Please take control... U should always know what goes in and what goes out...
This is your body and your band, your doctor should be completely led by your requirements (obviously within reason) and your needs not what suits him... I would find it completely disrespectful if my Dr didn't inform me every step of the way..

Oh and NaNa your statistics are wrong because its less then 5% of lapband patients that fail. I don't care if you have been banded for 10 years you must have lost yours or something to be so rude to people. I think everyone knows how to eat. Your insinuating that we will all lose our bands and why because you did? The only reason I could think that you preach what no one should do. We all have mothers you are not a surgeon and if yours turned your back on you its because you probably drove him nuts. I think most people have enough sense if something isn't right to go to their surgeons. We all have made mistakes but it doesn't mean that we all will lose our bands. I can almost guarantee you lost or do not still have your band that is why you feel the need to preach to everyone. For the record I can assure you that 95% of this forum will still have their bands 10 years from now. You have no right to tell people what to eat or how to eat there is no food off limits with the band NONE. Its only what you and only you can not tolerate. I cant eat meat but that does not mean everyone in the forum cant eat meat. Its my personal problem with MY band not all of bandland. Your not educating you are putting people down and most of the time people who do that are miserable with their own selves.

If you're throwing up all the time, have acid reflux, and aren't losing weight, then you're probably too tight. If you just have difficulty eating some foods then you may be fine. It's kind of up to you. Everyone keeps themselves at different levels of restriction. Personally, I like to stay on the loose side because when my band tightens up...WHOA BUDDY!

Seriously... I do meeting on an almost daily basis in work as a nurse, and I am finding I am having to shout to be heard Over the sound of my own stomach... I can hear it growling "please louise, were r my pies, crisps and chocolate, feed me, feed me" It's like a baby, I have tried to ignore it, but it's trying every trick in the book!! Just as I am about to speak with a doctor or a patients relatives.. It shouts out "feed me or I will embarrass you" Some times a rubble, so loud the other day, the kids thought it was storm.. Sometimes a screech or a loud burb, anything to distract me and get my attention!! It's even started growing during love making!! But I tell you now stomach growly monster, u have had your fair share of pies, crisps and chocolate, In fact more then most have in a life time, well the funs over, so you can growl, scream and cry all you want, this lady ain't for giving in!

louloumoo reacted to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! in 60kg down and depressed with my loose skin
Unfortunately, there isn't anything to be done about it except plastic surgery.
I've lost 102kg (227 pounds) so I completely understand your frustration. In May, I had surgery to remove the excess skin from my stomach and immediately dropped two pant sizes. I still have considerable skin on my arms and thighs, too.
But, here's my take on it: I can hide the excess skin but there was no hiding 227 pounds of fat. I'll take the loose skin over the fat any day.
    Best wishes.

Fear of failure was in all of us. Too many diets that didn't work and now you have a chance to succeed, and it seems so unrealistic considering your history? All of us have btdt. You're not alone.
But now is the time to get your head in the game. Learn, read, understand the new habits you will have to take on, and know it is in you to succeed if you want it. As carolinagirl so succinctly puts it, it's ALL about want power.
There are so many success stories on this board, and that is because, if you're willing to work with your band, it will work for you. So start now to resolve to being a success, to do the things you need to do to succeed. It's all you need to do - make the decision.

First and foremost you have got to stop saying you are going to fail. Failure only occurs when you let it. If you go into this surgery thinking that you are going to fail then your right you probably will. Your success of your band is only what you (not any of us) make it. You can choose to do the right thing or the wrong thing but in the end whatever you decide is your outcome. We all know what we have/had to do in order to be successful and thinking you wont be should not even be a thought in your mind. The greatest achiever's at anything did not win by thinking that they would fail, not win, not finish.

I'm disabled and have to take certain meds that prevent me from losing as fast as I'd like. Hang in there. I had a bout with Bell's Palsy when I was 18 yrs old so don't get discouraged. There is a higher power that will carry you through this .

    Hi tiger, thanks for sharing.
From what I am reading, here are some recommendations.
#1 From fill to fill we all have to be cautious and aware that what went down the day before may not necessarily go down after the fill. We need to hyperfocus on every food again and eat it slow to make sure it's passing. I actually eat foods by themselves (meat only, or veggies only for example) so if I do have issues I know precisely which food it was. As you get closer to green, this will become more and more of an issue because some foods <may, but typically> become no foods..they simply don't pass or they cause too much discomfort.
#2 Some people don't experience much restriction, and as they get closer to green they are feeling restriction for the first time. (This is more of a generalized recommendation). So if you think a fill will allow you to eat big bites, same foods like before...remember that green will give you restriction and the experience of eating is a different sensation. Food will gather in your pouch. Depending on the type of food, it can sit there for a few seconds and slide through (like soft or watery foods) or it can sit there for much longer (denser foods). Treat every food like it's going to sit in the pouch for a 1/2 hr. Avoid drinking which can cause discomfort when there was none before.
#3 Timing. We never know whats going to happen when we eat. Even if we are well established from our fill, one day can be tight or maybe we didnt chew as thoroughly as we thought. Don't see yourself up by eating right before a meeting, or laying down to bed, or when you need to be active. When at all possible give yourself at least 1/2 hr AFTER eating before doing something that could be impossible to juggle both the activity and the regurg. You definitely had food/water in the pouch and aspirated. Very tricky stuff because that can lead to lung infections.
I'm glad you are doing better. Go slow and keep us posted

My experience is that I'll feel restriction right away (the swelling reaction due to the fill) and then that reduces over time. For me, I can get a sense of where I am in terms of fill-effectiveness about two weeks out.
Eat as if you've got perfect restriction/fullness during your cruise and you'll be just fine. In other words, act "as if", and don't test you band to see what you can get away with. You are still early out in terms of post-op, and perhaps still in "bandster hell", but don't let your cruise (or anything, really) keep you from using your band as a tool towards your success.
    Have a great holiday.
