  1. Delarla, Amen amen amen Hm does this fullfill my obligation for church this weekend??? Greg
  2. Penni, Congradulations on reaching 50 pounds. Keep going. Greg
  3. LISA, WORKS FOR ME WITH A LITTLE BLEACH IN IT. lET IT SIT ON STAIN FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN USE A HARD BRISSLE BROOM TO SCRUB IT. WASH AWAY WITH Water. GREG
  4. Melissa Sounds like you going thru everything you should be. The pain gets less and less everyday. The hunger pains will go away but remember since you not on solid foods yet things still have a tendency to slide down faster into the stomach and that allows your system to feel hunger pains. But this will staighten out. So will the loose BM'S. That only normal but remember babys are on liquid diets in the beginning and they sure found ways to poop (sorry lack of better term). The gas (belching and farting) seem to hang around. But then I'm a guy so I'm not concerned about that LOL. Actually allows me to win contests at work LOL. Only suggestions I can give is follow the diet as it is given you... Don't rush to the next level till you feel ready. And take your time with your feelings. Your reading a new you and you have to get in touch with yourself again. This does work and it works well. Just don't stray off too much. The liquid diet before the surgery is different with each Dr. It is actually designed to shrink your liver to get it out of the way so Dr can get in there. I losat 20 pounds in the two pre op weeks on the liquids and that I was told was just a side effect. Hell give me more LOL Seems though your doing well. Just remember the Water. Helps the flow thru the system and gets the toxins out as they break down. Good Luck Greg
  5. I use Coke to clean oil stains off driveway LOL... Something should have told me then that this stuff isn't good for you. Greg
  6. Marie, I falied to mention that I am presently on a 1600 calorie intake. Along with the Diet pop I'd stop and pick up I also picked up well over 1600 calories in candy bars and Snacks that came to work with me everynight and I ate them all. Since being banded for some reason I lost my sweet tooth and don't even like candy anymore Greg
  7. Adoreme7 The bands have a balloon feature in them that allows the Dr to make the band tighter or losser around the stomach. Normally when the band are put on they are not inflated. The stomach will swell from the surgery and cause the hole (stoma) conneting the upper smaller pouch with the lower stomach to be small. As the stomach settles down the stoma opens up and the food we eat passes thru and doesn't stay for the designed period of time in the upper pouch. Once the food goes into lower stomach you get the hunger pains again. So to make the food stay in upper pouch when this occurs the Dr will give you a "Fill". that is done by injecting a measured amount, determined by the dr< into the band thru the port placed in the belly. This doesn't hurt. The band has Fluid added and the balloon expands causing the stoma to close holding the food in upper pouch longer. Then you don't feel hungry. If you are losing to much weight and not eating as much as you should the Dr. then can go into the port and withdraw some fluid to open the band. Hope this isn't too wordy of an answer and helps you to understand the proceedures. Greg
  8. I actually thought that the Coca Cola Co would go out of busines when I was told to stop drinking it. I always stopped at the 7/11 on my way to work and got a 44 oz. The while at work I would have the cops stop and pick me up at least two more 44ozer during the nite. When I get home from work I would drink 2 two litre bottles while doing chores. When I stopped drinking it pre op I noticed that my joints didn't hurt as much and I general felt better. I did suffer a three day headach from stopping the caffine and that was more painful then the surgery. The trouble with the diet pops is you cannot use them to count towards your daily Water intake for the have no water value if you can believe it. So if I was still drinking the pop I'd still have to down 64 oz of water. Just not going to happen. I have replaced the pop with a drink made by Gaterade called "Propel" its a fitness water and can count towards your daily water intake. its very low in calorie, crab etc. its lightly flavored and they are very good. Paula...if you want to try beer try drinking tap beer...not as carbonated and doesn't irratate the stomach as much as bottled beer. Of course the keg takes up a lot of room in fridge LOL No matter how you look at it though we are all better off not drinking the Pop diet or regular. It was part of our problem to begin with. I don't know about you but I remember the days of asking for Two whoppers large Fry and an apple pie....Would you like something to drink with that sir. "Oh yea a diet pop" duh. Always was justifiy eating bigger portions because it was alright I was drinking Diet Pop. Greg
  9. Joanne, Sounds like your doing very well and going thru what we all have been thru. SO we understand. I was lucky enough that the gas only gave me a problem until about 6am the next moring then that gas was gone and no further trouble with it. But another gas popped up and boy am I having fun with that. (Its a guy thing ladies). I know have an excuse. "Sorry honey its from the surgery" Don't have to make sure the dog is in the room anymore. LOL oh well that to will pass, no pun intended. Good luck with your journey to new health and a long life. Since I'm not married to a man( or dating one) I have to say that my wife has been my biggest supporter of this surgery. She is behind it 100%. God love her as I do Best Wishes Greg
  10. Debra, I don't know if Michelle got back to you so I'm forwarding the phone number for you. Ask for Debbie...if she is there she knows more about the support group then some of the other girls. 586-774-8811 I hope they allow it to be opened up. Never can get enough support. If you make it there we'll see you tonight. Good luck Greg

LOL your funny Delarla. I am on here at work on midnites and for hours I'm the only one signed on. Boy is that ever a lonely feeling. But I at least get a lot of reading on the post done. I do enjoy this site very much. Behave Greg

Personally I think your all sick people. LOL Take two asprins and call me in the morning. See you at the Support Meeting queenmichelle....If I can push myself away from the computer long enough to go. I lost two pounds last week and I think I know why...Someone here is playing a cruel joke on me. Whenever I turn on the computer it says "You've got mail" I then run upstairs and out the door to the street and check the mailbox. Nothing there. Oh well I'm getting the excerise. This happens at least 20 times a day. Trouble is here at work I can't go outside and check for mail. I'm confused. Mailperson doesn't deliver during my midnite shift. At least being here I can count myself as being in with the most helpful and generious people in the world... Greg
  13. Boy I've gotton to Love Monday's and its not the football...since I sleep thru that . Down two more this week. If I was any happier it would have to be my wedding day again. Good luck all Greg
  14. Betty, Best of luck. Your going to be just fine. World's biggest baby says so. LOL Will hold you up for Praise at church in morning. You'll be back here in no time telling us your fears were unwarranted. Greg
  15. Hi, I was scheduled for 8:30 when I went in. Had to be there at 6:ooam. You pull up to the front of the hospital off of Moross Rd and can park there. When you go in the front doors The Same Day Surgery Center is right there on the left. I got out at 1pm the next day. I was in a little longer then most (Normally out by 9am) but I didn't get taken to x-ray for the swallow test until late. But that was ok with me. Had no plans LOL The people in that unit took very good care of me and they were all so bubbly. I had a real difficult time with the gas that they blow your stomach cavity up with. It got behind my lungs and when I would try to lay down I couldn't breath. SO I was sitting up all the time. When the nurse came in and told me I should lay down before I fall asleep and drop off the bed. I told her why I couldn't lay down. She told me I should have said something sooner. They brought in this real comfortable Lazy boy style chair and propped me up and I slept like a baby. By 6am the gas pains were gone on not pain or discomfort since then. And its not as nosey as other area's in the hospital. So it was very nice. I had a room all to myself. Your getting close and I wish you the best o luck. I know I can tell all I want and I won't get you to not feel uneasy but I'm the worlds largest baby and I found this experiance to be a cake walk. Hope all goes as well for you. greg
  16. Karen, Your an inspiration to everyone. You have done a fantasitic job. And we all know its not easy. Your grandaughter is absolutely adorable. Looks like her grandma. But isn't she a but young to be shaving her head LOL she looks like my two boys. lol Keep up the good work Greg
  17. Katie, Remember your only remodeling the house you live in its still you. Its good to see what you look like and no one here will ever look at it an say anything other then welcome. We all started out in the same boat. Good luck and remember don't get discouraged. It went on easy but comes off slower. But its a downward movement this time and no returning. Greg
  18. Cort you won't find a better place to send you pre-surgery and post surgery then here. Not only are these people supportive they are just plan beautiful (proof of that is just look at my avatar LOL LOL). Delarar normally would have more to say but she just hosted a whole group of lapbanders at her home in Vegas over the weekend and I suspect if you were at here house now she is probably sitting at the computer...typed out Howdy from Veags and fell asleep. The woman has energy like no other. But it has to catch up to her sooner or later. I think we all had the same feeling you have about what was going on with us. You'll see here shortly that that will disappear soon after surgery. The people here wil be proof there is life after fat. Good luck and keep us posted Greg
  19. Betty, Good luck and don't worry its all worth it. I'll keep you in my prayers on your surgery date and pray for a smooth proceedure and a fast recovery. Best of luck Greg
  20. Way to go Betty... You on your way. Will keep you in our prayers for a smooth surgery and a fast recovery. Its really worth what you will go thru. Best wishes Greg
  21. Best wishes for a speedy recovery for both of you. I have a black Lab mix and the life expectancy for them is 12. When she was 14 she had a cancerous tumor in the belly. Dr said she may not survive the surgery and if she did she was looking at several months of chemo. Surgery was $700.00 and chemo could cost up to $1,200.00. We we decide as a family that we didn't want her to suffer so I told them I'd bring her back in a week to be put down. Week came and I was in the parking lot of the vets with her licking my face as I was crying and saying good bye. Well after about an hour and no tears left I went in and made a surgery appointment for her. Doc got all the cancer and she didn't have to go thru the chemo. That was 4yrs ago and she is still running around here. Slowed down but has no pain and she still meets me at the door every morning at 7am when I get home from work. Things do work out. Well once again good luck and keep us posted Greg
  22. Michelle, I spoke to Dr Meguid about drinking...He said beer has carbination and may cause problems. He told me to try it if I wanted by drinking one and if I tolerate it then I can drink it in moderation of course. AS far as liquor goes its not so much that you can't have it it just turns to sugar in your system rapidly and works against your weight loss. We shouldn't get drunk any faster cause the alcohol doesn't get into our blood stream until it passes out of the stomach. Only about 20% gets in thru the stomach. ASk the Dr they will talk to you about it. They are really great and will give you their opinion and leave it up to you. Good Luck Greg
  23. Michelle, You have done a fantastic job and your looking very very good. And I agree with your tips. working for me. Good luck Greg
  24. Darcy, It was tougher then most would know. I came to love that scale when the weight was falling off fast. But I just woke up and got on it and I lost two pounds since last Monday so it was worth it. I think I'll have no problems this week. Now that I'm in the 1 to 2 pounds a week loss range I won't get upset when I have 3 or 4 days of same weight. Michelle congrads on your loss even after all the partying. Penni I would have gladly given up several pounds to have been able to be in Vegas. You all looked like you had more fun then anyone could imagine. Well new week. I wish everyone the best and have to say it took courage for you ladies to get on scale after your weekend. But the damage isn't unrepairable. Well its my 30th annive. Wife is around here somewhere...see if I can catch her and burn off few calories. Later all Greg
  25. Betty, Sorry wife keeps me pretty busy around here right now. Seems I let lots slide while I was always tired and lazy due to weight. Took any chance I could to put off physical labor. Today is scale day.. CAn't believe I have gone a whole week without getting on it. (wife can't either). At work now and when I get home I will weight after I get up from sleeping. Greg
