When You Need Motivation Or Have Qs I'm Happy To Help :)
Heya frodobaggins... btw I love your handle! I can't wait until December when The Hobbit comes out. Two things, the closer you get to your ideal weight = the harder it will be to get there. Your body's metabolism is slowing down greatly. It doesn't require nearly as many calories to run as it did when you were over weight. To lose from here I suggest logging your food diligently, down to every bite. If you can lower your carbs for awhile that might help too. Try for a Maximim of 30g and see if that helps. Try that for about a week, and one last thing... how much Water are you getting in? I was drinking a minimum of 84 Oz of water but stayed around 100-124 Oz when I was losing weight. HTH!!

When You Need Motivation Or Have Qs I'm Happy To Help :)
Hi Heather! Absolutely yes. To be honest what you are experiencing is far more common than you may think. Most just aren't as keen to want to admit this out in the public. Just know you are doing yourself a big favor by doing this though. Whatever you do, do NOT beat yourself up. That's the quickest way to fall off the wagon. Feeling sorry for ourselves gives us an out to continue with our bad habits. Instead, pick your chin up and start doing the right thing RIGHT NOW! Don't wait until tomorrow or "Monday". I think you know what I mean. Log on to www.myfitnesspal.com and start logging your food. When I was in my losing mode I was at about 80-100g P; 60g Carbs and about 30% of my total calories came from fats. Send me a friend request, I'll be happy to follow your progress. The link to my profile is in my signature line. All the best to you!

Hi Metallialady I'm so very sorry to hear your husband isn't more supportive of your efforts. Having this surgery is so difficult let alone having someone seeming to sabotage your efforts can make it so much worse. The only thing I can really suggest to you in regards to this is telling him you will fill your own plate. As it is, each of us is really responsible for ourselves, aren't we? If he doesn't like it, well that's probably just going to have to be too bad. Don't allow others to make decisions for your, especially when it comes to your eating. It can be made into an excuse to continue on with bad habits, and being fresh out of surgery this is the very best time to break them. Good luck!

Weight Goal Challenge For New Year's Day
We have entered into the "ember" months! Which for me means having to always keep my weight in check... so much rich sweet foods and less working out due to the outside coldness. Well I'm absolutely DETERMINED to change this habit this year. Who's with me? My challenge to all of you is to have some kind of weight scale goal to reach by January 1st. I being at goal will make mine very minimal. The reason being I'm not really interested in losing weight per se, but being around the same weight by the time this Winter Season ends. So my goal will be to weigh 165 Lbs. Sounds excellent to me! =) Who else is on board with me? I'm looking for some Ole Timers to join in as well!! =)) Typically in challenges like this most will keep checking in and mentioning how much they have lost. I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE THIS!! I will probably not check in as much since I'm already at goal. But I will be checking in to cheer all of you on who are trying to lose more weight. ALL THIS SAID, please remember it is good to challenge yourself - however it is NOT good to beat yourself up if you're not losing as fast as you would like. Our bodies will lose the weight at it's own rate. The important thing is, is to keep eating healthy, drinking plenty of Water, and giving our bodies physical activity. As long as you're doing this, you WILL lose the weight. Good luck!!

Eating should not be seen as a necessary Evil. We need sustenance to live and stay alive. It's WHAT we put into our bodies that make the difference. Having a good relationship with food does not mean being able to avoid it, rather it entails making changes to ensure we are nourishing ourselves with proper nutrition.

Note to self: It IS possible to be supportive and kind at the same time. Most people respond better to soft criticism rather than abrasive opinions.

Choose to be FiT or choose to be FaT. One choice takes a great deal of hard work, persistence and patience. One is hard to get the other is easy to forget. If you've made it to the FiT side... be especially sure to NEVER forget what life is like on the FaT side. Those who do not learn from their mistakes are very easily going to make them again.

Plan your successes one tiny step at a time. If you had a long road trip, wouldn't you want to create a few stops in between? Make little promises and gifts to yourself as well. Don't pleasure yourself with food, or you will find yourself punishing you with it as well. Make your big goals with big gifts.. and small goals with a little pampering. Whatever you do, always keep your head up and your eyes on the prize!!

The Basics Boot Camp
BTW I also use Land O Lakes prepared with Olive Oil too. It has a lovely flavor. I never use synthetic butter. Ever. I don't avoid fats as much. I choose to just eat healthy with moderate "good" carbs. White carbs is what I avoid mostly.

Bad Breath Help
If this is something you've only experienced recently, most likely it is due from eating low carbs. Ketosis can cause foul breath... unfortunately. Sadly, there really isn't much you can do aside from scraping your tongue, constantly brushing your teeth or perhaps the listering breath strips. Good news is it doesn't last forever. Mine usually lasts only a week or two when I put myself back in that state. All the best!

Yep sure can! On the computer full version it lists surgeons under the profile picture. Dr. Cirangle was going to be my first choice but instead went with Dr. Aceves. Dr. C is an excellent surgeon and well, not hard on the eyes...

When You Need Motivation Or Have Qs I'm Happy To Help :)
Remember to be thankful for all the wonderful blessings in your life. Being negative or seeing all the bad things going on or all the awful things that have happened to you in your life isn't going to do much except bring you down, and give you excuses on why you should keep abusing yourself. Stay bright, happy and cherish all the love you have in your life. Look forward to your improvements, but also keep in mind anything worth having will never come easy. Fight until the wheels fall off... I know I always will. God Bless.

Band To Sleeve - Thoughts?
Hi there I revised from band to sleeve in Sept 2010, and I was originally Lap Banded in Feb 2008. It is absolutely UN TRUE that ex bandsters to poorly with the sleeve. For ME the Lap Band failed... I did not. I know it seems like a common feeling that we ourselves must have done something wrong, but I refuse to accept that. I must be right too because I blew through my sleeve and I've been at goal for over a year now. I'm happy, I'm fit and I'm slim and trim. That's all I ever wanted with my WLS procedure and never got until I was sleeved. I workout nearly every day in some capacity. I eat by the sleever rules most of the time (I'm not perfect!!) but those two thing ensure I remain in my tiny clothes and toned and fit. I highly encourage any Bandsters to take the plunge to the Sleeve if their Band did not work out for them. YOU are NOT a FAILURE... Failing means giving up and since you're here considering a revision, you have not given up. Blessings!

A Few Questions..
This is perfect advice. Everyone is different and some do need less carbs per day to lose, however these rules are a good starting point. I did exactly this (except my water intake after the first few months went up to around 100 oz per day) and I lost all my excess weight in about 10 months time. Also of all my workouts, walking has ALWAYS been my greatest fat burner. Not even running (though I did do that...) but walking. Good luck to you!

Denied...but Yet Approved
Hi MB Mom, my advice to you is don't panic! I have to tell you I've noticed a great deal many people in the WLS community who have the Gastric Bypass and are doing wonderfully. There are some differences in the procedure so I have to tell you to find a WLS message board that discusses GB just like we discuss the Sleeve here. Thinnertimes.com is a good one. Also even doing a simple Google search you will find an incredible amount of information out there on the internet for your reading. I want to throw in there I know someone personally and in real life who had the Gastric Bypass procedure. He's doing great and I'd say has lost about 200 Lbs in the last year alone at least. I never asked him exactly how much he's lost only because I hate it when I get asked that all the time. Truth be told he's taken the spotlight here away from me and I'm a bit grateful! Haha All the best to you!!

1. I confess that I'm not perfect HOWEVER I'm still at goal living my thin and fit dream. 2. I confess that I don't always follow all the sleever rules HOWEVER I'm 2 years post op and I'm healthier than I've ever been in my life. 3. I confess that I do eat sugar and carbs sometimes HOWEVER I'm regular in the bathroom. 4. I confess that I secretly would still love to get smaller HOWEVER I love the way I look in pictures and in the mirror. 5. I confess that I no longer worry about what I'm eating as much HOWEVER it's nice to constantly obsess about what I'm eating. Enjoy life people, because that's what this is really all about. In the end, only love and family really matter. Blessings!

Encouraging Myself
Wow you look great! In such a short amoutn of time too, you have a lot to be proud of! congrats =) By the way I went through the same emotions when I had my band removed and revised to sleeve. I kept it hush hush because of the embarrassement I felt as I was not successful with my band. However today I'll tell anyone who asks. It's a nice liberating feeling. That said, to each their own. Whatever you feel the most comfortable with is what you should do. Good luck!!
