  1. If you don't like it, don't eat it. Prime real estate is our stomachs, I'm going to eat all the nutritious foods, but I have to like them too. I don't get to eat very much.
  2. Hi, anyone here is welcome to add me: Stronger_Diva Also, a quick link is in my signature line.
  3. Christina Aguilera is one that comes to mind at this moment because my husband and I were sitting in bed drinking our morning coffee. The Celebrity Gossip section comes on and they show a clip of C.A. walking down the street with her entourage. Well, my husband gives out a "grunt" in a good way, meaning he thinks she's hot. I kind of laugh a little bit, and smile. I'm not skinny and really I don't want to be. He says WOW!! She thick, like my Wife.. I laugh again. Then the News comments on how awful she is because she's "Let herself go" and she is "Fat". I'm not kidding, they really used those terms. I was aghast. CHRISTINA AGUILERA IS NOT FAT!!! I was FAT! I weighed 330+ Lbs. THAT'S fat. That said, I don't even like the term "Fat" anyway, but that's my problem, no one else's. I just think the mainstream media needs to stop putting it in our heads what is considered Fat and not Fat. And this calling anyone who wears a Size 8 or a 10 Plus Sized? Really?? It's sickening in my opinion. Okay, rant over.
  4. Yes and here's what we discussed in my Nutrition class exactly last night: Body Weight Lost: 1-2%, Symptoms: Thirst, Fatigue, Weakness, Vague Discomfort, Loss of Appetite. 3-4 %; Impaired physical performance, dry mouth, reduction in urine, flushed skin, impatience, apathy. 5-6 %; Difficulty in concentration, headache, irritability, sleepiness, impaired temperature regulation, increased respiratory rate. 7-10 %; Dizziness, spastic muscles, loss of balance, delirium, exhaustion, collapse. This information comes from a slide show from our class last night and was taken from the book materials. *** If you are thirsty, you are already slightly dehydrated. Drink up!!! If you experience any of the symptoms from the 5-6 % range, seek medical attention. You will most likely need an IV. DON'T LET IT GET OUT OF HAND: Dehydration is very dangerous and can lead to death.

  6. Hi there, click the link - it will take you to the eating plan. http://www.verticals...sics-boot-camp/
  7. I've never heard of this supplement, but doing research it looks like some kind of MLM product. It doesn't appear to be anything better than what you might find at Vitamin Shoppe or GNC, most likely for a much better price. Good luck!
  8. My PCP was kind enough to do all my post op care. She still does to this day, by giving me regularly scheduled blood panels. I'm going in this Friday for one in fact. Talk to your PCP and see if they would be willing to help you. It's always better to know prior to having surgeries anywhere outside your network of health care providers.
  9. Hello Lolly, IMO I think it would be best to wait to have your sugery. My first reasoning is because you really don't know how you will come out. Some come out great and are back on their feet the next day. Some come out needing a few weeks, and some come out feeling down and lethargic for a few months. Let alone any major issues that might happen, that could set you back a good six months or longer. The reason I caution you is because the job market plainly stinks right now, and I think anyone just starting out SHOULD make that their first priority. You will be a newbie there, and you will want to do a good job. I can tell you from experience that it took me a good 4 months to even get my head out of a tired fog I was in. I was not 100% for a long time. I would have had problems if I had a new job, regardless of what I was doing... which I am a desk worker. Do you have some kind of probationary period? Perhaps waiting until that is over, and especially until your Husband can be there to assist you would be better timing. NOT ONLY THAT but when you have weight loss surgery, you absolutely will want your whole focus to be on that. It is not easy, and staying completely focused is going to be of the utmost. If circumstances happen after that are a surprise then you will just have to deal with them, but if some are foreseen it is much better to wait. Keep in mind this is my opinion only. Whatever you should decide, I wish you the best.

  11. You're quite welcome, and yes - absolutely get a food scale. As well as small plates, spoons/forks, cups, and measuring spoons and cups. All the best to you in the upcoming days!
  12. As Susan stated yesterday, please allow this thread to get back on topic. We kindly request that all responses to anything regarding racist remarks by anyone discontinue. I am also moving this thread to a more appropriate area, in the complications. Many can benefit from knowing all aspects surgeries like this can bring on. Good or bad. To the OP, I am deeply sorry for your illness as a result from you surgery. I will pray you continue to heal! Please keep in touch and let us know how you're doing.
  13. A PPI is a Proton Pump Inhibitor. It is meant to be taken daily, every morning about 45 Mins - 1 hour before eating. It protects our stomach by actually stopping most of the pumps that release stomach acid. Acid reducers are only used for after we already have too much in our stomachs. I use Omeprazole / Magnesium from Walgreens. It works just as good as Zegerid for me. You'd have to give each brand at least 2 weeks trial before knowing which one works best. I don't even have the need to use any acid reducers since my brand works so well. Our stomachs are so tiny and our proton pumps still make just as much acid after as if it were still working for a normal sized stomach. Some of us need extra help with it with medications. It can also be a huge phantom for hunger as well.
  14. Woohoo my dear Sleeve 4 Me!!! You rock sistah! =)) And yep, that was my suggestion right there. *hugs*
  15. I hope everything turns out well. It is true the lack of ghrelin can cause body temperature issues, and myself even 2 years out find it difficult to warm up or even cool down. It's crazy, but I've never had an episode quite as intense as you experienced. Please keep us updated on how you're doing and share your results too if you don't mind. I'm sure there's someone out there who would benefit from hearing about it. Take care!
  16. Nah majority doesn't HAVE to be Water. I just prefer it, no specific reason. I think a lot of those drinks have very over powering flavors and I really don't like it. Our bodies just pull the H2O out and use it for it's purporses needed. It does the same with the H2O that's in food. HTH
  17. I have been forcing myself to drink Water lately too. Some days it will be late afternoon and I'll realize I'd not had a sip all day! No bueno. I even try to make sure that I'm having bottles everywhere but still I don't even pick them up to drink them. I guess I don't have much else to add, except it sounds like what you're doing is working for now. Have you tried Propel? I like the light flavor, and it has very minimal calories.
  18. I eat a lot of egg/whites, some greek yogurt, reduced fat cheese sticks, milk, Nuts/seeds, lean Protein meats (mostly poultry or fish/seafood), leafy greens, asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, and plenty of water. I can't do this for too long, honestly I get sick of it. Plus, with my hefty workouts I NEED carbohydrates!!!!
  19. Well, imo our stomachs are already very small. I think as long as we're putting Protein first then a few bites of this and that it will fill us. I try not to concern my brain with that too much because as it is I can't eat enough to even keep up with my workouts.. lol Once I reached around 8 mos out I began to eat "normal" sized portions. Any less and I just don't think my body would like it! So, day 2 and yeah I'm eating more carbs than I should. I do have a headache though and I was able to get in just over 100 Oz of Water yesterday and so far today I've gotten in almost 70 Oz! It's only 10:30 am. I do like to get all my fluids in by early afternoon because I'll go to the bathroom too much in my sleep otherwise. Other than that I'm doing rather good. I've been getting my workouts in big time in the last few days, and that in all honesty was my biggest concern of late. Good luck everyone!! =D
  20. I had my surgery in Mx, however I was VERY fortunate that my PCP had agreed to do all of my post ops. Nice huh? Anyhow, I visited her after 30 days, then 3 months, and now I've been going every 6 months to have my panels checked. HTH!
  21. Oh mine can't jump at all (thank goodness). She's too small to even jump anything higher than her belly button.
  22. They are a lot of work. Puppies especially. Man, but I have to say my puppy is doing better all the time! She's lucky she's cute. On a side note it's Tuesday. I'm doing really good with my Water today. Yay me!
  23. "A journey of a thousand miles always begins with the first step". I'm sure so many have heard this before... but what is the first step? I'll tell you. It is realizing you have somewhere to travel to. It is admitting and knowing you have something to fix or complete. Taking personal and full responsibility for it, and taking action.
  24. Well that's strange because water LOVES you! Water is going to be your best ally in this entire process. It will flush all the spent calories and fat cells out of your system. It will aid in the repair of your skin tissues as you lose the weight. I do believe it has helped my skin snap back as much as it did. It will keep you hydrated as you will be eating less now, thus you will get less h2o from your solids. Your body will be ever grateful if you keep up with your fluids. To answer your questions, yes the revolt gets better and yes in time you will be able to handle more water in one sitting. I'm barely 3 hours into my day and I've already gotten in 36 Oz. I'll be at 52 Oz in another hour. Drink up!!
