Personal Question - When did you have your first bowel movement?
This is what it says: Bowel Function: -You will be given a Senokot tablet (vegetable laxative) the night of your operation. -If this is not effective, on the following day you will receive suppositories every 6 hours until you have a bowel movement. -Constipation is a common complaint early on after surgery, due to the anesthetic, pain medication, and low Fiber intake during the full liquid phase of your diet that you will be on for 3 weeks after surgery. Try taking a stool softener daily to help you with this. Colace is a name brand-you can get the store brand... ...If you are still having a problem, please contact our office. So actually it didn't say that they wouldn't release you from the hospital without a bowel movement, but I remember them saying this at our preop appt. I hope I don't have to stay longer than 2 nights!

Really stressing about the hair loss aspect of this...
Has anyone taken Biotin before? My doctor has recommended it, so I am taking it-I have no idea if it will help. If it is better than post pregnancy hair loss, I am good to go. I have already been through that twice!

Today I am scared
I have been so excited about this entire process, but today I feel like that excited feeling has been replaced with fear. I have a 13 month old baby and a 5 year old that I am unsure about how I am going to care for them afterwards. My 5 year old-no problem. But I will only have help for a short while after surgery-how am I going to manage with my 13 month old that isn't walking yet? Then I read the thread on hair loss. :w00t: I have super thick hair and I lost a lot after each baby, but I hope I don't lose a noticeable amount. I tried some of the Nutrimed stuff that I am supposed to drink for the week before my surgery yesterday and I almost threw up. How am I going to do that for a week? I know in the end this is the right decision for me, but I just have a ton of fear about these other things.

Indiana, Ohio or Florida?
I am using Dr. Myers at Fresh Start. They have been great, but I really doubt that he would compete financially. I remember thinking he was higher than anyone else I had looked into.

Plastic surgery after
I know there is a ps forum, but there seems to be no traffic down there. If I wanted to find out if my insurance covers removing the skin from my belly, what do I ask? Is there a technical term? What do I ask?

What to expect?
I have my preop appt tomorrow. They said I should plan on being there from 8:30-1:30. Any thoughts on what to expect?

Further surgery because of skin?
Girl, you look great. I don't see surgery needed anywhere! Thank you for sharing! This helps a lot!

Further surgery because of skin?
That is very sweet. I would appreciate it. I am just so curious as to what I am going to look like after all this! I have only been this obese for a bit over 5 years. I didn't every battle with weight at all until about 22 and even then I wasn't really big.

Further surgery because of skin?
I am so curious whether I will have a lot of extra skin or not. I am 5'2, 226 lbs and 31 years old. Anyone have any thoughts/experiences on this? I have my surgery Jan 25th.

Did you tell?
I have told my husband, my mother, my father and my absolute best friend. That is all who will ever know. It is an extremely personal thing to me-and perhaps I will feel differently when it is all over. For now, they are my lifeline. They are who I trust in this world and they are the only ones that will know.

Question!
I have been approved for the gastric sleeve procedure. I got my approval last week. My surgeon's office is very slow to call me back and now I just found out that my surgeon will be in Africa for 2 weeks in January-so now we are looking at February-at the earliest. (and if they don't call me back soon, even later!) I liked my surgeon, but I have my reasons for wanting to have it done at a certain time. My original plan was to have it done at the end of the year. However, it took them 17 days to return a phone call, and that bumped it so far that I now can't even consider that option. My thought was-what if I changed surgeons. I have talked to two-and I liked both. I just chose one over the other-no real reason. Would it take long to change the paperwork for the procedure for my insurance? (My insurance approved me in 3 days-they were very quick-doctor's office? Not so much.) Is this even possible? How soon do most surgeons schedule out? Days? Weeks? Months?
