  1. I was NPO for 2 1/2 months and yes it was a odd feeling when I first started on liquids, you have to start out by sipping water, very slowly, it will get better in a few days, but sip sip sip, a normal swallow after the NPO will hurt, Goodluck,it will get better.
  2. Need more Fiber in my diet but seems like most good fiber sources have alot of carbs, looking for suggestions. Thanks, Donnie
  3. Had surgery on 12/27/11 weight was around 255, stepped on scale today and it was 199.4 It hasnt been easy but that scale sure makes it better. I think I was in Jr High last time the scale started with a 1 Just had to share. Donnie
  4. My doctor prescribes Nexium right after surgery, I doubt that liquid stuff will do any good.
  5. Im no doctor nor did I stay in a Holiday in lastnight , but if the pollen in Tenn is half as bad as here in Louisiana I would bet on allergys, I say this because I have the same symptoms. Good luck and hope thats all it is.
  6. Same problem here, noone in town would see me, and they were straight asses
  7. Count me in, surgery 12/27 and Ill need all the support I can get,and will be supporting others as much as possible.
  8. jasleeve....I got the starter kit from unjury....the chocalate mixed with 2% milk tastes like chocalte milk, you should really try it. The premier from Cosco or Sams Club is also pretty good. Good luck.
  9. Im in Pineville and will be having the sleeve surgery in Mexico on 12/27
  10. I guess it depends on how bad the erosion is. 90% of my band had eroded into my stomach. I went to Dr.Aceves and he couldnt remove the band and the sleeve at the same time, too much damage and would not of been safe. I had to wait 6 months for the stomach to heal and will be returning to Dr. Aceves next month. I can hardly wait!!!
  11. I will be headed to San Diego on the 26th and surgery on the 27th. Donnie
  12. Yes it does, or atleast it did for me.
  13. Congrats girl. Awsum job!
  14. Glad that hes honest, but I would run from him fast if thats the case.
  15. Hi LilmissDiva Thanks for the reply. I went to Dr. Aceves in Mexico in June to have revision surgery and found out that my lapband had eroded into my stomach. Dr. Aceves removed the band but didnt feel comfortable enough to do the sleeve at the same time. I will be going back towards the end of the year to be sleeved. I havent seen many sleeve patients that had an erosion. Just wondering if theres been many and the results.
  16. Just wondering if anyone has had a eroded lapband to sleeve surgery and what kind of results you have had.
  17. I cant say that I hated the band in the beginning. I actually loved the band and the hope that it gave me to lose weight! Unfortunately the band(s) hated me. Yes I said bands Surgery (1) First band installed in December of 2003.... after several fills with no restiction my Dr. decided I had a leak, Dr. (assumed) it was the port leaking ,so the port was replaced near the end of 2004...surgery (2) a couple days later the port became infected ,port had to be removed for the infection to go away. Surgery (3) after a few weeks of healing from the infection the port was installed in a new location Surgery (4) after several more fills and no restriction my Dr decided it wasnt the port leaking and that it must of been the band itself, so in late 2005 or 06 (hell I forget)....lol the whole band, port, tubing, everything was replaced ..surgery (5) New band worked great for a couple years, I lost weight slowly and steadily to the tune of about 85-90 pounds, then the weight stopped coming off and I could eat way too much and the fills didnt seem to give me any restriction again. Yep, if your thinking another leak ,you are correct, atleast thats what the Dr. thought so he again(assumed) it was the port, so the port was replaced ....surgery (6) after surgery 6 and still no restriction or weightloss I decided the band wasnt for me....trust me I gave it alot of chances Found out about this sleeve surgery and started researching experienced Dr,s and decided a revision with Dr. Aceves was in order. Went to Mexico on 6/17 for surgery on the 18th .During the pre-op testing it was discovered that 90% of the band had eroded into my stomach and the sleeve could not be done at the same time. Band was removed on the 18th ...surgery (7) Presently waiting on the stomach to heal and planning to be sleeved at the end of 2011 or beginning of 2012 . Happy to be free from the band and all the lies, hidden costs and complications associated with it. So after giving a condensed version of my band history and saying that I hated the band and Dr. would be the understatement of the century.
  18. Im doing good girl, hope you are also!
  19. Goodluck with the insurance approval. I was the other way around, insurance paid for the band, unfortunately I had to pay for the removal and for the sleeve when I get it.
  20. Hi Blondie 1007 Sorry to hear about your erosion. I went to Mexico in June to have the revision from lapband to sleeve. I found out my band was 90% eroded into my stomach. I am waiting for the stomach to heal and will be getting the sleeve later this year or early next year if Gods willing You will find alot of happy former bandsters here that have the sleeve. It appears the sleeve is everything we were promised with the band. Did you have and symtoms with your erosion? I had no idea I had eroded until the pre-op testing in Mexico. Goodluck in your research concerning the sleeve. Donnie
  21. Im definately glad to have the band removed! The damage from the band was very bad and yes my decision to get sleeved very well could of saved my life. 6 months seems like a long time, but Im already planning for the surgery later this year! I feel like I have completely healed from the surgery, I feel soooo much better now that the band has been removed.
  22. Just read this sorry. I was quoted 11,200 for removal and sleeve. The charge for removing my band was 4500 and I was reimbursed the difference.
  23. I was not as lucky. I also had my band in 2003,I went to Mexico to one of the best Doctors there to find out that my band was 90% eroded into my stomach, apparently it had been that way for a while. I had no pain and no obvious symptoms, the endo or atleast a barium swallow before surgery is a must! Unfortunately I have to wait 6 months for mt stomach to heal. Hope you have better results than I ,but always be prepared. Donnie H.
