  6. Thanks everyone for your responses! I am happy to say, I had my 1st BM today, 7 days later! It wasnt so bad, but, I have been taking stool softeners and miralax. That did the trick!!! I also got rid of alot of gas in the proccess, so, I think that is a good sign! yay!
  7. Me either! I was sleeved the same day and no BM either! I am getting worried to I am upping the stool softeners! The only gas I have is burbs, nothing from the southern end yet! Hopefully things will start moving in the right direction soon!
  8. MY bougie size was 36-38. my surgeon doesnt go smaller than that because the smaller the bougie the higher risk of a stricture, thats what i was told. I have heard of bougies as small as 28, 29. Alot of surgeons do a 32 though, that is pretty common! Congrats on your sleeve!
  9. the pain was from the lower left side, right? Mine is hurting so bad, especially if i sit for a while then try to stand or sit. My incision sites dont hurt at all! Just where they cut the muscle. It even hurts around my side to my left side back. I really hope it gets beeter soon!! Thanks for your reply!
  10. I took my lisinipril up to the day before surgery. I was in hospital 3 days and 2 nights without my BP meds. When they discharged me my discharge notes said the surgeon took me off the BP meds. This was this week, so i guess i am off them now. Hope this helps
  11. Hi sleevers! Got back from hospital wednesday. I havent pooped since tuesday morning and I havent been able to fart, just burp. I took my stool softener this morning. Anyone else have these issues? I want to be sure this isnt a complication! Thanks for any responses. xoxo
  12. I started gas ex last night. It hurts getting up and down still! The dr said she had to cut my abdominal muscle. They have me on a muscle relaxer and percaset ( cant spell) my husband says its a strong pain killer. My incision sites dont hurt at all, its just the whole left side when I move. Whenever i get up to pee i walk around. I hope it heals soon so I can start to enjoy my new life! Thanks for the replies!
  13. I am so happy to hear you are doing so well 1 day after surgery! I was wondering, wow are you feeling? my left lower abdomen is killing me. my doctor said its the mucles that are making me sore, but, its SO painful! My incision sites are fine! 16. Hi guys! My surgery is wednesday and I am coming to a close on day 2 of liquids. I am doing ok because of the Protein shakes, but, I am hungry and so wanting to eat! tomorrow is alittle different as its only Clear Liquids, which is kinda a problem cause everything has red dye in it and i cant have it, but i plan on alot of broth that is loaded with sodium! I am worried i am going to STARVE tomorrow and then my surgery is wednesday, I feel like i dont know when the next time im gonna eat is! Will i be hungry after surgery? Please tell me what its like! Its hard going from eating big satisfying portions to nothing!!!! My idiot husband was watching the food network earlier and I couldnt believe how insensitive! I know he is clueless, but, still! I feel like backing out cause I am scared of giving up food. I keep telling myself i will be able to eat eventually, but, going into the unknown scares me. I hear different stories and some are really scary and I pray that I have a smooth sleeve experience. Then I read my hospital papers and they were talking about the cold sterile surgery room and I started to get really nervous! I want this so bad, but, I am having second thoughts! It all happened so quick and im scared! Did anyone else go through this?
  17. Hi all! My surgery is coming up and I have a few extra boxes of my medifast! Is it ok to use up my medifast as my protein drink after surgery? I'm cheap and dont want to waste it! LOL! Just curious cause they dont offer you the option to buy the medifast after surgery! Thanks!
  18. no, dont cancel your surgery! My surgery is wednesday and started my pre op diet today! Today and tomorrow I have to have 5 medifast shakes and at 6pm I drank 1/2 bottle of the liquid laxitive manesium sitrate (clear or green)same tomorrow and then the day before surgery is only Clear liquids...broth, Water, tea, coffee, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles. Just NO red food coloring. I think if you start now you will be fine! Good luck! See you on the other side!
  19. LOL! I have too!!! After my final weight in with the surgeon for my preop apt., I went to my moms this past week and stopped doiing medifast! Just ate EVERYTHING i wanted! Been eating terrible since the 8th! Today is day 1 of my pre op diet, all liquids! My surgery is wednesday! I was gonna go with albany med but they wanted to charge for the orientation and ellis did it for free! Anywho, my surgeon talks to bariatric sugeons all the time from albany med! she said they do alot there, so, you are in good hands! We should get together and keep in touch through our journey, be each others support! I am from Mechanicville and work in Clifton park! Where abouts are you from? Good luck with your surgery! I cant believe mine is in a few days! *deep breath* yesterday I said to myself 'what the heck are you doing? Why are you doing this? what about the labor day party?' So, I think my fears are taking over a bit!
  20. Thank You! That helps put me at ease over this!
  21. Hi guys! Well I am trying to figure out my post surgery diet and my husband had me reduced to tears cause he just doesnt understand! I have been taking pre-natal horse pills, Multivitamins for years. He asked why I cant take those pills after surgery. I told him i wont be able to swallow them and i would like to get chewable Vitamins. He wants me to crush the vitamins and put them in my drink. I told him that it might not dissolve and I might not get all the fluids in and I explained once again that my stomach will be really small and i will only be able to eat a tablespoon at a time. does anyone have any suggestions on what i can say to my husband to get him to understand my point of view/ I REALLY dont want to fight with him or stress out over this. thanks!

  23. Hi fellow sleevers! I am having my surgery this wednesday!!!!! Getting myself prepared for post op! What vitamins are you taking? My BIGGEST concern is thinning hair, as I have PCOS and already started to thin on top : ( I know I will lose more, but, I would like some suggestions on what I should buy for good health after I cross over to the sleeved side!!! Thanks!
  24. good idea!!! thanks for the tip! my surgery is wednesday and i will definately be packing lose pants!!!
  25. a bougie is the size of the tube the surgeon uses as a guide when restricting your new tummy. i am finding that sizes 32 - 40 is the norm. i'm thinking a bigger tube/guide is less restrictive. but smaller than a 32 can cause the risk for strictures. You dont have to ask your dr about it, but, its good to know for curiosity sake! My surgery is wednesday. Good luck!
