Wow that is crazy.... they made me take a pregnancy test an hour before surgery and said there have been people that they have had to tell, like you. I know there must be so many emotions. I can only imagine as I think back to both of my surprise pregnancies. All I know is that God is always good and knows what He is up to. I am sure that His timing is perfect and if you have asked yourself if you should do this right now.... you have your answer. I will be praying of you to have peace and comfort as your process what all of this means for you and your family.

Lost 13.5 preop and 11 postop. I am on day 19 postop. Total 24.5. an additional 15.5 to qualify for surgery. I started all this in August 2011. Grand total 40 pounds. Wow I can't believe it!
Start weight 282 now 242 Not sure what I want to be my goal weight. I'm thinking 175 would be good for my frame but we'll see. BTW I have NEVER admitted my true weight to anyone. Liberating and scary lol
    Congrats to u all!!!!!

It is time to do this FOR YOU so that you can be healthy, active and enjoy life the way God designed you too. I was sleeved 4 days ago and it is so much easier then I expected. I have to admit as I lay on the table waiting to go into surgery I thought about running... but I had no idea how to get out of there and would have looked so silly in my blue hair net and matching booties and beautiful gray paper gown.... So I stayed there and no regrets! The doctors would not do a sleeve on you if they did not think you would benifit. Trust them... God is going to use them to help bring you the freedom you desire and He has waiting for you to grasp.

Morning all ...last night was rough. I was laying flat in the bed and my incision on the right side was hurting. I guess it doesnt like laying flat, i was too far over and I had a lot of trouble getting up. Took 3 trys of my bf helping me. I finally got to the bathroom and the nausea hit me. Thank god my mom filled my script for the "ondansetron". My bf ran the pills into me. I popped one in my mouth, got up..rushed to bed, he got me the trashcan and a cool rag for my head and i went back to sleep. Woke up around 4 or 5 and took another one, still felt crappy....and finally got up at 815....took another one for precaution sake. Not sure what happened. I haven't really been nauseous. Still having the gas pains in the tummy but they are getting better. My legs feel crampy. I wonder if im dehydrated. I feel like im fitting in as much Isopure and Water as I can. My sleeve is only so big! I have yet to finish a whole bottle of it, but im getting cl
oser. I have my post Op visit tomorrow afternoon...and i think weds or thurs I can add in milk based things (creamed Soup, soy milk, Protein shakes) That will be good. Decided last night to go to the food store website and add stuff to the cart, turns out they will do the shopping for you for 10 dollars and you just pick it up!! That will save me a lot of stress walking around in the store seeing all the yummy foods that i can't have any more. So, I saved my list

Okay so the good part...Today I weighed in at 253.8. My first goal was taking off 25 lbs from my highest. Today.... I am 26.6 lbs down from my highest (280.4 on july 11th). I am down 10.2 since surgery day (wednesday)

    Yesterday I said goodbye 280s, 270s, 260s...hopefully tomorrow I'll be saying goodbye 250's

    Have a great day everyone!!

I still could not personally go through with a bypass surgery.... it was not until I heard about the sleeve that WLS was an option for me. I do feel a bit like a hypocrite because I would say.... just eat like you had one. Tried that and never lasted more then 4 days so I decided after researching the sleeve that this was a safe way I was willing to go to make the lifestyle change I desired.

Let me pile on. This is a great thread. Given the way it has exploded, I think it points out that best case is pretty common.
I had an easy surgery exept it was hard to pass gas because I was constipated (make sure you don't have one in the chamber when you go into surgery). After that everything was a breeze.
I took a week off from work but did not need it. Zero pain, nausea or hearburn. I was walking two miles, 4 days post op. I was back to working a 60 hour week 10 days after the surgery. I get my Protein and my Water every day without much drama. I am starting to renew my social life (without beer). I am eating out occasionally to feel more normal (sashimi, Soups and seafood).
I just had my 4 week post-op visit today. I am down 45 lbs since I started my pre-op diet 6 weeks ago. That is almost half way to my goal. I am taking my calories up to 1,000 a day.

I am off Cholestoral and blood-pressure medicine. CPAP machine is in the trash. Leaving for a trip around the world next week. No worries.

The moment I woke up I was in pain. They gave me good meds. and then I was good.
That night there was discomfort (particularly gas in shoulder) but I walked the halls of the hospital anyway. People who walk get rid of gas faster. You know they blow up the insides with air to see and work so that has to come out.
I have been fine, no problems at all-- not even nausea- which many complain of. I take a PPI from day 1 to avoid heartburn and haven't had that either.
Today is 3 weeks exactly. I can drink with no problem- was able to 2nd day. I can eat pureed food and not experience pain or discomfort.
    I have never felt regret.

So good I feel guilty! I am on day 6 post op and doing well. I am doing great and 8 lbs down since surgery day. I had nausea when awaking from surgery (Probably because I refused the sea sick patch due to previous side effects it gave me) so needed Zofran through IV to manage it. Not severe, never actually threw up just felt it when I would move. Used the morphine pump often for first 10 hours after surgery, to be safe, pain was not very bad but wanted to sleep through nausea. I was up to use bathroom with out any trouble... late the first evening... and a couple times during the night, tummy soreness/pain getting out of bed but that is about it. Walking, and tiny tiny sips started in the morning of the first day. My nurse lined up 3 medicine cups of various fluids, chicken broth, snapple lemon tea, warm chamomile tea and I tried them. Just little sips like swallowing saliva. Up to the bathroom often because of IV drip so did not worry to much about getting liquids on day 2, but managed about 15 of the 1oz medicine cups by the conclusion of the day. Funny thing was to love the camomile tea... never a pre-surgery favorite. Also was glad I had Splenda in my purse.... they only gave the pink stuff. Diet Snapple became my favorite by day 3 in peach or raspberry but needed to be watered down. Broth was too salty and every smell was so intense.... so weird.
I was surprised there were none of the complications I had read about... lips not chapped, no vomiting, drinking was easy by day 3, only thing was tummy pain felt like the most major pain from an ab workout I had ever had. Walking was fine just pain in tummy incisions so holding that part or supporting it with a pillow helped. To put the pain in perspective by 10 hours after surgery I never had any more of any type of pain medicine. There has been no struggles with BM's but starting day 5 it became very watery. Today was the first day of school for my youngest so I did my hair for the first time and made his Breakfast and lunch, took pictures -but he is in 6th grade so I did not walk him the half mile to school or go to his class with him. (this is to tell you I am up and about fine)
You will do so well, I think it is easy to expect all the bad stuff to happen because when we read it we remember it. No regrets at all and so excited still totally not hungry....

I figured to start on with my new journey, that included meeting new friends... and what better friends than ones that have been through all the obstacles you are trying to conquer. You guys are all role models and show the beginners (me included) that this may be a difficut journey but with the right tools you can do it!! NO EXCUSES! Thank you!!

No limits,No mandatory runs,No mandatory weigh-ins makes Gr8rLuv a very big, bad girl !! Currently, I'm miserable...My joints-Achy wrists,back,hips,knees and ankles. sleep Apnea-I got it, Cpap-I wear it. I can't wait to get back to my normal...BMI,Weight, Activity,Sleep.
