Pre-Op, your experience
I had to do 14 days of liquid diet. I got to drink one Slim fast and 5 cans of Ensure each day with two Dannon lite yogurts. I paced it like one item every two hours and that keep the hunger pains away. I started dropping weight right away and lost 20 pounds oin the pre-op diet. SO that helped me along. Plus I got to really like the Ensures and now can't wait to get to senior citizen statis so I can have them again..lol Was on liquid diet for 4 weeks after surgery but got to add things to it and I did this whole liquid diet without cheating once and it went a long way in helping me adjust to new habits. Good luck with your surgery and keep us posted

need encouragement
Jenna, It will only be the hardest going to work. Once you make it there, without smoking, you will do the 8 hours at work then the ride home won't be so bad becasue you will be so proud of yourself for making that day you'll be so busy going over the benifits that you'll not think about sticking that dirty, filthy, stick of desease and disgust in your mouth. Good luck, each day gets better.

need encouragement
Penni, She isn't banded yet...Its after the band she needs to keep them matches away from the bathroom. Jenna we are all pulling for you. Banded or not you have made a major health move by stopping the smoking. I don't know about your area but here on the radio they have some of the hardest hitting anti smoking ads where the kids talk about how much they smoke a day. And they are actually taking about what they intake from their parents smoking. I know two people since these ads started running that quit based on them alone. And after your banded you food intake will be less and like Dawn said you'll taste the food and you really need that to help you feel better. Good luck

OK not for the faint of heart! LOL!!
Penni, I too could not open it. Maybe if you sent it thru my e-mail. Thanks in advance

Moderator and Privacy Issues on LBT
Alex, I understand that your moderators have not had an easy time lately. I hope the board is ready to settle down and return to the great site it is. Moderators need to be able to do thier jobs without fear of disgruntled members going after them in open threads. All complaints should be forwarded to you for consideration and or action. I also hope everyone who hid thier identiy, for what ever reason, informs you as you have requested and ALL given a chance to return here. Some did it to be trouble makers others did it for fear of that almighty PM. But for what ever reason it was done we see the damage it causes. I did not do it but had considered going "Undercover" because I wanted to be able to post and be here without fear. One last thing. Everyone has differnt views on different topics....If everyone is careful in placing a proper title on thier threads then those who do not wish to discuss politics/religion or any other topic then they are warned and should not enter the site unless they can hold a civil discussion and respect others opinions as they want thiers respected. We are not here to hurt but to help each other. If sex/race/religion or political views cloud you abilities to be civil move on to another threads....there are hundreds of them out here.

Im Approved!!
Trish, So happy for you...Good luck with setting that date.

Pain?
Wow I know everyone is different but I am amazed the wide range of difficulty everyone has had with getting around or pain. I was fortunate to be up and walking an hour after getting out of recovery and walked the halls at least once an hour until I got released the next day. The only pain I had was from the gas they blow you up with. It settled behind my lungs and I was not able to lay down. They got me a big comfy surgial lounge chair and propped me up and I was very comfortable the whole nite. Gas trouble was gone by 6am the next morning. I was even able to sleep, and sleep well I did, on my stomach the first nite home. I hope more people have the easy route but those who don't I hope its just a short time in the pain zone.

beer drinkers?
Copper, I was a beer drinker before banding. Dr recommended no beer or any carbonate products...but did say if I could handle the occasional beer it was fine. So I flew all the way to Vegas sat at a video Poker machjine and after pushing $40.00 thu=ru I got that free beer. After half a bottle that was it. Way to uncomfortable in stomach. So the beer which actually worked out costing me $574.00 didn't tase good anymore.

What is the purpose
Penni your very close. I had severe sleep apnea and after it was found I was on what is called a c-pap. This machine just blows room air into your throat so you don't have any sleep stopage. There is another machine and I think its a p-pap and this one only activates when you stop breathing. When I was tested I was found to have stopped 477 times in the 8 hour test. So my c-pap was set at 15. 18 is max setting for humans. After my surgery and weight loss I was retested a few months ago and the c-pap has be re-calibrated to 6. Dr feels I'll be off totally by end of year. Its my understanding if your Dr tubes you during surgery the sleep study isn't needed cause they control your breathing for you. Its if they don't tube they need to test you. I may be wrong on this but its what I have been told. If I hadn't been tested and the sleep apnea found when it was the Dr told me I would not have survived another three months. So if your overweighht and Dr wants you to have the study do it folks. It dosn't hurt amd it may save your life from a problem you may not know you have.

Deleting of a post or thread without the authors permission is not something I am comfortable doing.(and I never got any type of gradification in writing someone a traffic ticket. But as a moderator of sorts it was my job) I would hope that just locking that thread would be acceptible enough and give the author the chance to remove the thread on their own. We cannot force someone to do the right thing.(true but as a moderator if they won't do it you have to, comfortable about it or not) We can only strongly suggest it with guidelines we will put into place. By locking the thread we can discourage them from continuing to do the "wrong thing" and to prevent it from getting out of control even further. I truely hope the new guidelines are followed by all then this whole issue would be mute. I just believe that you have to do what you have to do when in certain positions. And a moderator - moderates as tuff as it may be at times. Your a good person Penni and we have never had a problem with each other and I don't anticipate one in the future. Its just we have to agree to disagree on a moderator's function. And before this turn into one of those dreeded Threads where no one wants to come see lets just end it as we have both spoken our thoughts. Others can decide for themselves their feelings on the matter.

The moderators need to be active in watching what is going on here. And they need to have the power to control out of control people. A frendily warning to someone who is crossing the guidelines would be in order for the first few minor offenses. But they need to remove post that are well outside of the guidelines without the authors permission. This would not be censorship but sound administration of the board. Penni I miss spoke in my post and the above is what I intended to say. I didn't mean to change the words. What I am saying is as a moderator if you see someone is not within the guidlines se by this board I do not find it offensive to have you meet with other moderators and have an intelligent discussion, which is what I know it will be, and come to a decission as to if this person needs to be sent a warning about his/her violation of the rules or not. If he/she does then send it. If they keep it up then they should be bared from here... They have no complaint if they are warned. What good will the guidlines be if there can't be some reasonable enforcement of them... I sure am not promoting a dictatorship here but some reasonable enfocement. God only knows had we had that before, this thread won't be necessary. I know its hard for the moderators but you are our jury of peers here to make decisions. And all jurys are asked before they sit in judgement if they can make an informed finding. If you are so far on the right or left of the censorship issue, and this is not to be taken that I am accussing you of this but only food for thought, then moderators need to be honest and not accept the position. As stated before I do not like censorship but control is needed in some situations that may call for action with the deleteing or removal of postings and or member if it becomes necessary. And I mean after all other attempts to stop it fail. I do Love ya all but I also know you have a tough job and if its done right you have my respect and support no matter what you have to do.
