make this move, and i have not looked back. i have friends who have had gastric bypass and one of my first thoughts was why would i want to leave all that stomach inside after the pouch is made. answer: i did not. when i learned of the sleeve i knew it was the right choice for me. now my friends supports me but none of them quite understand because the sleeve is relatively new - especially considering when they all had their surgeries. you are in the right place, i found this site just a short while and i am glad i did and you will be too. hang in there, be strong, you can do it. welcome aboard

The Scale Ugh!
taylor - it just takes time, you'll do it. i thought i would have lost more than i have but when i look at where i was just 2 mos. ago, i'm happy -- i've lost 37lbs since havin surgery june 26. i've tried to lose that the last 2yrs. and to no avail. so be patient, do what your drs say and the weight will come off.

Has Anyone Noticed A Change In Their Sleep Patterns?
i dont know if it had anything to do with it, i have/had sleep apnea and after surgery i still fall asleep rather quickly but i don't have nite sweats like i use to. nor do i get every darn hour to go pee. i can't sleep on my left side (favorite one too). i wake-up feeling more relaxed and alert than i ever did pre surgery.
