    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Hey everyone! Haven't check in for a while.. I'm 6 1/2 months post op and down 66 pounds.. I too have been bouncing back and forth on the scale for the last month or so, but today I finally hit 198.. I can't say it was a true plateau because I feel like my body has been redistributing the weight, if that makes any sense, and I've lost inches in the past month, but it was still frustrating.. I haven't been working out like I should be, but thats all about to change.. I just bought that T25 program and will be starting it next week.. I'm putting the scale away and just focusing on eating what I'm supposed to be eating and sticking with the program.. Hopefully after the two months I will have dropped a few more pounds.. Honestly, that damn scale has been driving me crazy though, so its going away.. I'm happy my blood pressure is lower, and I can shop in "normal" stores again.. I just bought bras at victorias secret after swearing to the sales clerk that they wouldn't fit! (they didn't fit 2 months ago) Hope everyone else is doing well!! So happy to see people still checking in on this thread!!!

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

I'm coming up on 4 months next weekend.. I eat a lot more, 1200 +/- daily.. Always Protein first, then veggies, then the carbs.. BUT, if I have a craving, I give in to it.. Now, I'm not eating Ben and Jerry's, but if I feel like a slice of pizza, I have it.. I can't eat the whole thing, but I get it over with and move on with my life instead of constantly thinking about it.. I don't eat sweets/desserts of any kind anymore, I've tried and I dump.. No ice cream, milk, frozen yogurt, puddings, nothing.. I don't eat fried food either, makes me sick.. So if I get a craving for real food, I eat it.. I try to replace certain foods too, like if I want a baked potato, I have 1/2 of a baked sweet potato.. If I want something like rice, I eat quinoa instead.. I was dying for a burger the other day, so we went to a restaurant that sells bison burgers, had them wrap it in lettuce instead of a bun.. I ate 1/2, took the other 1/2 home for dinner.. I try to feel as normal as possible!! I try to fit the gym in 3 days per week.. 30 min cardio, 45 min strength.. Its hard right now due to long hours at work, but I know it'll help later on.. Hope everyone is doing well!!!

Just got back from my 3 month post op visit.. Labs were so-so.. Calcium, B1, B12 were all ok.. Iron was low, Vitamin D was low, and Protein were low.. Otherwise, the doc was very happy with me.. Down 48 pounds since surgery, I'd like to lose another 20 by my next 3 month visit.. Hope everyone is doing well..

I am so sorry you are going through this! Hugs. I also hope your blood work comes back fine! I am positive in thinking that it will, you have been trying so very hard at this. Thanx!! I'll definitely explain to the surgeon what happened, but I'm hoping the blood work comes back good!!

Love the before and after pics!!! I need to find a before… I have my 3 month appointment coming up next monday.. I'm supposed to do blood work, but I'm a little nervous about it.. I've had an infection in my tooth, long story short, the dentist opened up the tooth to let it drain and I've been on antibiotics for a couple days.. Since all of this tooth business, I have not taken any Vitamins, I can't chew at all.. I'm hoping once the pain goes away I can start chewing.. I know its only for a few days, but with the blood work coming up, I'm a little nervous it'll show up that I'm deficient.. I guess I'll have to see what happens…

I tried 1/2 of a kit kat the other day… Divine!!! Haven't had any sweets and haven't really been craving them, but I kinda wanted to see if anything would happen… I also tried some regular chips today, also delicious, but they made my pouch hurt, so I won't be eating them anytime soon again.. And considering I'm at around 900 calories a day, there area definitely better foods to be eating!!! lol...

So happy to see the updates!!! It was too quiet on here for too long!!! I'm 11 weeks out and down 45lbs… I had a stall for 2 weeks then dropped 1 lb a day for 5 days… I'll be doing bloodwork and have my next dr appointment the 1st week of january, it'll be interesting to see what my labs look like.. Eating has been getting easier and easier.. I've been eating a good variety of foods without issues.. And surprisingly, I don't miss the sweet stuff, which I couldn't get enough of before.. I haven't tried any of the sugary foods that I used to eat, I'm too afraid.. I've dumped on milk a few times due to the sugars.. Hope everyone does well with the holidays coming up!! Good luck to all!!!

I am very picky with food now.. I don't do protein shakes, they make me gag.. I spent 100's of dollars on different brands, can't find one that I like, so I try to make all my meals protein centric.. its definitely hard though.. I've been trying to add lots of veggies too, so I can get some good carbs in.. Today was 10 weeks for me, down 40 lbs.. Hope everyone is doing well..

Started back at work on Monday, and boy was it a long week!!! I work construction, so I felt completely drained the whole week, and I did eat more, but I moved a lot more, so I think its ok.. By the end of the week, I tried making my meals smaller, but more frequent.. I lost some upper body muscle, I'm going to have to work on that!!

We're the opposite! I'm hungry all the time…. I can only eat a little bit and I get full really fast, but I definitely have hunger.. I also have trouble drinking enough and getting enough protein.. I'm up to 5 cups of Fluid a day and I can get anywhere from 55-75 grams of protein a day.. Its hard...
  11. Wondering if anyone's NUT or Dr advises against gummie vitamins.. I like the gummie vitamins better than regular chewables.. I have a complete gummie vitamin and I took it pre-op every day and all blood work was great.. I also bought the Bariatric Advantage chewables for after surgery, but I hate the after taste.. So I've been taking 2 gummies in the morning and one bariatric advantage at night.. I'm only 2 months post op.. Any info would be appreciated!

Hope everyone did well yesterday! I ate a very small amount of everything - turkey, broccoli, sweet potato, stuffing, turnips & carrots.. Did fine.. We ate at 2 and around 7 I was hungry again, so I ate another small plate of turkey, broccoli, and sweet potato.. I felt pretty good too.. For once I didn't have that thanksgiving full feeling!!

Every plan is different, every person is different.. If you truly are hungry, try having a small protein snack.. String cheese is good, low cal, low fat, and it has some protein.. The smaller cups of greek yogurt is good.. NUT suggested hummus with 6 wheat thins, cucumber with 2 tbls of tuna, 1/2 slice of toast with egg salad, sliced banana with 1 tbls of peanut butter, etc.. IMO, its very easy for a "regular" person to tell someone how to eat, when they are eating "normally".. Good Luck!!!

My NUT said she'd rather have me have 6 small meals than 3 meals per day.. Keeps blood sugar stable and I told her I was waking up at 3 in the am hungry, so that's why she'd rather I have more meals..
