Wow it's been along time since I've been on here! Out of the blue lapbandtalk sent me notifactons for the first time in along time today. Anyhow, 4 years after getting this lapband thing I could honestly say I wish I had gone with the gastric bypass! It seems everyday is different. Somedays I can eat somedays I can't. What the hell right? I just wish this thing was consistent!!!!!!! I guess we all just have to hang in there!!!!!
  3. Hi! I just ran across a post of yours and I wanted to connect with you. I lived in Redlands for 10 years before moving to the High Desert. I am also seeing Dr. Krahn. I have an appointment for the nutritional consult on Tuesday, then they will submit to insurance. Hoping to get a late August surgery date.

I gather you are in the military. Thank you for your service. My dad was in the Navy for 20+ years and my husband is National Guard, so I have an extra appreciation!

    Take care,

    New & Terrified!!!

HI Maria, First off I understand where your coming from about the family not supporting you. Most my family is overweight and they still never supported me. Just do your research and make your own choices. It has been the best choice I have ever made. Everyday life is so much more enjoyable being in better shape (my opinion). But know that this is NOT a full proof plan! you must make that life style change ie eating right & exercise. I have a hard time still controlling my eating habits every gosh dang day! But the band has/is the a damn good tool and will work for you if you let it. I don't think anyone has told me "I took the easy way out" since I had the operation. I don't know how I would deal with that right now. I have lost a great deal of weight and have been able to keep it off and let me tell you there is nothing easy about it!!!!!!!!! I exercise and eat healthy day in and day out. some people just don't understand. To be honest people like that I choose not to be around. All I think they do is stand in the way of reaching your goals and being you/me down. Anyhow just take it from me, This is only a tool and it still requires a whole lot of hard work and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

    Mount Everest?

I am not really to worried about the altitude. I travel for work over seas at least once a month and it has not bothered me yet. I have climbed a few high mountains post band (Fuji, Whitney, Rainer) all under 15,00ft. I mostly am trying to figure this out so for sponsorships. I have been training for almost 2 years now and my goal is to attempt to summit spring of 2011. The only problem is the 100,000 dollars that I am going to need for the climb. From my research it’s best to be the first at something in order to get the big sponsors. Right now the only real thing I have to work with is the fact that I am a lapband patient. Thank you for all the replys.

    Mount Everest?

So I have been trying to figure if anyone with lapband has ever summited Mount Everest. I have been looking for the past week and I am having no luck. Does anyone know? If someone has who was it? Male/female? Age? Nationality? Any info would be a great help. Thanks Dan

HI everyone! I am just stopping by to say hello. Not really a whole lot going on with me in terms of Lapband. I don’t know about you guys but mine is very inconsistent. Sometimes it works great and other times I don’t even know it in there. I have days when I can’t hold down water and other days I could eat an entire plate of shrimp pasta (just an example). Well hope all is doing well!

Hello everyone! I am just dropping in to say hi. I am still in Thailand but am planning on stay in the states for the holidays. I have been doing well with my weight. I know I have put some on but I really do think its ok. I defiantly get better complements from my friends and family then when I was down to 177lbs. Anyhow I am on the same page as a lot of you guys with the sweet problem. I eat them because they go down well. I don’t know how you all feel but when I eat regular food and I get restriction it’s not like I am full! It’s more like being hungry but not being able to eat. I am almost a year and a half out and doing just fine but I have to say if I had to do it over again I would without even thinking twice have the Gastric Bypass! Not because I hear it’s easier but because I heard you get more of a full feeling instead of a feeling of being hungry but not being able to eat without barffing! Suzz: Did you ever try that Ail stuff to help with you sweet problem? If so how did it work for you? Are you still planning on moving to TX? Have you heard from steph? Isub: I am glad you got to go Diving. I am also a diver but I have only been once since my weight loss. When you do come to Thailand and you want to check out some cool diving you should go to the Island of Koh Tao! I have not dived there but have dived at a nearby island and it was really cool! Are you going planning on going to Laos? I went there for the first time a few days ago and it’s really kicked back. I went to the town of Luage Perbang and it was full of hippie backpackers and peaceful locals. And it made for a really good mix of people. it’s cool way to spend a few days.

    Is this thing broken?

OK I am not sure if I am freaking out about nothing or what but what do you guys think? I was banded just over a year ago (June 28 2007) I have done well. Still a few up’s and down’s but I am really happy with my results! Last night I was getting a massage and the girl started to press just below my rib cage (guts) right in the center. I felt a really strange feeling and ask her not to do that. About 1min after I felt that strange feeling and I started to get flu like symptoms. (my bones and joints start to act like they were weak, I got super sleepy, I even got a head ache!) The pain was not to to bad so on my walk home I stopped to get something to eat and drink. I had 3 small cocktails, and I ordered some fried rice. Everything went down fine with no problems. During my stay at the restaurant my symptoms increased so I quickly left to go home. By the time I was home (about 5mins) I was sick as a dog. I dropped to my knees and vomited the little bit I had for dinner and I felt better (for about an hour) Then I repeated the same every hour till now. The vomiting stop (because nothing left to come up) but now I just give the worst, most painful dry heave known to man. It does not feel like vomiting because something stuck or band related. It feels more like vomiting used to Pre band. I have not eaten since because of fear but I have been able to take water down. I called my doc and talked to one of the office people (a good friend) and she is going to talk to my doctor about it and order me an upper GI. The problem is I am only home about 2 days a month because of work and my lifestyle (traveling) It looks like the upper GI is going to be sept 22. Has anyone heard of a band slipping of braking due to a physical accident? Does any of this sound like something you’ve heard before. I am keeping my finger crossed hoping it’s the flu! I think this is the first time someone ever hoped for a flu. Anyhow any INFO you guys could give to me would be a big help. Thanks.

Hello everyone! Sorry about not checking in the last few months but I have been really busy the last few months. I quit going on LBT at work because someone on the boat has been looking at all the sites people have been on and I don’t want anyone at work to know about my band. I went to Asia in May and I have only been back to work and move out of my house. I am now residing in Thailand for the most part. I really enjoy it out here and I plan on staying for a least a few more months. I am not really losing any weight but on the other hand I have not gained in along time either. I got within just 2 lbs of my goal in Jan then I gain some weight back. Right not I am right around 185-190lbs which is about 10-15 lbs more than my goal but I also get a lot of better feedback about my looks than I did before the weight gain. I have not really been exercising much the last few months because of an injury I got a few months back. Anyhow I just wanted to say Hi to everyone and sorry but I have not really looked at the past posts because I think it will talk me 3 weeks just to get caught up. Talk to you all later and I hope all is well. Insub: are you planning on visit Asia at all? Capt Dan

It’s been a while since I last posted anything, Our internet on my boat was down for almost 2 weeks so I went like almost a month with out looking and it took me at least a week to read all the posts I missed. But anyhow it sounds like everyone is doing well. I am still having a hard time maintain weight. It seems I go up a few and I go down a few. But It’s really hard to keep it 3-4lbs on either side. This band has a mind of it’s own. Sometimes I could eat a ton of food and other days I have a hard time eating .25 cup of tuna. I now know what your all talking about with the salad. I cant get a bite down with out feeling the pressure in the chest. Another thing that don’t really want to go down well is V8 witch is strange because it’s a liquid. But for the most part I feel pretty well with my last fill. I am going in a few weeks to see my doc just to check in and make sure I am on track. Well anyway I better get going I have a flight to catch in LA. I am going backpacking around south east Asia for a few weeks. I am very excited! I will post some pics when I get back. Happy Mothers Day to all you mothers out there. Capt Dan
