  1. Congrats! Just think how great it will be when you can start adding in exercise! I can't wait for mine!
  2. When it is/was at the worst for me it really felt like my foot was being stabbed. I always half expected my shoe to be bloody when I took it off it hurt so bad I would figure this much pain something must be coming out of the foot. Ugh nasty business that plantar!!
  3. Congrats and good luck!! Welcome to the September Sleevers Club
  4. Hi there. I suffer from this very often. Often when I first wake up or get up from sitting for an extended time my first few steps are excruciating  until it stretches back out. I recommend doing lots of stretching. These stretches are great for it: Plantar Fasciitis Stretching Exercises I stretch it out before I go to bed and when I do I can walk soooo much easier the next morning. Also icing it in the evening if your sitting around watching TV roll a frozen Water bottle under it. And they also say wearing flip flops and other unsupported shoes makes it much worse. I really hope mine goes away after I'm sleeved. I've had it off on for years. Hope this helps.
  5. I just got back from surgical consult and have an official date set....September 21st I will be sleeved by Dr. Lee Wei-Jei here in Taipei, Taiwan! :confused1: Nervous, excited, scared, worried, happy all at the same time!
  6. Congrats on a job well done! Keep up that great work!
  7. Another website I have used is Free Diet Plans at SparkPeople It has TONS of food info pre-programmed in. Down to different brands of the same type of food. Makes it quick and easy and you can also add items to your personal data base (maybe something you cook often at home...just add in the nutrition info once). Also let's you track weight, exercise and calories burned from exercise for your weight, etc etc etc.
  8. Oh this makes me excited! I hope I start sleeping better post-op!! I sometimes get up several times a night- it's so annoying. I will wake up once and go to the bathroom. Take a small sip of water then go back to bed. I will wake up 2 hours later having to pee as if I drank the Hoover Damn....what the heck?! :cursing:Here's to hoping my sleeve will help me sleep better!:thumbup1:
  9. Remember to always weigh yourself around the same time everyday. Since bodies change so much throughout the day and such. (least this is what I have always been told). I think once a week is a good. Make it a Sunday ritual or something like that- if The Biggest Loser were on where I live I would weigh in with them every week like an at home contestant. Haha.
  10. Hello from one newbie to another! I'm looking at September surgery date. I know how you feel about being excited, nervous and all that in one thought! Good luck and keep us posted on your journey! :thumbup1:)
  11. I say tell him the truth now. I think it's easier then explaining later when a) your drinking your food and shrinking faster then a person who had "lady surgery". And if he likes you know I don't see why he wouldn't like you after...there will just be less of you. :tongue_smilie: That's what I tell my boyfriend (of 3 yrs) who seems nervous about me having this surgery (he questions how safe it is to remove 85% of ones stomach forever). I just tell him it will make me healthier in the long run so we have more time to spend together and there will just be less of me to nag at him. :lol0:
  12. I've told my boss and been very open about it with my co-workers (most of which are super mega "omg eat a damn cookie" skinny Taiwanese folks) b/c I'm not good at coming up with a cover story. Haha. And I don't want to feel ashamed anymore or at all. They can't relate to me at all but it's ok. But on the time off issue my surgeon told me one week would be plenty of time (this made me happy...I don't want to use up all my vacation time sitting at home/the hospital haha). I'm a teacher and am on my feet most of the day but I just told my boss she may see me sitting down more in the classroom a little bit more when I come back post op. But in the end you gotta take off what you feel is best for you and your body. If your a slow healer or have a strenuous job go ahead and take the extra time:thumbup1:
  13. I agree with ChiGirl. As soon as you get on snag a flight attendant and tell them you would like a seat extender and your seat number. I'm around 350 and I was able to buckle without but it was sooooooo uncomfortable. I moved to Taiwan about a year ago and it was the first time I broke down and asked for it (20 hours on a plane I was not having the belt dig into my sides for that long). I just tried to seem confident like it wasn't no thing. And definitely get a seat where the arm rest goes up. Then it's like your sitting on a couch with your husband and its so much more comfortable! Good luck with your trip and surgery! This will be the last uncomfortable flight! I'm so looking forward to fitting in the seat easily when I fly back to America to visit!
  14. Oh and I was looking at the website for those Davinci (and Torini) sugar free syrups to add to protein shakes and they some fun flavors like pumpkin pie, peppermint paddy and gingerbread- might make the post surgery holiday season better. While everyone else gorges on pumpkin pie and cookies I have a gingerbread protein shake
  15. Thanks so much for this blog! I am a total newbie. My surgery will be end of September and I really enjoyed your post on how to prep the kitchen and what kitchen things to buy. The ice cube tray is a great idea! I'm not looking forward to the mushie phase but I've been reading recipes on here and your blog that don't make it seem half bad! Thanks again!
  16. Hello! I am new here and officially began my sleeve journey today with my consult with my surgeon. I am living and working in Taipei, Taiwan so I am having my surgery done here (cheaper then in the US too). Looking at a late August or anytime in September surgery date (no red tape of 6 months proven failed attempts or classes here....National Health Care FTW!) As this becomes a reality I do feel some nerves setting in that "are you sure you are ready for this" feeling but I know this is my only way to healthier and happier me!
