How are you feeling Nikkoal??

fever blister
I had one after surgery too. Never had one before. It went away quickly. I think it has something to so with the tube that goes down our throat and our lips get very dried out.

1 week and significant muscle loss !
Ahmed, my surgeon also has no protein or vitamins the first week. The philosophy behind it is that the body has enough stored protein that it does not require additional protein for healing. He believes the first week should be focused on avoiding dehydration. The issue with vitamins that early on is that many people get nauseous and then it becomes difficult for the surgeon to determine if the nausea is a complication or from the vitamins.

How many calories 2 wks out?
Hi all, I'm 2 weeks out and following my Dr's plan. I'm just wondering about how many calories people are getting at this stage. I'm on a very limited soft food stage that began yesterday. I'm just starting to incorporate refried beans, mashed potatoes and stuff. I'm measuring 1/4 cup and having 3 meals daily with my fluids but getting about 300-400 calories daily. Does that seem about right to others?

Blood clots
- Thoughts please...
I would call again, otherwise your going to end up dehydrated. They should not let you out of the hospital until you can keep fluid down!- Is there A way to tone up without having surgery to get the extra skin removed
There's also shape wear for men. It's supposed to mold the body with compression.- Is there A way to tone up without having surgery to get the extra skin removed
Someone suggested shape wear to me and said she and a friend are doing great with them. http://www.classicshapewear.com/fajas-salome-shapewear-m-105.html- 5'6" and weighed 225-235 surgery day?
Wow Linda! Awesome! I'm 11 days post-op and down 15. I can't wait to start the losing trend. Thanks for putting a visual out there.- 2 free Quest Bars.
Mine too. See what happens. Thx!- Sleeve: The UNTOLD Story
I think it's good to share experiences and personal stories. That being said, I had my surgery in California and my surgery was not on schedule either. My surgeon had warned me that may be the case, because he said he took his time, never rushed on patients and would take care of any emergency first. I loved that about him because if it were me having the emergency, I'm glad he was prioritizing my care over a scheduled appt. I was scheduled at 2pm. They called that morning pushed back to 3. Wasn't in OR until about 6pm. The only annoying thing was that I was starving... Nothing by mouth since the night before.- Why am I ashamed that I had to have WLS?
I understand your frustration. I have been pretty open so far, but I work at a large high school with nearly 200 staff members and I know I will get a lot of questions. I'm no ashamed of the surgery, but my fear is any negative comments will probably put me on defense and I don't like confrontations. Some people are so set on what has worked for them without considering other people's journey. My advice is to do what feels right for you at the time. Just my 2 cents:)- Moody
Hi all, I'm 10 days post op today and woke up feeling not as good as I had been feeling. I also felt moody all day. Hormones?- Vitamins
- back pain
i noticed i had some back pain today too, but i think its from doing a little more than i've been doing since surgery on the 3rd. i think it may have to do with using our back muscles more now that are stomach muscles are healing.- Just had the GS...excited!
Welcome! Glad you are doing better. I'm a recent sleever also. Aug 3rd. I too had a rough beginning with pain & nausea. Two days on the hospital, but after I got home, things started improving by the day. I feel pretty good now, except I tire easily. It's nice to have other newbies to share the experience with. Take care & good luck!- Vitamins
Thanks for the replies! Those of you buying OTC (non bariatric type) vitamins, are you using the recommended dosages or doubling up?- Vitamins
What kind of vitamins is everyone taking? I know many surgeons have different suggestions. Is anyone taking celebrate or bariatric advantage? Thoughts? Oops! Just realized I posted in the wrong area. Sorry.- All of a sudden not feeling well :(
Call your surgeon. Hope you feel better soon!- Advice ?
My surgeon's diet after 5 weeks of clears, full liquid and puréed was to move on to lean proteins, veggies and low sugar fruits. He does not recommend any bread, crackers, tortillas or anything like that until after 6 months out.- Post op- not losing lbs...
Are your drinks sugar free? I diluted juice 50/50 and only drank things that were SF. Good luck! It will happen.- Did anyone feel like they were going to die?
You're not nuts. I felt the same way... It's a serious surgery, but write your letters, say a prayer and make peace with it before hand. You will do great!- Before and after pics 1 year
You look wonderful! Congrats! - Thoughts please...
