Everything Went Well 6 Week Pics
So yesterday i wrote that i was having my first post op apt with the surgeon and i promised id let you know how it went.. so here goes... the doc said i am doing better % wise than most bypass patients...lol.. Because i started at a lower BMI she said the amount of weight that i lost was actually really good. so that made me pretty happy.. and we decided that I can go to full work outs which is nice cuz im gonna start workin my abs like you wont believe... I am GOING to have a six pack or at least the girl version of one.. IM DETERMINED! I was also finally released to eat salad.. which i know doesn't seem like much..but oooohhhhh how ive missed salad. So everything went well.. and we decided my goal should be 150-160 so i going to shoot for the 150 but we will see how much fat i can get off at around 160. Thanks everyone for your support the other day I was truely nervous, but thankfully im doing well and what i supposed to do. and so i wanted to show you guys some updated pics. the first one is me at my heaviest... the next three were taken yesterday!!! down 30 lbs!!!! current weight 204.0

Tomorrow I Go See The Surgeon For My First Post Op Evaluation....nervous!
SO OK.. tomorrow will be the first time my surgeon sees me since i had the surgery back on 12-12-11. Im not sure what to expect.. Im a little nervous...NO FORGET THAT IM A LOT NERVOUS! I am soooo afraid that they are gonna tell me that im behind schedule of what im supposed to be losing. Ive heard stories ad i just don't wanna come out of there disappointed in myself.. I mean im doin everything that i can, i work out, and im getting in my Water and food(sometimes) im just afraid of what they will say.. I guess the only thing that I am excited about is for them to tell me what my ACTUAL goal weight is supposed to be.. the number on my ticker is just something that I made up cuz no one ever gave me a number.. i think im actually supposed to be somewhere around 160-165 because i do have a lot of muscle, but we shall see. ANY ADVICE?!?!?!?!?! CUZ I THINK IM GONNA STRESS OUT UNTIL TOMORROW!

Week 6-- Only 6 More Pounds To Onederland
Hey jab, im glad i could give you a little motivation.. i like to think im a little bit lucky cuz i work at night so i have all day to get my workout in and it sounds like you have a lot of responsibilities. so anything you do is still better than nothing. My suggestion is to start out slow, maybe 30 min of walking after dinner or once the kids are down to sleep.. even if that means walking around your house. even the slightest thing that you can do dance while you are cooking, etc. just get your body moving... it is the only thing that has helped me from stalling. compared to a lot of people you and I have lower BMI's to start with so we have to work for each lb lost. If you need a motivational buddy id be happy to message you every day and just say.. HEY what did you do today? maybe this will help. here is a work out schedule for you to try, monday-rest tuesday- cardio 30min wednesday- 3 sets of 15 wall push ups. (just lean against a while and do pushups) thursday- rest friday- cardio 30min saturday- 3 sets wall squats(back against the wall squat and hold position for 20 sec) sunday- rest try this schedule with your couch to 5k. and see if it helps.. make sure that you are getting protein after you work out, it will help to rebuild your muscles. *just think of it this way, when you work out your body burns fat up to 45 mins after your done.. help your body out! and it will help you not to stall. Ive bee lucky I havent had to deal with any real stalls since i started because ive worked out since i could. GOOD LUCK TO YOU HOPE THIS HELPS!

Week 6-- Only 6 More Pounds To Onederland
So yesterday was my 6 week post op... here are my stats 5'7'' HW: 265 GW: 250 DoS: 238.1 CW: 206.8 total loss: 31.3 lbs I am sooooo excited right now. I am so pleased with my results so far I could just scream! I have to be thankful that I havent really hit any kind of real stall, and I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that im at the gym every day. I am down 2 more pant sizes and I am really happy that I saved all of my old clothes cuz i seriously wouldnt have had anything to wear. lol. I have to admit even tho im seriously happy, I need to get back on track with taking my vitamins, and eatting on a more regular schedule. Issues is the vitamins are kinda gross even tho ive tried a few different ones, and the im just not hungry most of the time. But I will do better, because i don't want to fall in any type of deficiency. So a lot of people have been asking me what kind of regemin i do for work out so here is my schedule. monday- zumba tuesday- kick boxing and circuit training wednesday- free day thursday- arms and shoulders, 5k run friday- kick boxing and circuit training saturday- legs, back and glutes, 5k run I know it looks like a lot and it is for only being 6 weeks out, but i make sure to listen to my body.. and i cant wait to go see my doc in 3 days... I want to get released to do full workouts so i can start doing ABS!!! i want my tummy flat, and ROCK HARD. Its funny cuz before the surgery I always like to do some type of activity, but a lot of the time the motivation wouldn't really be there.. and now i have the motivation for like 5 people, mainly because i really don't want the lose skin, but also because i didn't just get this surgery to lose weight while i sat on my ass. I wanted to be able to get back into sports and not be in so much pain all the time. THIS SURGERY IS THE BEST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPEND TO ME AND IM GOING TO TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF IT WHILE I CAN!

Can Using Coconut Oil On Skin Cause Gain?
yes it your skin can absorb the oil as fat. its one of the reasons they tell you when you are doing HCG not to use oils.. Mainly because your body is in ketosis and the since while on full liquids you actually intaking a certain amount of carbs as well your body acts like its on atkins ... well adding oil basically acts like adding a tone of carbs to atkins. so just be careful as to what you put on topically.

Can You Lose Too Much Weight After Vsg & Does Your Energy Drop?
im just under 6 weeks out.. and i feel fantastic.. even tho this week ive kinda slacked ive been at the gym since week 1. I go or at least I try to go to the gym 5 days a week.. im kinda like you, ive always been very active with the exception of 4 knee surgeries ive always played sports.. i have a lower bmi, because a lot of my weight comes from having a lot of muscle and i just have a larger bone structure than most i guess. even tho my ticker says i have a higher bmi i went in and had a test done. I don't think you will have much to worry about, a lot of it i think is mental, if you wanna be lazy i guess you will, but if you wanna get up and do something well.. thats all the motivation you will need.. Good luck on your journey and just like marys said, i would do it all over again in a heart beat!

How Much Did You Lose In Month 1
Your doing amazing..I lost 24lbs my first month..but remember its gonna be different for everyone because we all have a different amount of weight to lose and we started with different bmi's. The higher ur bmi the more ur gonna lose initially because there is in general...more to lose..my personal numbers are going to be a lot lower than most because I have a larger frame and a lower bmi to start. Just know that ur doing amazing and yes ur losses are going to slow as u drop mire weight , but u will eventually hit goal!

Slow Loss
I think you are doing an amazing job.. you started out with a lower BMI than a lot of people kind of like me so you bound to lose weight at a slower rate. and honestly i wouldn't worry about it cuz where other people losing more quickly will have to worry about more excess skin, you already have most of that beat! thats actually what im hoping for.. i figure if i want to bump up my weightloss ill do it by hitting the gym. that way im losing weight but still protecting my skin by building lean muscle. From the sounds of it you are doing a fantastic job so keep it up!!!!!! and by the looks of your ticker even tho its 30 lbs post op.. you are down 61 lbs!!! thats an amazing number! you didn't gain that in a few months so that fact that you lost in a a shorter amount of time is nothin to huff at. Hope that helps but honestly i think your doin wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy To Be Here
Hey Bryan.... I am just over a month out 5 weeks to be exact. The thing is everyone is different and honestly yes you may have complications, but as long as you are doing what the doctor is telling you.. those complications will be reduced to mere fears hopefully. My surgery went very well, i had no nausea, no vomitting, slept fine, basically havent had any real issues other than gas which is kind of expected. So i hope this puts you at ease a little bit. Im sure your surgery will go flawlessly, and you will be on your way to a healthy happy life. I always say yes you should be aware of the risks, but do they really out weigh the benefits/rewards!?! I had one episode this whole time where i had to go to the hospital and they didnt find anything wrong, it was just a weird pain that went away the next day, only to find out that im allergic to iodine..lol. go figure. other than that its been pretty smooth sailing. So good luck to you and just know if you have any fears, ask questions to your doc he will be able to give you good answers and hopefully put your mind at ease.

Week 5- Lmao!
OK so since last weeks blog got deleted, ill do a quick update. STATS: surgery 12-12-11 5'7" Hw: 265 GW:250 DoS:238.1 CW:212.1 DOWN 26 LBS...OH YEA! So here it is week 5. And honestly i think im doing pretty well.. Ive had ups Ive had downs, but overall im doing good... CAUTION-- this might be TMI.. lol So on the 14th, mother nature decided she was gonna rear her ugly head, gotta love that time of the month. And so far i havent really dealt with any stalls.. i had a minor gain the 3rd week, but that came off with some so i wasn't to unhappy and it only lasted a day or two so wasn't to bad. Anyways, so i have been steadily loosing approx 2 lbs per day before my TOM, and then once it started i gained 2 lbs.. damn water retention..lol. anyways So even tho im back to 212, im just sitting at this number until my cycle ends. its a little frustrating, but its just something im going to have to deal with. I guess the reason that i brought it up is because now im just going to laugh... this means every month im gonna deal with this. LMAO! ugh the joys of being a woman. Ill tell you why its funny to me.. before surgery i had been on DEPO for 9 years. I haven't had a freaking period in 9 years... ugh now im gonna have one every month. lolololol... FABULOUS! Anyways thats my rant and rave for the week.. other than that.. YUP im still hitting the gym 5 days a week, and it feels great!... JUST STARTED KICK BOXING... and lemme tell you.. that is a work out and a half!.. lastly, i have my follow up with my surgeon on the 27th! Im hoping she releases me to start doin full workouts.. i want to start working my abs!

Week 4- Down A Total Of 21Lbs.. Im Lovin Life Right Now!
I actually started doing real exercise about 1 week post op... but from the moment i got home i was walking everyday. Mainly because it helped with the gas, but the sooner you get going the easier it is. I have always been very active, even at my highest weight so having the energy hasn't really been an issue for me. I have been an athlete all my life, so i have a little more extensive knowledge than the average person about working out. I have shared my stats normally i put it as the first thing when i blog, but when the VST went down the other day it deleted everything, lol... but ill give them to you.. Im 5'7" HW:265 GW:250 DoS:238.1 CW:212.1 surgery was 12-12-11 down 26lbs.. you actually have a lower BMI than most people i think i started at 39BMI somewhere around there. And so we will lose weight at a slower rate than others but i found that with the working out im staying as on track as possible if not more than i guess the average person.. Good luck on your surgery tho.. im sure you will do great.

Workout/motivational Buddy Anyone?
Im sorry to hear about your nausea, but it sounds like you are really doing wonderful. I keep wanting to try a boot camp class but my doctor really wants me to wait till i go in for my post op with the surgeon on the 27th so i figure i will wait before i start anything else that will force me to really work out. I am still hitting the gym 5 days a week, and i recently started running again, i make sure thats its a slow and steady run and im not pushing myself ridiculously hard, but i am taking it a little further each day. So hopefully im not over doing it, but i feel so good after my workouts. the only thing that has stopped me dead in my tracks is it that TOM, lol.. which really puts a damper on things. It started yesterday and in one day i gained 2 lbs. i was down to 212.1 sorry if thats TMI. lol... but other than that i think im doing well.. hopefully i am done by this weekend so i can get back to running.

Holy Heartburn!
thank you for all your replys... whats funny is i never even knew i had an issue until i had the sleeve and they told me they fixed the hernia, it never bothered me before, and i never had reflux or excess acid before . ... so i guess its just really odd to me. they gave me pantoprazole before leaving the hospital said its supposed to reduce acid in the stomach...which in turn helps with the hunger feeling.. and since surgery i think i only had one other time where i felt heart burn but nothing like i did this morning.. and i took 2 tums and about an hour later took 2 more.. then i finally took some pepcid that i had from a while back. Once that kicked in it finally helped.. I still have no idea what caused it because i hadn't eatten anything withing about 5 hours cuz i was at work so i know it wasn't from food, but lately its almost as if there is soooo much acid in my tummy that its just working its way back up my throat.. I guess ill take your advice and sleep sitting up lol... poop. lol. @ ocean... yea i knew it was a possiblity i guess i just really didn't think I WOULD have to deal with it you know.. lol wishful thinking i guess. figured if i never dealt with it before why would it start now.. but hopefully it goes away.

Holy Heartburn!
So im a little bit upset, ive never had heartburn in my life! And when i went in for the sleeve the doc said they repaired a hiatal hernia.. stating that is what was causing my excessive burping and HEARTBURN. ... I told them, well thats odd cuz ive never had heartburn.. and to be honest i like to burp cuz it helps me to expell trapped gas. whats the problem... I woke up at 6am this morning and my esophagus was on fire.. WTH?!?!?!?!? i now know what heartburn feels like.. and on top of that since my surgery ive felt like randomly when i lay down i almost want to start spitting up acid creeping up my esophagus. WHAT GIVES!!!!!!!!! I mean i know they said that with this surgery you may get heartburn, but hell if it wasn't broken to begin with why fix it.. NOW I have the issues.. THIS SUCKS! AND BURNS LIKE THE FREAKING DEVIL! ok now that ive just ranted, i have to say i still love my sleeve but damn, this heartburn thing is gonna drive me nuts.. ANY SUGGESTIONS TO KEEP IT AT BAY?

Yesterday Was Officially My 1 Month Surgiversary!
I know im a day late, but thats ok. Yesterday was my 1 month surgiversary.. needless to say its been one hell of a rollercoaster ride. Thankfully i hadnt had any huge stalls and or complications other than my one trip to the E.R where they couldnt find anything wrong.. lol. Other than that I have to admit its been pretty smooth sailing. So here are my stats! 5'8" HW:265/270 GW:250 DoS:238.1 CW:214 FOR A TOTAL LOSS OF 24 LBS.... HECK TO THE YEA!!!! i think i owe a lot of that to hitting the gym 5 days a week. I WORK OUT.. WIGGLE WIGGLE WIGGLE WIGGLE WIGGLE ... YEAH!!!!!!!! :purplebananna:
