  1. Congratulations, you look fantastic!
  2. I've been stalled at 194 for the past 3 weeks. I know it's crazy but I'm starting to think that this is as far as I will go (I was sleeved 9/5/12). So to add to the craziness, I decided to buy some clothes. Granted 3 of the items were on clearance but two tops were full price. Have I given up? Am I crazy? Am I really stuck at this size (which granted is smaller than I've been in 30 years)? It's a week later, my stall broke and I'm down 2 lbs. My secret desire is to buy a slinky, bejeweled evening gown and go out with my husband for our 10th anniversary in May. So just for fun I went to Dillards this afternoon and tried some on (I wear size 14 now). I tried on several short dresses that also looked good. But the real surprise was the floor length, purple, bejeweled evening gown, halter top and low scooped back. It fit and it looked WOW. I couldn't believe it. Of course I didn't buy it because I have no idea what size I'll be by May, but that was fun! I wish I could have taken a picture to post on here. I just had to share this here.

  4. Stalls are normal and they happen, don't worry, try to eat what you can, as much protein as you can and keep drinking liquids. It will pass when your body figures out that you're not starving. Good luck!
  5. I think we're sleeve sisters, I love the elliptical and the lap pool. I jog around the laps in the pool when there is no one else there. I find it very hard to eat more than a couple of bites in the morning but by the evening I can usually handle more food. Unlike you, I've had some issues with vomiting although that is getting more rare now too - maybe I'm learning finally! Thanks for sharing, it's nice to know we're all in this together.
  6. It's the end of December, on Jan 5th I will be sleeved for 4 months. I still have a hard time believing the weight will stay off in the long run - although I have to admit that I never lost this much weight on my own and I haven't looked like this since right after High School. I catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror or window reflection and I do a double take. I'm wearing size 14 pants and large shirts which I haven't worn since I was 21. This is an amazing journey. Some days are harder than others. I get frustrated at being full after a few bites, especially when something tastes good. I usually end up eating too much and paying for it by feeling sick and nauseated for a while afterwards. I need to learn to be happy with the small bites I can eat and not push it. Of course there is loose skin everywhere, but I'd rather it be loose than full of fat. I want to start seriously working out and seeing just what I can do now with my new body. I would love to get toned as well as thin, that would be a first for me. I'm so glad I had this done. I am hopeful for my future and excited to see what I can do now.
  7. I was sleeved in Sept. At first I was just sipping and even that felt strange. I can now take a mouthful of water and swallow without pain but I don't try to guzzle anything. Just take it slow, it gets better but not back to the same as it used to be. Be ready to drink the water over time - while you are working out this summer - not in one gulp afterwards. Be sure to keep drinking, it's very important.

I'm so sorry for the additional complications that you have to deal with. It sounds like you could really use a support system. Does your doc or anyone in your area offer something like that? In my area there is a group of sleevers and By pass patients that meet every month and we also have a facebook page, I hope there is something similar in your area. This forum is extremely supportive too. Good luck!
  10. Congratulations! I was sleeved on Sept 5th, just 4 days before my 52nd birthday. I have noticed collar bones (who knew I had those?) and skinny wrists and fingers (my wedding ring almost falls off now). Even my toes look skinny. I've got a lot of excess skin and fat still on my torso, but even that is going down. Cheers to the best birthday of our lives and the beginning of our new lives!
  11. Congratulations on making this decision. I have diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholestrol (and low thyroid) all of which I've been medicated for over the past 15 years. It's time to get it all under control and this surgery can help. This is a great forum and you'll find support and caring people here. Welcome!

I started out slow (with the protein shakes etc not wanting to go down well) but I feel better every day and I've finally gotten all of my protein in today (5 days Post Op). I went to the mall with my daughter this afternoon as a way to walk around. That was fun. It doesn't hurt to walk or move, but I'm still using some pain meds daily in order to keep the liquid intake up.

I have the exact same experience with the swallowing. I feel every sip go all the way down my esophagus and I don't dare take more than a sip because then it hurts all the way down. I wonder how long this lasts! I don't feel empty inside but I do feel hungry. I even have stomach growls like when your stomach is empty. I can usually ignore them fairly well though.
  14. I had to go to the ER yesterday, for dehydration. Now I SIP water whether it hurts or not.
