  1. Those are AWESOME!!!! Need some for my classroom! I love the GInat Microbes they sell too- Giant common cold, plague, etc... SO FUN! :thumbup1:
  2. I don't think they let you keep body parts anymore. I think back in the day they would- like throw it in a jar with formaldehyde and say have fun. When I had my wisdom teeth out I wanted to keep them and they said NO. I was sad. They are my teeth and I was paying them to take them- seemed only fair I could get to see them. I guess it's a "bio hazard" or something. Bio hazard...bio schmazard I say. :scared0: P.S. I don't think your weird at all. When I had a colonoscopy I kept demanding pictures of it as they were putting me under. I think I said something like "If you aren't going to take me to dinner before sticking a camera up my ass at least send me a picture of it!"....2 weeks later I got a big envelope with pictures of my colon in the mail from them! I hope to see my stomach when it comes out...at least a picture of it if they have already disposed of it....I want to say Good Bye to the lil fella.
  3. Another Heavy Weight here! Around 350 right now (maybe into the 340's....haven't weighed in little bit). Hope to lose 150+ when all is said and done. If I got to see the scale be below 200 I would jump for joy and yell it from the roof tops!:confused1:
  4. Wow I am really sorry to hear about all of these jealous/negative people out there. It makes me really sad that people can't see we are trying to better our lives. It's not personal against them. Everyone has got to do for them what they got to do for them. Reading this thread makes me feel so lucky. My Mom is all for my surgery- she was the one who initially mentioned it to me and got me seriously looking into (I had always thought about it but never thought it could ever happen). The most unsupportive people are my boyfriends parents and they just seem to think I'm going to die on the operating table or something (so not so much against the sleeve per say):confused1: So glad we have this awesome forum to share, ask and rant to each other! :001_wub:
  5. HAPPY SEPTEMBER to us September Sleevers!!!! :thumbup1: Good luck to all as you a)start pre-op diet (I feel kind of bad and slightly concerned my surgeon told me I didn't need to do one...:huh0:) or get your sleeve!!! See you all on the losers bench come October!!
  6. Thanks for the ideas guys! I have tried telling him we will save money on our food budget since I will eat so little. That we can just order one dish. I will have to remind him how we are saving for a REAL vacation. Less money spent eating out = more $$$$ towards vacation!
  7. HI! My surgery is in 20 days now. YAY! So my boyfriend (who is stick thin...I actually just calculated his BMI and he comes in just in the underweight category) is supportive of my surgery (I don't think he fully understands it..as in why and how I won't starve to death) but he is supportive. However he seems to have this idea stuck in his head that we will never be able to go out to eat again. I have tried to tell him many times we can still go out that I just have to make healthier choices and won't be able to eat as much. He interrupts this as I will eat two bites be full and just sit there and wait for him to finish his food and be bored. I tell him as long as we are hanging out I don't care and that I have to eat slow and can't inhale my food. Despite eating a few bites he still may be be waiting for ME to finish. Anyone have any nuggets of wisdom I can share with him to assure him we can still go out to eat and all that jazz? Thanks!:001_cool:
  8. Insurance must be the greatest scam of all time! :001_cool: Sorry to hear about your "sleep apnea" hope all goes well with the rest of your insurance approval process! I feel so very grateful my National Health Insurance here in Taiwan does not have the 4,000 hoops to jump thru like back home.
  9. oh cool! I just joined up. user name is StaySeaLuds
  10. I'm in the same "secretly worried I will be the 1 person this doesn't work for" boat. But we gotta believe. Look at all the amazing success stories and pictures on this forum! Good luck with your surgery and the road to your new life!:001_smile:
  11. At least the hospital is safe...that's a plus. Anyways GOOD LUCK with your surgery!!!:001_smile:
  12. I love these posts! They get me so excited for my sleeve! :tongue_smilie:
  13. Looking great! Videos and photos like this are great inspiration! Thanks!
  14. Good luck!!!!:tongue_smilie:
  15. Even being pre-surgery and can hold my fair share of food I feel gross when I watch Man vs Food. I can't imagine stuffing that much inside your body. I don't know how the host of that show doesn't have a heart attack each episode.
  16. I'm very open about it. I'll tell just about anyone who wants to know about it. I'm not a good "liar" and don't like having to keep up a jig about why I will be rapidly shrinking. I just ask that if folks have negative comments on it to just please keep it to themselves. I don't need any negativity while I am trying to change my life around for the better.
  17. HI I don't have IBS but I do have colitis (which is offers some of the awesome symptoms of IBS). When I had my consult with my surgeon I mentioned the colitis to him to see if it would be an issue with surgery either before, during, after. He basically told me it had no bearing the surgery only affected my stomach not the lower bits. I would think that the VSG would actually help with IBS....I am hoping it helps clear up my colitis issues. Being forced to eat healthy things should help the intestines out a bit. My gastrotoligist (spelling?!) had me cut down on fatty foods while they were trying to diagnose what exactly was wrong with me and said that those heavy fats are really hard on the intestines and cause a lot of the "upset stomach" issues. Don't know if that's any useful info but it's my 2 cents.
  18. Determined1, I know how you feel! My date is Sept 21st. I've made my mental plan for August to be my Farwell to food (now I'm not going out and gorging everyday so people don't scold me i'm eating as normal but not beating myself up over having pizza, etc..) and making September 1st be the day I start to ween myself off things and start prepping for food post sleeve. My surgeon said I don't need to do a pre op diet but I think I will put myself on one to start getting ready.
  19. Thanks for the link!!
  20. GOOD LUCK! I'm sure you will do great! I still have almost a month till my sleeve and I have the same worries when I'm sitting around thinking about it. I also worry I will be the one person this surgery doesn't work for somehow. :crying:
  21. Here is my 2 cents.... I also began thinking I wanted The Band but after talking to some folks and doing more reading up on it I decided it seemed like a hassle that probably wouldn't give me the results I need. If you get The Band then decide later you want to be sleeved you will probably end up shelling out more money in the long run to go thru 2 self pay surgeries. Defiantly talk to your surgeon about your thoughts on the Sleeve vs Band and get his input for what he/she thinks would work best for your body. With my weight my surgeon seemed very happy when I said immediately I wanted VSG not Band- he must have felt relieved to have been spared trying to convince me VSG was better for my needs. In the end go with your gut *no pun intended* Good luck with your decision!
  22. All I can is AMAZING!!!!! Go you and thanks for all of your helpful and positive posts!!
  23. Congrats on your Sleeve-iversary! Posts like this remind me why I am going to do this and help push my fears to the side.
