  1. Hey Everybody! I'm here with another question. I went to the nutritionist that my surgeon recommended and she is giving me plans of what to eat every meal, every day and how much to eat of it for every stage. I am getting ready to move to mushies on Tuesday. Is this really necessary? I know I need to eat healthy. Not drink drinks with sugar, but as long as I'm eating healthy foods I should be ok shouldn't I? Like right now she told me to eat 1/2 cup of pureed Soup for lunch and then for dinner, but what if I drink some more times than that? Is it going to hurt me? Or what if I don't feel full with 1/2 cup? Is it going to hurt me if I have 3/4 cup? I'm confused....
  2. I'm 11 days out and my doctor nor my nutritionist said nothing about coffee. Can I drink it now or do I need to wait?
  3. Hi Carolyn! I'm on day 11 and I have been eating cream Soup and I find that I can eat at least a 1/2 cup sometimes more. Today I went to TGIF and ordered Broccoli cheese soup thinking I couldn't eat much of it and it wouldn't hurt me, but I ate all of it! I mean it wasn't a whole cup probably, but it was more than 1/2 cup. I didn't feel bad afterwards or anything. Am I eating too much? I wonder if it can hurt me eating this much?
  4. Hello Everybody! It has been 10 days since I was sleeved. I'm doing pretty well. Looking forward to moving to mushies next week! YAY! I've lost 16lbs. so far. :lol0: When I went back to the doctor he told me that I was dehydrated and needed to drink more. They told me I need to drink like 3 20oz bottles of liquid everyday. I probably have been drinking 1... I guess I have been worried about drinking too much or taking too big of sips. HOW do I know if this happens? I really haven't had any problems since the surgery. I haven't felt like I was going to throw up or anything like that. Also when I drink soup, I am finally able to eat soup with chicken and vegetables if it is put through the blender! What happens if I put too much in my sleeve? I usually go with 1/2 cup, but sometimes I still feel hungry... Advice anyone? :001_smile:
  5. Congratulations Deedee! Your story is amazing and in just such a short time! I'm only on day 6 and can't wait until I am where you are! The sleeve really is amazing! I know it was the right decision for me. God Bless!
  6. Congratulations! Everything that deedee said sounds great! Can't think of anything else that I took. I didn't take the chapstick, but I had to get some while I was there. Definitely needed! Everything will go fine! I was sleeved 6 days ago and I'm doing great! Let us know how everything went when you get home!
  7. Day 6: I got by drainage bag and most of my stitches out today! YAY! I'm so happy! I couldn't wait to get that tube out of my stomach. Yuck! :mad0: I feel 100% better! :biggrin2: They only left the stitches by my belly button and I get those out in another week. I'm so happy that I can start feeling "normal" again... I have a little pain, but not much. The doctor said taking the stitches and the tube out wasn't going to hurt, but he lied! :scared0: I was ready to scream! But it was worth it! :cursing: I've lost 10 lbs. so far. I have been so hungry today! I so wish I could eat something of substance! Somehow I'll have to make it on my clear liquids...

  9. Glad to hear that it well Jeff! I just got sleeved this last Tuesday, the 13th. Came home on Thursday and have been doing pretty good, but I still have the stupid drainage bag! :svengo: My doctor wants to wait until Tuesday to take it out! You know how annoying that is... Other than that I'm doing good. I'm amazed that they are allowing you to eat all that stuff so soon! I'm on Clear liquids and chicken broth for 2 weeks... :001_tt2:
  10. I am 27! Even though I am starting to feel old... lol... I just got sleeved 5 days ago.
  11. Hey Everybody! Have any of you tried Slim Fast Protein shakes? It says" Controls hunger up to 4 hours. 15g of protein as prepared. 24 Vitamins and minerals. Would this be good to help with the protein as well as with the weight loss or is it best just to get a protein mix?
  12. That could have been what happened. She might have drank it really quick and it could have been right after surgery. Not sure. Anyways I just know I don't need them and like you said they are just empty calories.
  13. Hey Everyone! I know Cokes and anything that is carbonated we have been told that we can NEVER drink again right? I was thinking yeah, but maybe after I'm healed a little bit here or there wouldn't hurt right? I have read about other people that have had a little bit and didn't bother them. Well, I am finally cured from all carbonated beverages. My mom was talking to a doctor friend of ours and he was wanting her to know how serious the decision I was making to have the sleeve was and how I need to follow all directions and take care of myself. He was telling her that he helped assist on a WLS, not sure which one this lady had and afterwards I'm not sure how long it was, but she drunk a COKE! :w00t: And... her stomach exploded and she died... :001_tt2: So, for me and any of you that are tempted to have a soft drink from time to time we just need to remember this story. I'm sure I won't be tempted anymore... It's just NOT worth it! :svengo:
  14. I got sleeved 5 days ago :biggrin2: and I am doing well. Lost 10 lbs. so far. I believe I have made to right decision. I guess only time will tell. :cursing: Right now I am on clear liquids for another 9 days  and then I can start eating a little bit more of food. Why did I decide to get the sleeve? I have been overweight my whole life! :sad0: I remember being on and off diets since I was like 9 yrs. old. I would always go on them with my Mom and Dad and both of them would lose weight and I would lose hardly nothing. When I was 15 yrs. old I was FINALLY diagnosed with hypothyroidism (my thyroid was not functioning currently) Since then (12 yrs.) I have been on medicine everyday for my thyroid. It did help that I was no longer gaining 5lbs. a week like I did when I was a child, but it still made it extremely hard to lose weight. All my life I have been trying, but it doesn't work. For the last 4 years I have been working in Nicaragua, Central America as a missionary. And it is so much harder to diet here. I also got married 3 yrs. ago and I have a 2 yr. old daughter, so I have to say since I have gotten married I have kind of let myself go... :scared0: I've probably gained close to 40-50lbs. since I've been here. It is so hard with my busy daily schedule and the foods here for my to try to lose weight. Everything here is fried! I know even with the sleeve that I need to start eating healthy, but if it happens that I have to eat a few bites of something that is not healthy I believe I can still lose weight. At least I'm hoping so. If anyone wants to know about what I do you can visit my website: http://www.missionariestonicaragua.org. Also it doesn't help that my husband weighs 150lbs. and I weigh 250lbs. I know he still loves me, :mad0: but I feel that I have to do something. Especially for my health. I'm borderline on high blood pressure. Both my parents have health problems and it's just a matter of time... So this last Tuesday was my changing point in my life. I am no longer gaining weight. I am NO LONGER addicted to food. I'm going to lose 110lbs!!!!
  15. I hope so happy for you that you have made the decision. I just got sleeved on Tuesday, so I'm a newbie. Not quite sure how my life is going to be yet, but I believe I made the right decision. I need to lose over 100 lbs. and I have been on diets all my life and just haven't been able to do it. Now with the help of the sleeve and the people on this forum I believe I can!
  16. I just weighed and I have lost 10lbs. since I was weighed going into the hospital on Tuesday for surgery... Wow!
  17. Thank you guys for your prayers! I went into surgery on Tuesday and came home yesterday afternoon. I'm on my way to recovery. I can't say that I haven't wondered if I did the right thing since the surgery, but I guess that's normal. This is day 4 and I'm not feeling too bad. The worse thing is I have the drainage bag and tube hanging out of my stomach! Yuck! I don't get it out until tuesday. I think I'll feel better after then. Thanks for all your prayers!
  18. I hope my doctor used titanium... I didn't think to ask. He did have to use 6. He said my stomach was bigger than normal... On day 4, can't wait till Tuesday when I get this drainage bag out...
  19. I made it home today from the hospital... Day 3... still kind of rough... worse than anything is having this stupid drainage bag! I don't get it out until tuesday... :-( I think I'll go crazy before then.... Any advice about what I can drink? The nutricionist hasn't had time to meet with me yet. The doctor told me gatorade, chicken broth, water and jello. Sound right?
  20. Hi Tara! Congratulations on having a date to be sleeved! I'm actually getting sleeved tomorrow. I hope to lose 110lbs with the sleeve. My doctor told me I have to have the drainage bag from 5 days. That really freaks me out! Especially bringing it home with me... But, I'll make it. Most people on here that I have talked to just have one while they are in the hospital and some don't have it... Can't tell you about the other since I haven't been there yet...
  21. I'm getting sleeved tomorrow (Oct. 12th)! I'm so excited and nervous at the same time!
  22. I'm so glad to hear that it went well! I have been wondering about how you were doing. I know you were really nervous before the surgery. Now I'm in the same place you were. :scared0: lol... I'm getting the sleeve tomorrow at 10am. I can't believe I'm actually doing it! We'll have to keep in touch and follow each other's progress. What do they have you drinking now? How do you feel? :crying:
  23. Hey Guys! Thank you for all your replies! I've got a time for my surgery! Now it's official! No backing out... I'm scheduled for 10am. Need to be at the hospital at 9am. Thank you for all your prayers! I will be back home on Thursday and I'll post an update! God Bless!
  24. I'm being sleeved on Tuesday and I have been kind of worried why my doctor isn't having me do the pre-op diet. He said I didn't need to, but I have been kind of worried since everyone else I talk to has did it. My BMI is 43. I guess I'm not the only person then... That's good to know.
  25. This scares me! I'm going in on Tuesday for surgery and my doctor told me I don't need to do a pre-op diet. My BMI is 43 and he said because it is not that high, it's not necessary. Do you think he's right?
