  1. Well, the conception is that you can't DO anything about race and gender, so you have to accept people for what they are. Ditto with physical handicaps, birth defects, mental issues, etc. 35 years ago autistic kids were sent off to group homes, now they have parades for them! Society is just starting to accept that sexual orientation may just not be someone's choice, so yeah -- we are starting to accept gay people now too. But fatties? Sure it may be a genetic tendency but calories in < calories out. It's not rocket science. Get off the couch! Stop going to McD!! It's OK to bug us because we're doing it to ourselves.
  2. Next question, what's a DVT?
  3. Me too. In fact, I kept the very first one I ever asked for. After that I lost a bunch of weight myself and happy gave it back one flight. A marriage and 2 kids later, I again kept the first one I asked for since regaining all the weight. I can't wait to give this one back once and for all!

  5. Me too! Exactly the same schedule. I am trying to drink chicken broth when I want something salty, but stuff we've had in the freezer for ages is starting to look good. UGH.
  6. Mine was the same as a lot of people's. I had to take a computerized multiple choice test -- anyone with half a brain would know not to pick the answers that sound psychotic. Then we talked for about 45 min. It was clear that she was a dingbat from the getgo, and she kept apologizing for forgetting her train of thought. It was all right, though, with everyone she sees daily, there is no way any of my "personal" info made a dent in her brain.
  7. Hi, I went to the seminar last December - kinda by chance. My primary care doctor mentioned surgery, I cried and felt like a failure. But in between tears, I looked online and saw a seminar was at my local office in like 2 weeks. So I signed up online and went. To my surprise (i guess), I was "in" the program and that's that. My insurance co. requires 6 months of dietician. I did that. I lost the same 10 lbs about 3 times over this 6 months. I start my pre-op diet Wed and have surgery scheduled for 8/29. Back in Dec, the idea of possibly waiting til AUGUST was ridiculous, but now the time is here faster than I knew it.
  8. I start my two-week preop on Wednesday. I need to call the office because I am really not sure what I can have. It seemed like this day would never come so I didn't worry about it... but now I wish I paid more attention! I have lost the same 10 lbs over the last six months of nutrtion visits. *sigh* I hope the liquid diet goes well.
  9. How is sipping flat diet Coke like playing with a snake? This is just like if a pregnant woman eats a ham sandwich and she gets lectured on listeria and lunch meat.
  10. Not me, I ate better than you, followed more rules than you, worked out more than you, and you're a loser. Hahaha! Just kidding
  11. I pay triple for organic chicken at the store. It's painful at the checkout, but I dunno. I feel better giving it to my family.
  12. We have the same date. I'm Aug 29 as well.
  13. I did not and am glad after reading all these. What a pain in the butt.
  14. So what I'm hearing is to enjoy fried chicken now (my absolute favorite) now while I still can.
  15. Why don't you both contribute to a "gift budget" for the kids, and everyone gets equal from there. Anything extra you give to your son is from mom, you can give it to him later. A key to blended families (having come from a failed one) is on some level, acting as just a normal family -- not his half and her half.
  16. Who is your doctor at Cleve Clinic? I have Dr. Krohl on aug 29th! When did they bring you in for all the bloodwork and surgeon visit before surgery?
  17. [quote=Lisa ] I love the new life I'm living and ill be doing my first triathlon in 4 weeks!! How much weight did you lose before you could train for a triathlon? Until I lose weight I can 't even think about running. But my goal one day is to RUN a 5K.
  18. I am sorry to say that I still feel like a failure because I can't control my own portions, I have to resort to getting my stomach cut out. I'm not telling anyone except my husband. 2 friends know I'm "in the process" but they don't know I'm scheduled. At work, I'm going on vacation and working at home. People at work are cool, but we don't sing kumbaya together at breaktime.
