  1. Me too for thursday! On a week of pre op liquids and Optifast.... nightmare as we have friends here at the moment!! But very proud of myself for sticking to it. I have my bag ready to start packing as i think of things... so probably tomorrow!! I'm updating my Ipod as I type to make sure I have something to walk down the corridor with! Good luck everyone! Kathy
  2. I've been doing 40 lengths a day for about 2 weeks now.. and can't wait to get back in after my surgery. Kathy
  3. You're looking fab - thanks for posting the pics and your routine! You've given us all hope!! Kathy
  4. From one Kathy to another.....lol Do you know about your pre op diet yet and how long it is? In 3 days I've lost 4.5lbs on mine which runs for a week... so hopefully maybe the fact you can't take your anti inflammatories will be helped by a quick weightloss during your pre op stage and aiding your joints. The time will pass quick - i remember when i got my date and it seemed ages away due to travel plans, but now its so close!! Good luck Kathy
  5. Kathy - I was allowed to take Paracetamol..... I get cramps with my monthly cycle, often leading to intense nausea... but Ibuprofen sorts this for me. But I figured for the result it was worth a day of pain to me. Hope you sort your meds - maybe there is something else which would be safe that you can take? Kathy
  6. Thanks Don. We have an evening out planned (well sort of but I can get out of it) a week after my surgery... so not sure if I'll be able to sit for say 3 hours to enjoy it.... I've also managed to put off having any house guests (the draw of living in Spain with the warm weather and a pool usually brings them over in the summer!!) until 3 weeks out, and then its my best friend who knows about the surgery. I'm glad you're recovering well - enjoy being at home... I know I hate being in hospital so will look forward to returning home next weekend after the event! Good luck with your recovery Kathy
  7. HI Nancy Sounds like you're well into the research part of the journey. Its always worth seeing at least 2 or 3 surgeons for different opinions....as he hasn't done that many he may not favour them yet as he might be more comfortable with the RNY and band. As a self pay you have a lot more choice than others, so enjoy your time deciding. Its an important decision to make, but I'm sure you'll be ok with it, Keep us informed Kathy
  8. I was wondering how you all felt at various stages of your recovery. At one week....one month etc..... what were you able to do physically....? Kathy
  9. I took a list of mine with me, and checked with my Dr - he allowed everything except anti inflammatories and aspirin. I'm on an anti histamine, asthma inhaler, and nasalex. But do check with your Dr, as things like the contraceptive pill are usually not allowed either, but better safe than sorry! Kathy
  10. I hope it went well for you - do let us know how you got on. Kathy
  11. Figuring no news is good news and you've been sleeved - I hope all is going well. Post when you can. Kathy
  12. Great news!! - well done...good luck with the last 28. Kathy
  13. Lee and Katt - I can identify with both of you - I lost my Mother last year to Alzheimers. The tragic illness took her from us years before she was actually gone. My only saving grace is that I was adopted, but with a sister and brothers not adopted and older than me I understand your concerns. I think the live your life motto is the best one.... no one knows what will happen tomorrow....so you make your decisions based on the information you have and hope for the best. Good luck
  14. The countdown begins! COngrats!!
  15. Great weight loss result - well done! Keep up the good work.
  16. With such a surgery I think you're entitled to be a little manic!! I'm in for my 32f next week..... and starting to get the butterflies already!! Good luck
  17. Good luck on your decision.... like you I realised I don't think anything else will work for me.... Good luck on the 23rd - keep us informed. Kathy
  18. Its a great place isn't it!! Do keep posting and let us know how you get on. Kathy
  19. Been there!! I was like that a month ago on the build up to my 1 week pre op diet.....doing the familiar saying goodbye to certain foods despite the fact I know I will be able to eat the majority of them afterwards eventually! I am on day 3 of pre op diet now.... liquids and protein drinks only. I have been out as we have friends staying and went out for lunch yesterday, and also prepared them a couple of meals. I am finding it easier than I thought I would, but maybe in a couple of days will change my mind on that one!! But I realise that this can shift maybe 7-10lbs (I have lost 4.5lbs already) and give me a head start and also put my body in a better place for surgery, both weight wise and shrinking the liver as well. Be strong......this is the hardest time as you still want to eat, at least afterwards we won't be able to!! Kathy
  20. Thanks for the tips - I'll check them out. I did find Fitnesspal, but you have to be online to update, and we don't have Wifi at home, so updating is a fiddle, but will compare and see what they are like. Kathy
  21. Fab photos - well done Tiff - you're such an inspiration to us all with everything you have been thru... thanks! Kathy
  22. Great news - well done Kathy
