  1. So, September sleevers this is my current prep step. I have been stocking up on Wonton broth (freezing for post op), protein shake samples, "Better than Boullion" base flavors, and this weekend I am planning to cook several different soups/broths to start my freezer stock for post op.. Other items on my grocery list this week include SF jello and popsicles. Gotta start somewhere? What are y'all doing to prep that pantry/fridge/refrigerator? 30 days!
  2. This not only has to do with how people naturally carry their fat stores, but also with how much muscle mass they have lying under all that padding. We've all heard that muscle is denser than fat and therefore 5 lbs of muscle takes up much less space than 5 lbs of fat. Distribution between the two is what makes the difference in a lot of cases, I think. Someone that is 160 in a sz 4 has way more muscle mass than someone at 160 in a sz 10.
  3. They are going to remove your gallbladder? There's your 3 lbs to goal! I'm glad that you figured this out. No more pain!
  4. Over what period of time did this gain occur? Has your sodium intake increased?
  5. I think it's just something that some surgeons suggest to boost initial weight loss, because ketosis does help a lot with fat loss. That being said, I think that if you stick to the suggestion protein first, veggies/fruit second, whole grains third, more often than not you'll not have room for the whole grain carbs.
  6. Yup yup yup. I just installed the chrome extension yesterday because it was seriously getting to me. Ad Block Plus = amazingness.
  7. That's really awesome! It looks like something I would do with my post-it note obsession. I make 100s of lists a month. Your stats are inspiring.
  8. My paperwork says about the size of your thumbnail which I think is a little bit more attainable to me.
  9. Thank you. I think this is exactly what I needed here. I have been working on a lot of things. I have been seeing a therapist for a little over a year to get my head straight and see where my food issues started, but these past 2 months it's been like I've just ignored all that I've learned. I need to have a talk with hubby and then he'll probably start having talks with me. LOL.
  10. Yay! Congrats! I can't wait to hear your date!
  11. If you're in the market for a personal/travel sized blender, check out the Hamilton Beach Single Serve Blender. They have them in most Wal-Mart's right now for the college crowd for only $12. Amazing reviews and they are easy to clean. Also double as a travel cup. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Hamilton-Beach-Single-Serve-Blender-With-Travel-Lid/5924588
  12. Let's not forget that there is no chance at all that you'll be getting in a 1.5 cup serving. LOL. I love lentil soup. I plan to enjoy it very mush. *pun intended*
  13. It seems that for the past 2 months my eating has become incrementally worse. I am craving carbs even worse than before and I would not have thought it possible. The first thing that I do when I get home is open the fridge and eat whatever is easiest. Then an hour later I prepare and eat dinner. About 3 nights a week I make my husband do a fast food run which is WAY more than we normally do that and it's costing us sooo much money. Last night I sent him for a slushy, an ice cream sandwich, a bag of gummy bears and gummy worms. I keep telling myself as I stuff my face "I won't be able to eat like this much longer." Sheeesh... I am at almost 300 lbs now and when I filled out my paperwork for surgery I was at 280 (in May)..... You think that with my 10 day liquid pre-op and some self discipline in the meantime I can get back to 280 by then? 1 month + 1 day to go!
  14. Yay! We'll be in Tijuana at the same time. I'm being sleeved on the 2nd (as is gardendiva) with Dr. Almanza Reyes. Only 1 month + 1 day to go!
  15. I'm pretty sure that is the bowel prep they are referring to. Different surgeons approach it in their own ways but I think the idea is to help with post surgical gas. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  16. You look fabulous. You look like you have taken a bajillion steps forward and I LOVE the dress!
  17. Funny you should ask this. I am still in the phase of convincing my mom that this is the best decision for me. She's not hearing it. One of the things I sent her last month was this article. I've had migraines since I was 14 (not hormonal, cyclical). I have at least 1 a week and I'm talking all out nausea, super light sensitivity lasting 24-72 hours. Nothing helps. I've taken dozens of medications for prevention/treatment/pain management. Some of them worked in the short term.. none in the long term. I am really hoping that the sleeve helps me. http://www.webmd.com/diet/weight-loss-surgery/news/20110328/weight-loss-after-bariatric-surgery-may-ease-migraines
  18. So much luck sending your way!!! Prayers are with you!
  19. Or the surrounding area. I know there has to be some out there. Let's get in touch!
  20. Have all the September Sleevers here checked out the September board under "Monthly VSG Support Groups"?
  21. Neither can I. In fact I can't remember a time when I wished the summer over so fast before. Although with this heat/drought I may have been wishing either way. I'll never know I suppose. One month + One week = One sleeved Heather!
  22. Congrats! Congrats! You're sooooo close!
  23. LOL. You just took Spring Break, Thanksgiving Break, and two weeks for Christmas/New Year. It's all good.
  24. I think I saw one on one of the main boards at some point. We need to get the word out about this "group" so we can fill it with topics and get a name. I'd love to see more sleevers for the 2nd and 5th when I'll be there.
