Post Op Pics - 4 Months Out
Your story is very inspiring. I am 25 days post op. I lost 18lbs preop, 11lbs by 11 days postop and then bam... Stalled. I've lost 1.5lbs in 2 weeks. I am on full liquids consisting of 3 protien drinks and 2 yogurts a day. It's so disappointing to be on such a restrictive diet and not lose the weight. The nutritionist tells me it's normal. At this point, I regret having the procedure done. Please share any advice that you may have. Thanks!

Dear 3 week stall..
The stall can kiss by butt too. 17 days post op and haven't lost a lbs since day 11. RRR!!!

two weeks out- what is everyone eating?
I'm going through the same thing. I lost 18 preop, 11 the first week and 1 single little lbs since. How discouraging. I do think it has to do with too little calories and not enough liquids.

I am really amazed at the differences in dietary timelines.
For 2 weeks pre and 4 weeks post op, my dr requires 3 protien drinks / 2 yogurts a day. I think he does this because he sells us the pricey drinks. At 4 weeks post op, we are to switch to 2 drinks and one mushy meal until we reach our goal. Then 1 drink daily for maintenance. I am 16 days post op. I stopped losing weight on day 11. I am very disappointed. They say a 3 week stall is normal but after 11 days and under 500 calories?
-
Frustrated-please help me understand
My 'three week stall' started at day 10 after surgery. My diet is supposed to consists of 3 protein shakes/2 yogurts for 4 weeks post op. I'm not breaking 500 calories a day. I lost more the 2 weeks before surgery than I have after the 2 weeks after. I really hope this stall ends soon. I've very discouraged.

2 1/2 weeks out and the scale's not moving!!!
Melissa: i am stalled too. 18lbs pre op. 11lbs aftwr but not an ounce since Thursday. It's so discouraging. I'm on the same diet that I was preop...3 protein shakes and 2 yogurts. It's so discouraging when I'm on strict liquids and not losing. I have two more weeks of this diet too. I think he does the 6 weeks of shakes because he sellS his own special shake. It's so gross too! I'm also trying to force the shakes down. I'm not hungry and worry about the same thing...be right back were I was. Let's hope for a good week and a few lbs!

2 1/2 weeks out and the scale's not moving!!!
Melissa, We talked before...our surgeries were the same day. What is your post op diet? are you eating enough?
-
I guess I'm at a stall
You are not alone. Tomorrow, I will be 2 weeks post op and I haven't seen the scale move in 4 days. My body has to be in shock or something. This is so discouraging.

2 1/2 weeks out and the scale's not moving!!!
Tomorrow I will be 2 weeks post op and the scale hasn't moved in four days. Not an ounce. I immediately had that feeling of failure that came with every old diet attempt over the past 20 years. I'm fighting tears as I write this because I am really hoping that I didn't put my body (and bank account) through all of this to fail yet again. I'm on a 4 week post op diet of 3 Protein shakes and 2 fat free yogurts. I usually get down 2 shakes and 2 yogurts. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Post Op Diet
I'm only 11 days post op but looking forward to food again. I was required to do a 2 week pre op liquid diet of 3 Protein shakes and 2 yogurts. Now, after surgery, the surgeon told me today for the best weight loss results, he asks his patients to stay on that diet for 4 more weeks. Here's the catch....he pushes his 'special' expensive Protein powder. What was everyone eating at 2 weeks out? 3? 4? If it's best for my body, then ok. But if he is just trying to push his drink, I would like to start adding things into my diet at 2 weeks...maybe pureed cottage cheese Any thoughts?

Liquid Diet
Did you have to do a preop diet? You won't want much when you come home. I'm 11 days post op. This is the diet I did for 2 week prior to surgery and am on for 4 weeks after. It's very limited and boring. I had my first checkup today and was hoping he would move me to 'mushys'. Nope. Blah! He did give me recipes on mixing the Protein shakes with coffee for a 'latte' type of drink. Also, he suggested flavoring the vanilla Protein drinks with the crystal light or sugar free tang. Good Luck with the surgery. :-)

12 Days Post Op and No Problems
I am five days post op. I had severe nausua and pain issues after and was in for three days. I'm doing well now. I am not taking the pain meds either. I was pretty swollen after surgery so tomorrow will be my first big weigh in. I'm on the Full liquid for four weeks. This consist of 3 protien shakes, 2 yogarts and 2 jellos. I have yet to get a whole shake down in a single day. Yesterday, I only had about 140 calories. My sister noticed that I have black bags around my eyes.I'm looking forward to cottage cheese and sugar free pudding. Congradultions on your loss! Keep up the great work.

Emotion Overload!!!!
My surgery is tuesday 9/13. I am terrified that I am doing the wrong thing. My stomach is so nervous that I'm afraid that I might vomit. I too question why I can't do this on my own. Why do I need to do this to my body? Why can't I control myself? Should I try one last time? If I can do the liquids for two weeks, why can't I stick to other diets? Well, I've done the 'one last time' weekly for about 20 years. I'm going to keep checking back to this site just to read the success stories to encourage me to keep going. Good luck on your journey.

Surgery is tomorrow!
Now this is what I like to see! After reading too many horror stories about recovery, I am relieved to see that you are doing so well. My surgery is Tuesday 9/13. I don't have my time yet but I am a nervous wreck.
-
Does it take 2 or 3 weeks to recover?
My surgery is in two days. I have off from tuesday 9/13 until Monday. My surgeon said I would only need 3-4 days to recover. I'm freaking out now.

Pre-op diet
I have been exhusted since starting the liquids too. I can handle the hunger but my diet is under 800 calories which includes 3 protien drinks and two yogurts and jello. Under normal circumstances, I don't think a dr would never prescribe a diet that low in calories. I'm just sucking it up and accepting that I am exhusted and moving on. I hope this improves after surgery.

One week to Go
Melissa: We have the same surgery date! I'm scared too. Not of the pain but of the fact that I might not be successful. I will be so embarrassed and ashamed if, after all of these, I can't lose the weight. I think you are right about the exercise. I have been watching YouTube videos of people that have had the surgery. Many successful ones said that they immediately started to walk after surgery. It helped with the gas from surgery. I'm trying to soak up any useful information that I can find. I've tried and failed so many diets. I am amazed that I have been on a liquid diet for this many days. This just shows that we can do this. We've got this!!! This is a new start for all of us. :-) We need to keep in touch and compare our recovery. We can be Sleeve buddies.

2 week Pre-Op Diet
I'm on day 7 of my two week preop liquid diet. It's killing me. I haven't broke but I am so hungry that I exhusted and sick. I understand that the diet is to shrink your liver and teach portion control but this is basically starvation. I've read that other's were instructed to do low carb or low fat diets. A friend of mine only had to do two days of liquid. Why no consistence? This liquid diet makes me long for the Atkins days....

One week to Go
After reading many websites, I realized that I could use a little (or a lot) of support. This site is just what I need. My surgery is scheduled for 9/13. I am on day 7 of a 14 day preop liquid diet. It is very difficult. I completely understand why the diet is needed but if I could stick to liquids only for 14 days, would I really need to have my body operated on? Why can't I use this same will power and lose the weight the traditional way? I know why. I know myself. That might work for a few weeks but I would break. My binges are small ones either. In the last year, I have regained about 60 lbs. that I had lost during dating a man that wanted 'perfection'. When things suddenly dissoved, I gave up. So here I am. I come from a family of thin attractive people. I am the only large person.. Some support my decision, some don't. My brother and sister in law spent a few hours trying to talk me out of it this afternoon. I even started doubting myself. Still, I know that I have to do this for myself. On august 19th, I was 311. I started the liquids at 306.6. One week in, I am at 294.4. If anyone has any advice, please don't hesitate to contact me. ~Kate
