    8 Days Out

Good for you. Keep sipping, keep walking. p.s. I am so glad you are going low-carb. I wish I had really grasped that earlier in my journey (Its not too late, but I had a 23 day stall that broke by going low carb)

    waiting...

Praying for a quick recovery
  9. Ryans girl! We are here to support you. During my stall I did gain some pounds 2.1 pounds to be precise. So I kept floating between 177 and 179.1, and this was two weeks after my surgery. My stall also lasted 23 days, and it was hellish. We will certainly support you if you decide to go the DS route, but in the meantime, consider going back to the very basics- even for just a few days. Reduce the carbs, drink Water, get your Protein in, don't cut back on the calories-but watch those numbers, and switch up the exercise. I also had a sneaking suspicion that I may be insulin resistant. I will be seeing my physician in a week, but in the meantime, I am taking some cinnamon pills to control my blood sugar. I am sure you are doing the very best you can, and we are cheering you on

    The stall is over!!!

I think I broke the record for the longest stall ever. I lost count, but we were almost 23 days and counting. But the scale moved... finally!!! One thing I did differently was cut back on my carbs and increasing my protein. I don't know if it was because of this, or if my body just quit holding on to the weight, but either way, I am just happy the scale finally moved. I have also started dancing classes and really enjoy it. Makes working out a lot less stressful.
  11. The stall is over. It must have been the carbs. I am cutting back a lot on the carbs, and home this does the trick.

  12. Love it. And love a wrap dress. The good thing with them is you can wear them through a few different sizes- and it will still fit OK.
  13. I am on a self-impossed clothing shopping ban until the summer, but I compulsively 'fake-shop-online' and think about all the lovely clothes I am going to buy this summer. :wink0: I did go shopping with a girlfriend recently, she wanted my input, and I bought a size 10 dress that was cut small. It was very summer-y, but I knew I could not find it anywhere else. (It was at Loehmanns). I have also saved my birthday dress from last year when I was at my skinniest. I want to wear that soon as well. All my other cute clothes are going to the consignment store once I overgrow them, and the ones that are not 'brand names' will go to my twice a year swap with my girlfriends.

so i told two people today...

CU Next Tuesday.... hhahahahaha! I love it!!! p.s. Next time I get in a fight with a 'c u next tuesday' I will be calling on the double Tiffany team :wink0: Ironically, I think the people who I really do not want to tell about my surgery, are all overweight. The two friends that I have told are skinny (one has struggled with weight, but works out like a maniac to stay in the great shape she is) And both of them were beyond supportive. One of them ordered a plate for us to share when we went out with friends, so as not to cause any awkwardness. Unfortunately, I think my 'big girl club of friends' may not be as supportive. Not that they are bad people, they are lovely, but the judgment will follow.

    Chobani Greek Yogurt

I love the chobani, but love OIKOS even more. However, I have to save those for 'special occasions'. I switched to Fage, and have been mixing it with the crystal light sugar free iced tea to go powder. You only need half a pack, and at a WHOOPING 2.5 calories with no carbs and no sugar, I am a happy camper.

To tell or not to tell???

Deedee... I am still struggling with whether or not I want to tell anyone, for the exact reasons you have outlined. The two people (plus fiance) who know are incredibly supportive, but like you said- I certainly do not want to get 'policed'. A part of me is also fearful- what if it does not work? What if I fail in this like I have other times? I appreciate your thoughts and encouragement that you share through those moments.

    So Discouraged....

Rlocke- crossing fingers for you. I would be happy to share my food diary with you- PM me. Some carbs like to 'sneak in' so be sure to log. You will do fine darling.

ZUMBA- where have you been all my life????

Ash- THANK YOU..... I think you are the one who was raving about Zumba. I really like it. So fun. My friend had a baby shower a few months ago, and her mother hired a belly dancer to teach us how to dance. It was like a crazy core workout, but super fun. Tiffy, I am going to check out the 'shimmy' class. So, I did another dance class today called YE-LE! I don't know if it something mainstream, or if the instructor made it up, but lots of dancing etc. It kicked my butt!!! But two things kept me going: 1. This woman who was about 65 years in INSANELY INCREDIBLE shape, was totally getting me motivated 2. The instructor was this HOT, STEAMY, RIDICULOUSLY BEAUTIFUL guy with an accent. Everything he said sounded 'vulgar'! It had me laughing and gasping at the same time. He was borderline slimy, but I am sure we were all mesmerized! LOL! Disclaimer: I am happily partnered with a loving fiance and looking forward to getting married to him

    Bikini waxing

I get my eyebrows waxed occasionally, but have resorted to getting them threaded instead- cleaner and lasts longer. I ONCE got a brazilian- HONNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN. That is all we will say about this experience. (and this was supposedly with a 'very gentle person- and the best in town'. I like the sensitive nair better. I use it for my armpits and 'down in dallas' parts.
  20. I have to admit I still have difficulty doing it. But last week i learned a wicked awful lesson, when I took some sips of a drink right after eating. I had the worst pain in my chest, and then straight to the bathroom.......! GROSS! Not doing that again anytime soon.
  21. THE scale MOVED!!!!!!!!! You guys were absolutely right. I cut back my carbs to 30 grams a day for the last two days. First day, I thought it was a fluke, and then today it moved some more. I love you love you love you love you all.... and I am sooooo fortunate to have found my VSG family online :confused1:

    So Discouraged....

Hey, I wrote the same post- last week and the week before. But I have to tell you- the scale FINALLY MOVED TODAY!!! I seriously believe it is from the advice I received from Tiffy and other members of this board. I needed to reduce my carbs- and have since reduced them to around 30g a day, and up my protein- even more than the 60g I was getting. I have been having an extra protein shake everyday, and have cut out all carbs that do not come from a 'protein source'. I honestly believe that is what broke my stall. Like you- I was eating around 800 cals a day, and walking everyday.

ZUMBA- where have you been all my life????

There are actually two guys in my class..... and oh man- one of them HAD SOME MOVES. He said he has been dancing for a while- doing Zumba. p.s. I will likely drive until it warms up -boooooo !

ZUMBA- where have you been all my life????

I enjoyed zumba so much, that today I decided to get another gym membership for a place that has a lot more classes. (I will have to decide if I want to walk two blocks to my current gym, or cycle a mile to the new gym) Either way, it will still be cheaper to have two memberships than to pay for ONE session of personal training.
