Thank you so much for posting this. I was really getting down on myself after reading many posts of others weight loss. The few appointments post op w my surgeon, him & his staff, praised me, on my progress! I was advised 1-2 pounds per week. Those who have exceeded that, kuddos to you!! God Bless!!

Remember, no matter how slow you think you are losing. Progress is still progress.
Also, you can try dividing your weight loss. So you lost 20lbs a month average, 5lbs a week average. That is a great amount of loss.

Thank you for your post! I had a lapband, lost 70lbs & gained 30 back. I had the band taken out in June of this year. I had my sleeve gastrectomy on 09/21/17. I have lost 17 pounds this past month. I agree with everything you have said. Congratulations on your weight loss! You have done awesome! I have the same amount to lose. I have started to obsess about calories, which I have never done in my life. I haven’t exercised yet. That is what I need to start doing now.

Don’t be embarrassed. You have done awesome!! Maybe your body is adjusting? 30lbs is awesome! I have only lost 17 this past month. I had a few bad days this past week. But I know, this journey is not easy & that bad days will occur. I haven’t exercised yet. Something I need to do! But, you have.... Keep your chin up!

Lovelies.. let me put your minds at ease.
The average loss for the first month is about 15-20lbs. Sure, there are some that lose 40, and some lose 5 or 10.. but the majority of us lose between 15 and 20. The second month is usually less. Averages 10-15.
I am 7 months postop (tomorrow!) and have lost almost 100lbs. I started out 150lbs overweight, so I'm 2/3 to goal. My first month I lost 17lbs, second month 13lbs.. for a total of 30lbs (not including preop losses). This is a very average amount.
Surgery is great, but it really doesn't make us lose weight any faster than we could have before surgery on a very restricted diet. If you went on a 800 calorie diet preop, your losses would be the same as 800 calories postop. The difference is how possible it is to eat only 800 calories for an extended period of time. Most of us take a year or more to make goal weight. Could you have eaten 800 calories a day for a year without surgery? Didn't think so... (I'm eating 1100 give or take, and have been for most of the time.. so 800 wasn't even in the cards for me postop! Lol!).

I'm 5' 4" and 3 mos post op and have to be careful to stay under 1,000 calories a day per muy surgeons recommendation. It's easy to go over for me if I didn't watch my calories and what I eat.

As others have said, that isn't much. I'm still in the small sleeve phase, but I used to eat a 20 piece nuggets + large fries and was good (not stuffed). I can't even imagine that now that I get full off of one hard boiled egg.

    No, you haven't lost restriction.
Unless your stomach has stretched to the preoperative 40+ ounce capacity and you can easily accommodate 10 bacon/egg sandwiches at one sitting, your restriction is still there.
People seem to be under the impression that the immediate post-op phase in which their tight, swollen sleeves allow them to become full off 3 to 5 bites of food lasts forever.
Nope...the stomach continually relaxes and accommodates more food over the years. Per bariatric surgeon Dr. Matthew Weiner's videos, this is a normal phenomenon.
By 3 to 5 years out you can expect to accommodate three-fourths to 1 entire plate of food (8 to 12 ounces). But just because you can eat this much doesn't mean you should.
    Good luck to you.

My surgeon said you would have to repeatedly overeat to stretch your pouch. One time shouldn't be a big deal.

Thanks to the help of many here, I'm compiling a "dumping" place for important information.
@MarinaGirl Thanks for this most important one!
    Volume equivalents:
    1 oz = 1/8 cup
    2 oz = 1/4 cup
    4 oz = 1/2 cup
    8 oz = 1 cup

    Volume contents of eggs (USDA):
1 small egg: 1.5 ounces per egg (about 3 tbsp)
1 medium egg: 1.75 ounces per egg (about 3 1/2 tbsp)
1 large egg: 2 ounces per egg (about 4 tbsp = 1/4 cup)
1 xlarge egg: 2.25 ounces per egg (about 4 1/2 tbsp)
1 jumbo egg: 2.5 ounces per egg (about 5 tbsp)

    Weight/Volume Conversion Chart:
I've used this chart for years when cooking for my old blog (that I no longer update). I first found the chart on a chowhound discussion when I was trying to figure out how much ground beef (cooked) that I'd need to serve 4 people for a recipe I was creating and little did I know it contained such a gold mine of information on ALL. The. Things.

How much is 1 ounce of meat and other cool "meat facts" (WVA Center for Excellence in Disabilities):
    1 ounce of meat
the size of a small matchbook cover (yes, that small!) 1/4 cup tuna or ground beef 1/2 small chicken leg or thigh 1 slice of sandwich size meat 1 oz. of cooked, diced meat: fill measuring cup just below the 2 ounce mark. Substitutes for 1 ounce of meat

Your body is still healing from surgery. I don't think it's a stall, rather your body adjusting to the changes.

Angel11 reacted to Lovergurl in September Sleevers- How are you feeling??
Sleeved 09/27 and AWESOME!!! The weight is just falling off me. Hardly any pain at all. I do have a chest cold but I don't believe it's associated with the surgery and it's on the downhill. Which means my energy is increasing now. Still liquids but that will end soon. Biggest thing Zero hunger. Like NONE. It's so weird. But I'm diligent about my fluids and starting yesterday got to 69 g of Protein. But I'm sipping all day. So, I'm peeing like crazy, which I want to because I know that releases fat. I look forward to the "stomach emptying" LOL. Strangest sensation but I sip about 3 times and then I feel the pouch empty. I know it's the emptying because I saw it on the swallow test.
My experience with my Dr was excellent.
