Mount Everest?

Recommended Posts

So I have been trying to figure if anyone with lapband has ever summited Mount Everest. I have been looking for the past week and I am having no luck. Does anyone know? If someone has who was it? Male/female? Age? Nationality? Any info would be a great help. Thanks

Dan

I'm gonna take a guess and say no? Just a guess.

Sounds like you're setting this as your goal? If so way to go!

Well, flying apparently, can affect the band and planes are pressurized so I can only imagine that someone attempting Everest had best be unfilled. Wouldn't you think?

I didn't actually climb Mount Everest, but I hiked Rocky Mountain National Park much better two years after the lapband than before.

In 2007, we were there for the first time. I was at my highest weight ever and thought I was going to die. I made up my mind during that trip to change my life. It's been a mountain climb ever since but I went back to that same place 2 years later 100lbs lighter and in much better health.

My family and I have just gotten back from a week at Estes Park, Co. Loved it!! We hiked all over the park and to hidden lakes and waterfalls and I was in the lead for most of our hikes. Didn't have a problem. Next time we go out I would like to summit some of the smaller mountains, and eventually try Longs Peak, but for now I am pround of what I accomplished. The only thing different I noticed was I wasn't as hungry and I had to force myself to eat.

I am not really to worried about the altitude. I travel for work over seas at least once a month and it has not bothered me yet. I have climbed a few high mountains post band (Fuji, Whitney, Rainer) all under 15,00ft.

I mostly am trying to figure this out so for sponsorships. I have been training for almost 2 years now and my goal is to attempt to summit spring of 2011. The only problem is the 100,000 dollars that I am going to need for the climb. From my research it’s best to be the first at something in order to get the big sponsors. Right now the only real thing I have to work with is the fact that I am a lapband patient. Thank you for all the replys.

In all seriousness, I wish you the BEST of luck. What an amazing accomplishment. I get sympathy exhaustion just watching documentaries on that climb!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
