Tips for Pre-Op Diet
Okay, this is what I did...worked great...I lost 14 lbs in two weeks... 3 or 4 slim fast (Optima) for the first three days...on the fourth day, I dropped one slim fast and replaced with one small green salad with ff dressing....I had sf Jello, diet drinks, decaf coffee and tea....and lots of water.....I was not hungry and lost the 14 lbs....good luck...hope all goes well for you....Remember, keep yourself well hydrated...that will help with the hunger....

Best Liquid Meal Replacement/Protein Shakes
I had to be on liquid diet two weeks pre-op and two weeks post-op...I drank slim fast (optima) it really does curb your appetite....I started out drinking 3 or 4 a day until day 3 and then I dropped a slim fast and replaced with a small green salad(this is allowed by my doctor)this is before the surgery...after the surgery, I didn't want anything to eat...I still drank the slim fast, just small amounts at a time...

Doctor Says its a no-go - Any solutions?
I also had a hiatel hernia...the doctor repaired it when she put the lapband on....she did a two for one...she didn't charge me for the hernia repair and neither did the surgery center...

Can the port move?
I bet you are fine....your port is below the incision..or at least mine is...you can place two fingers side by side under the incision and that is where my port is....I thought it was where the incision was, but it is below it...that is where the doctor gave me a shot and did the fill...so I am assuming that is the port...

Deciding I want the band & ???'s
Hello.... I was banded on 4/6/07...I have lost 32 lbs...I was not in the hospital overnight...I went to a surgery center here in my hometown...was taken back for surgery around 9:00 a.m. and was home by 11:30 a.m.... not able to return to work for a few days....I also had a hernia repaired...at the same time they did the lapband...so I figure that caused me some additional pain.... I was a self-pay...$15,000.00 ....was denied by insurance two years ago...

banded yesterday
Congrats to all those that are newly banded....You should all be feeling great in a few days...the gas will go away and then you will just be sore...BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE DOCTORS ORDERS.....DON'T EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING THAT YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO....TAKE IT EASY FOR THE FIRST FEW DAYS....YOU ARE IN THE HEALING STAGES AND IT IS IMPORTANT TO LET YOUR INSIDES HEAL....

Congrats on your banding...hope you are feeling better each and everyday....the liquid for two weeks is not that bad..just stay well hydrated....take little sips...don't gulp...that will help with not getting air in your stomach.... To add the ticker....type in tickerfactory.com in search...this will open a page with the tickers...click on first choice of graphical event...once that opens, click on the weight loss ticker and follow instructions...you can set up your ticker and then copy and paste the url code in your sig. box...you will need to go the user cp....then click on edit sig....paste your code in the box and you will be good to go...good luck....

Has anyone read Khaliah Ali's new book about being banded?
Chanda, I think the Kirsti Alley, had some type of surgery....She might of had gastric bypass....she sure lost her weight really fast...She may not have, but she sure did get the weight off fast...that is why I am thinking gastric bypass...

Has anyone read Khaliah Ali's new book about being banded?
I have not read the book, but I did see her on t.v. last night...she looks great....they said she had lost a lot of weight, but didn't go into detail....

Betty, I pray that your insurance will cover this...sounds like you have lots of health problems, so maybe they will agree to cover this...that would be great.... Don't beat yourself up over past mistakes...we have all been where you are....I have lost and gained and lost and gained...If I had a penny for every diet and every pound I have lost, it would have paid for my surgery.... Good luck to you...I hope all goes well...

New Guy
Aloha Dave, Congrats on your decision to have the lapband...and welcome to LBT... I am fifty-four years old, and this is the best thing I have ever done for myself...I was banded on 4/6/07 and had first fill on 5/17/07..I have lost 30 lbs....I couldn't be happier... Good luck to you...I hope all goes well....

Please help, where to start?
I started out going to the seminar first....then once I had the info I needed, I made appointment with the docotor that had the seminar...then I had them check with my insurance co., to see if they would pay for the surgery..I was denied...for two years I went back and forth on trying to make my decision...finally, I decided I would do the self-pay...made another appt and went in to see the doctor and was told to start two week liquid diet on the upcoming Friday(this was on Monday) and then two weeks later I would have the surgery...Boom...it was all set up and I was ready to go...best decision I have ever made... Good luck to you...I hope that all goes well....

I live in squalor
Wow...after reading all of these post I feel like I need to get busy...I love a nice clean house...I can't rest until I have the house at least picked up...I can't stand dirty dishes in my sink or on my counters...I want my bed made shortly after gettting out of it...I try to do a load of clothes , everyday..I want everything put up...I am bad about putting things away and then forgetting where I put them....my dh will leave something out on table, and I come behind him and put it up, just can't remember where I put it...that is a very sore subject with us...I have tried to tell him to put his things away, and I wouldn't have to..then he would know where it is....I recently cleaned out a storage area in my den and put everything of his in one cabinet...now, he knows where his shoes are, his golf magazines, his car magazines, and anything that is his...the cabinet is just for his stuff...I have my own cabinet....this helps me...It is only the two of us here in this big ole house...
