  1. That is great! Keep up the good work. You are flyin' now!
  2. Melissa, what are you finding that you can drink? Are you able to drink Water again? Just looking for some ideas. I have been diluting my lemonade so it won't be sooo sweet. But that gets boring after a while.
  3. Well, I can only speak from my own experience so here goes: I have eaten/drunk full sugar products from day one. I'm not saying it's the best way to go, who knows? But it's the only way I could go. I cannot tolerate any artificial sweeteners whatsoever. I have tried. Just can't do it. So, I have found myself also looking for things to drink even at 9 weeks out. I don't WANT to drink all that sugar (in my gatorade, lemonade, tea, what have you) but I can't drink plain Water yet. It turns my tummy While my weight loss might not be as super fast as others, I have lost 33 pounds since sugery and 43 pounds since pre-op diet, which I don't think is too shabby It actually could be much more if I would get my fluids in like I should, oh and if I would get all my Protein in (I really try, but I can't drink the shakes so it has to come from food). Oh yeah, and if I would just exercise. I'm gonna get right on all those shortcomings very soon. I am just now getting some energy back. Just want to add that eating/drinking the sugar has not given me cravings one time. I have heard that it can ( but so can artificial ones) so just be aware of that! Good luck with your diet. I know you will do great
  4. That's fantastic!! Now you just have to go out and find yourself some NEW goal pants
  5. iegal and Diva OP is 6 weeks out, do y'all think that is too early for chicken salad? Or did you think she was talking about an actual lettuce-type salad with chicken on it? I thought 6 weeks was plenty of time for mushy/soft foods like chicken/tuna/ham salad. I am scared to try a lettuce salad. Just heard too many horror stories
  6. Way to go! You have done very well and I love the Big Wheel, too!!!
  7. Congrats! Glad you are doing so well
  8. So sorry you were treated so badly. I would look for another surgeon as well. Of course, I don't know the area where you live. You might be limited, so maybe just check around your area. You deserve to be treated with respect. Most of all, don't let anyone tell you that you will fail. I have seen people with many medical problems do very well with WLS and you deserve a chance. Hang in there and you know you can come here to vent when you have to put up with such nonsense.
  9. Haha!! Hilarious! You're right about the gas pains. Just awful. I guess that's better than being constipated, though. At least the pains only last for a bit.
  10. Miralax is a laxative, too. Hey, I'm lactose intolerant, so when I need to go, all I have to do is drink some milk. Presto
  11. They pretty much run that 'special' all the time. That was the price in January when I first called, and it was the price in March when I had my surgery. I think even if it's not on special they will negotiate with you. Nina is great. I think it is amazing that they keep it all in the "family". Gaby and Nina are Yolanda's daughters. Yolanda is the lady you will surrender your hard earned money to when you get there if you don't pay ahead of time.Super nice. Gaby will take care of all your questions AFTER surgery. Like everyone has said already, just do your research and wait until you feel 100% comfortable with your choice before you do anything. I could not have been more sure of anything as I felt with Dr. Aceves. He is truly one of a kind. Also, I never felt scared going out walking in Mexicali. Everyone was great and I would go back in a heartbeat if I needed to.
  12. Great post! I love the way you put things into perspective. Keep up the great work
  13. Wow! That change is unbelievable. Good for you!!! Thanks for sharing your pics. I just love before/after pics. They are such an inspiration
  14. I agree! One or two bites of something sweet and I just feel almost sick. I thought I would miss the sweets, but it doesn't even phase me now to leave them alone.
  15. Way to go, Lara! Slow and steady is right! I have followed your lead and do not get on the scale every day like I did the first few weeks. This has helped my sanity!! Great news about the 14's, too! You will be at goal before you know it. It's gonna be a great summer, huh?
  16. Best wishes to both of you! Looking forward to hearing your stories.
  17. I rode 2 hours back to San Diego 3 days after surgery and once we got to San Diego, we went shopping for about 6 hours at the mall! That tells you how I was feeling. No problems at all and only minimal soreness. Of course everyone is different, just keep your pain meds on board and you should be fine. I preferred to take non-narcotic pain meds after leaving the hospital because I don't like the loopy feeling and can't function very well with it and so I had Toradol and it did the trick without the side effects.
  18. Sorry to hear that! NOT fun at all I tend to eat too fast and I am learning that I better slow it down because I hate that pressure/full feeling in my chest and I'm like you, I hate, hate, hate to get sick. These are lessons I think we learn REALLY fast!!
  19. Good for you for taking control of your health! I, too look forward to following your journey
  20. Some can't tolerate soy products and others can't eat sugar. I have also heard that we don't get dumping syndrome, but everyone is different so who knows? I know that my sister had the same symptoms as dumping when her gallbladder needed to come out. I have experienced the chills, heart racing, nausea and diarrhea after eating anything with milk or a Protein shake. Can't tolerate either. I was lactose intolerant before surgery, but not to this degree. I have read that it slacks up a bit further out from surgery so that is good news. I hope you feel better soon!
  21. Please go ahead and go back to the ER. A blood pressure reading of 150/107 is nothing to take lightly. I hope you get the appt moved up. I would hate to see you wait till the middle of June. I also hope you feel better soon. Good luck to you.
  22. Just wondering how you are doing with that "stuck" feeling after your scopes. Did they help?
  23. OH. MY. GOODNESS. What the heck? You look like an entirely different person. You deserve some serious congrats on a job well done!!
  24. I get your sense of humor and appreciate the laughs!! I don't see anything wrong with wanting to get our health back AND not looking like our skin is melting off our bodies. I personally have many reasons for losing this weight, better health just being one of them. Thanks again for the humor.
