Food Servers seemed annoyed
So sorry about the rude comments to you! I also have found that waitstaff seem worried about the amount I eat. Here's my new trick....if I order my own meal, I ask for a to go container when the food is served. I put most of the meal in the box and the waitstaff have no idea how much or how little I have eaten!

How long did it take to hear the descision from your insurance?
I have UHC and was approved in 2 days. I had heard they were fast and I called UHC on my own and they gave me the greats news! I then called my surgeon's office. Good luck with your approval!

Anyone else experiencing heartburn/reflux?
My heartburn felt constant as well! I started taking Prilosec about 4 weeks out and I feel 100% better. I was lucky that it started working the first day even though the package says it can take several days. Check with your doctor and I hope you feel more comfortable soon!

17 Days Post Op - Energy Levels
My energy level was low during the first 4-5 weeks, especially late afternoon to early evening. Even though you are doing all of the right things, your body is still recovering from surgery. I started feeling an abundance of energy during week 6. I hope it continues!

Stalling so soon????
This thread is so helpful because I am 5 weeks post op in what I will call my second stall. The first one was at 3 weeks. I've heard that an official stall is 14+ days but seeing the scale move every day right after surgery was quite fun! I thrive on results but I think I might try to weigh only once a week and see if I can stop stressing over the numbers. This will be a challenge for me! I find it helpful to take measurements once a week. Yesterday even though the darn scale didn't move, I still lost 3 1/2 inches. So I am shrinking! :thumbup1: It's funny how everyone's experiences are so different but yet the same in many ways. It's comforting to find that others are going through some of the same challenges.

A special gift
Great ideas! The journal is good for recording success and I'll bet the girls could show him some extra attention by helping him with small things. There were also times after surgery when I just wanted to be alone and rest. My 11 year-old daughter "measures" my waist by throwing her arms around me to give me a big hug. It's become a ritual and she always says, "Yep! You are getting smaller! I'm proud of you Mom!" It's truly better than any success I see on the scale.

United Healthcare????
I have UHC and was approved in 2 days. I did not have to do a supervised diet and was on the surgery schedule a few weeks after approval. I'm about 5 weeks post op and UHC has already paid 90% of the costs. Good luck to everyone who is waiting for approval!! Once you receive approval everything starts falling into place very quickly!

How long did you have to miss work?
I only took one week off but looking back I wish I had taken 2 weeks. I was tired and it would have been good to have had more rest before returning to work.

Nausea heighten by smells
I am experiencing the same thing! When I need to eat something I really have to give it some thought because one day a certain food will sound wonderful and the next day it sounds awful. I too can relate to my first pregnancy when certain foods or smells could send me over the edge! Hey Sleeve Longtimers! Does this subside eventually?

Which was worse getting the sleeve or having a c-section?
My C-section was much more painful than the sleeve. I'm 4 weeks post op today and you can barely see the scars.

Exercise...? When did your doc clear you for it?
My doctor cleared me after 1 week. From now until my 2 month check up he wants me doing at least 30 minutes of card 5 days a week plus 10000 steps daily. Oh and the steps taken during card do not count towards my 10000 steps! I was surprised that I can lift weights but he said to listen to my body and don't do anything if it hurts. I'm 15 days post op and I've been on the eliptical and lifting weights at the gym. Of course everyone should follow their own doctors orders.

When do the Gas Pains Start?
I must have been lucky as well! Almost no gas pain but I did do a lot of walking. For the first 3 days I could feel some gurgling but no real pain.

August Sleeves!!
Good luck to all of the remaining August Sleevers! Thoughts, prayers and best wishes to all of you! Be confident in your decision and the gift you are giving yourselves. I'm 4 days post op and I'm feeling stronger every day. Tonight I took my 11 year old school shopping at the mall. I gave her a 2 store limit but I can't even believe I'm able to do that yet! I bought a SilveRado charm bracelet today and I'm going to add a charm for every 10 pounds lost. Looking forward to a full bracelet!

All of a sudden, I'm a wimp?
Tiff, My husband is still sitting while watching me lift 55 pounds of dog food! But my surgery was 8/17/10 so we will see if there are changes ahead. I can't even imagine him treating me as if I were fragile! It sounds like there has been several changes in your lives and as long as you are communicating your thoughts and feelings you are on the right track. It may take a little while for the adjustments to feel just right.

What are you telling work?
Most think I'm out on vacation but I've told a few I am having surgery. Most have not asked what kind of surgery and wished me well. For the 2 that did, I just said female stuff and it immediately stopped them from asking more questions!

Tomorrow is Sleeve Day!
Hello all and thanks for the well wishes! The surgery went well and I was released from the hospital last night. The hardest part for me was no liquids the day of the surgery. Yesterday they ran a GI test and watched the liquids move through my new stomach and confimed there were no leaks. Today I'm finding I still need pain medication to make me feel comfortable. I'm just walking and sipping liquids and I don't feel hungry one bit! Tip: A few drops of peppermint oil on a paper towel helped me with nausea. My doctor had recommended it and I'm glad I had it. Dr. Garth Davis was my surgeon and he has a very helpful book called, The Expert's Guide to Weight Loss Surgery. @TNT- my consultation was June 10th, insurance approval on June 28th and the surgery schedule was pretty full so my surgery date was August 17th. It seemed like a long time to wait for a surgery date but I will say it helped me mentally prepare!
