  1. I'm very happy for you, especially since you're young and you'll get to enjoy your band for a long time. I wish you the best!
  2. Probably gas, for real, that's where I get gas pains. Hope it's just gas.
  3. 1 scoop of egg salad and 1 scoop of tuna salad placed on top of soy chips, mmmmm. Then for desert, a scoop of frozen yogurt, some oj, frozen strawberries, blended in the magic bullet. My veg was the celery in the tuna salad. I think I shouldn't have gotten that unfill, now I'm open as a well.
  4. As long as it's not bubbly, not carbonated. You can even add Crystal lite if you want to. I use a dash of lemon and a pinch of swtnlow. Good luck on your new journey!
  5. That's what I did last year, only we stayed on property and it was not our Easter break here in VA, but I think every other city was on Easter break and everyone was at DW.
  6. I really think the high protein intake was the reason for my muscle gain, cause it sho enough wasn't from workn out. Prior to banding I ate little protein, now I'm a protein freak. In all my 55 years I never knew until one of the nutritionist meetings the protein helped boost the metab and helped you stay full longer. See the band came with good ideas.
  7. Very well said Debby. That's another thing I like about my band, no more diets, just healthier food choices.
  8. Jamie if I already told you this, excuse me, but you remind me of how I felt before my big day. The AM of surgery my mom asked if I was nervous, I said, not a bit, I was so psyched and READY. I'm truly happy your big day is getting closer and closer. What's going to be your last fatty food?
  9. I'm getting ready to take my grandson back to Disney, he'll be so excited Nana might even do the pool this year. You and your family look very happy.
  10. That has been the ongoing joke with my sons, everytime I mention the "bullet", they crack up, reminding me to be careful and not plug it into the 220 outlet, when I'm "USING" it. LOL.
  11. Bypass was never a consideration for me personally, I researched the band for a long time and it was definately a good decision for me for many reasons. No malabsorb. less invasive, less side effects. Good luck with your decision.
  12. I miss the faces too, even though I've never posted one because mine are too awful, lol. I also miss Becky, I really enjoyed all of her comments. I didn't realize Darcy was gone, booohooo, and of course Ryan, I miss them all. If anyone pm's Becky, please ask her to pm me. Thanks
  13. Great advice Zoe!
  14. My filler that sticks with me is chili or refried beans. I seem to have a difficult time with chicken and broiled/baked tuna. They seem to be too dry and don't settle very well. Stir fried chicken or nuggets do ok. I do really well with egg salad and omlets too. Good Luck!
  15. Whew, what a scare, like Betty's quote, there ARE angels among us.
  16. I guess I'm fortunate, I haven't had any problems taking any pills so far, although I only take a baby asprin and a synthroid and they're itty bitty.
  17. I was told to stop taking everything except prescrip 10 days prior to surgery. Hope you're better soon.
  18. Check out this webite, very creative and easy to prepare fixins. Be sure to check out the pineapple shake. http://www.kqed.org/w/jpfastfood/home.html
  19. It takes me a while to eat a Zone bar, 16g protein, and it's a lot of chewing. My son uses a bar by Detour and loves them. I think they taste like thick paper, like I'm chewing a phone book, LOL. I'll stick with my zone bars.
  20. Since I was my doctor's first LB surgery, I too had to go to the various classes with people having the gastro bypass. During certain parts that didn't pertain, they would say, except for, bla bla bla. But, they're working on that and my doctor is wonderful. He's making every effort to learn all the ins and outs of my surgery. I called his office Thursday because I couldn't keep any food down after a fill (7 days, thought it was swelling). He came in on Friday, his day off and said, that's the wonderful thing about this procedure, it's adjustable, we can fix the problem so easily. When I left there I had 1/2 lb of egg salad, then later I had 1/4 lb of tuna salad, it was sooo good. Oh yea, a specialist from Ky. came and assisted, I was happy to be #1.
  21. I have two grown sons, both of which were slobs and one still would be except his wife picks up after him every day and night. He never closed a drawer or a door, clothes would be falling out of every drawer, keep in mind all drawers on the dresser were open. Where ever he stepped out of his clothes is where they remained, until he ran out of clean clothes then he would finally gather and drop off in the laundry room. I learned to close the door to keep my sanity. The younger son is living with us until his house is finished, OMG, 1 more week, then I'll be able to get that room back to normal. I don't have the patience for it now that I use to I'll tell ya that!
  22. I have the blender, smoothie maker, and a hand held elec chopper/blender/mixer, all of which are in a cabinet in the garage. The magic bullet replaces all of the above. TrishS, your DH and I share the same Birthday.
  23. One more piece of advice, if you/we're gonna be bad we have to be bad with good choices, like a low carb choc candy bar, s/f ice cream or s/f candy. If we're gonna over eat, let it be Protein. Nix the starches. Like Donali said, this is not a diet, this is it folks, this has got to work, this is the last rodeo, and an expensive one for us self payers. We will make good choices, we will make good choices, we will!
  24. Trish it's just smaller, cuter, and easier clean up, just in my opinion. No buttons to clean, just a couple of drops of dish deterg, screw the top back on and stick it on the bullet for about 5 sec, then rinse. I threw in some ice, oj, couple of frozen strayberries, half a banana, yummm. You can also use fruit cocktail in a can, but if you get the "light", you may need to add some sweet and low or splenda. Keep the recipes coming.
  25. Everyone is different, which is why so many additional ideas and suggestions help. I've learned things on here my wonderful doctor probably wouldn't know how to advise on. Such a wealth of info here.
