surgery in less than 24 hours!
Lol - think you may need more than just that! As well as what the others have posted I have on mine stuff like face, hand and body cream, as I get really anxious when my skin dries out - which usually with air con'd rooms it does, so that will help me relax a bit more. Why not start a good book before you go in, so you're already into it and don't have to concentrate too much.... If you're having to travel to your Dr then don't forget a wheelie bag or case, to make sure you don't have to carry anything. Good luck Kathy

I am sleeved and feeling pretty good
Blimey it does sound like you had a rough time.. must have been really scary for you, but I am SO glad its turned out ok and you are home now. Keep an eye on everything and fingers crossed thats the end of your issues and its all sweet from here. Fab weightloss too... you must be well happy with that side of things. Take care Kathy

Nervous
I wish you luck.... I'm not telling mine as I really don't need him to worry - he's 80, and will do so!! I doubt I will tell him after either, but as I live abroad, I don't see him that often so can pretend my diet has gone very well!! I think all you can do is go armed with all the information possible to prove you have done your research - he gave you the gift of life, and you are now giving yourself a second chance. I don't know what you weigh, but if you have battled all your life like most of us, yoyoing around various diets then he has witnessed your dilemma...and although it is only right for him to be scared and worried, he should see thru that and into the future to support you too. Good luck - let us know how you get on Kathy

12 days out & loving it
Fantastic result - Well done. I'm also using this as a support group - and with surgery in just over 2 weeks time I think I will need it! LOL!! I'm getting used to the walking now, so it'll come as second nature post op. Keep up the good work Kathy

New and have questions
What a fabulous wedding present!! I wish you luck with both....don't forget if the surgery is before the wedding you'll have to alter your dress too!!! Kathy

Good result - well done. Keep up the good work Kathy

Optifast - pre and post op
I have my pre and post op diets and both of them require Optifast - which seems to go against all the low carb theorys. I've not been given an aim for Protein, carbs or calories post op, but what they have suggested doesn't cover the 'normal' standard of protein of 60/70g. Although some of it can be made up by adding protein into Soups I doubt I can get it up to the 'normal' recommended amounts, and am worried about hair loss (as I am thinning on the front anyway!!). I just wondered if anyone else is on Optifast and what results they had? Kathy

Was your gall bladder removed?
Hi Boredoncemore, Do you mean issues as in weight stalling?
-
June Surgery anyone?
Good luck to you all... the June group is growing in numbers......and soon we'll decrease as we get sleeved.....keep posting and let us know how you get on. I have 1 week pre op diet to do, so starting on 3rd June....so 1 week of normality left for me!! Kathy
-
Confused ????
Are you asking in general or for insurance? My surgeon likes BMi of 35 or over for the sleeve so I just qualify. Kathy
-
Was your gall bladder removed?
I'm just wondering how many of you post op sleevers had your gall bladder removed during surgery? Mu surgeon said he would look at mine and remove if needed, but thinks it unlikely (which I would prefer - to keep it that is!). Kathy

Update on me 9.5 months out
Tennjenn - thanks so much for sharing and congratulations on being below target. Your story rang a particular bell with me as we're about the same starting BMI, and from the sound of it our habits are very similar, so theres a few tips in it for me when I get sleeved in a couple of weeks. Do keep us informed how you get on - are you looking to loose more or maintain now? Kathy

Alamanza in June

I'm new to the board
Hi and welcome I think your concerns are ones we all go thru... but I am hoping that the end result will be the reward for it all. No one will judge you for what you put... we're all here for the same reason - support, so guaranteed what your feeling someone else out there is feeling too. Good luck Kathy
-
Because of you.....
Hi and welcome I'm sure you'll find all the support you need here... I know my decision was made so much easier by the wealth of information on here from other sleevers. Good luck with your loan.. hope if comes thru quick for you Kathy

Scheduled July 19th
Congrats on being a June sleever!! Fingers crossed your boss doesn't make this too hard for you - you need all your energy to concentrate on the op and the mental issues that come with it, so the less stress in the rest of your life the better. Good luck Kathy

Deedee - so sorry to hear you're still in hospital, and about the leak. I really hope they get it sorted soon and that you'll be home with your family. Kathy

protein?
I've read quite a bit and was all prepared for the post op thing with my Protein Shakes etc....but today at my pre op tests when I got my diets the only time I would be comsuming even 60g is in the pre op stage, the post op stages say only 2 shakes a day (they have me on Optifast which is also high carb.....and about 17g Protein per shake.) I asked about Protein Drinks and was told these would give me everything I required. So what do I do... just go with their plan and hope I keep my hair??!!! Or add in a very low carb or carb free Protein Drink as well? Hubby seems to think I should stick to their plan...... but I can admit I am a little scared! Any recommendations Tiff? Kathy

June Surgery anyone?
Congrats to you all.... I have just got back from my pre op tests, all went well, see the Dr next on 3 June, for all the results. Also talked to dietitian and got pre and post op diets. Kathy

Just beginning,
Hiya Congrats on your surgery and the weight loss - I have 3 weeks to wait, and really wish I could fast forward them now. Keep up the good work - sounds like you might be slowing down a little but I know the lower BMI/less weight to loose peeps loose a bit slower anyway... but slow is good too..... so good luck - keep us informed. Kathy

this isn't real to me
I get that too..... I know in theory from this board, and think I have my head round it... but think reality will only actually kick in post op - when theres no going back (not that I'd want to!!). For me its like something I have always wanted but never dreamed I could have.... so almost the unthinkable.... to be slim!!!
